Songkran Getaway: A Tranquil Escape to Sam Roi Yot
This Songkran, with an extended holiday, I sought a relaxing escape. After browsing online, I stumbled upon a hidden gem: a serene homestay nestled amidst the breathtaking rice fields of Sam Roi Yot. With its captivating ambiance, I couldn't resist booking a stay.
Lungs Cha Homestay, located in the heart of Sam Roi Yot district, boasts only three rooms, offering an intimate and tranquil experience. Upon arrival, I was transported to another world, enveloped by the peaceful silence and lush greenery. The room rate includes two meals, with dinner featuring freshly caught fish from the nearby fields, expertly prepared by the owner, Ms. Kam. The simple yet flavorful dishes, enjoyed while watching the sunset, were a culinary delight.
Despite the lack of air conditioning, the rooms are equipped with fans and mosquito nets, ensuring a comfortable night's sleep. With the windows open, I drifted off to sleep, breathing in the fresh air and listening to the soothing sounds of nature.
This trip to Sam Roi Yot was a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of city life. Lungs Cha Homestay provided the perfect setting for relaxation and rejuvenation, offering a unique and unforgettable experience.
Turn from Soi Sam Roi Yot 10 and drive for approximately 2 kilometers. You will find the entrance to Lung Cha Homestay on your right. Continue driving for another 2 kilometers. The road will be paved for the first part, then turn into a small gravel road. I drove a sedan and had no problems navigating the road.
We have arrived at the entrance of our accommodation, Uncle Cha's house.
As mentioned, there are only 3 accommodations available here. Those who are interested should book quickly.
Our room has a tent space in front.
The room is simply furnished and does not have air conditioning, but there is a fan and a mosquito net to prevent mosquito bites.
Sitting in front of the room, I was greeted by a refreshing view of the lush greenery.
Let's go for a walk.
The pavilion by the water is a perfect spot to enjoy the cool breeze. We will have dinner here.
There are boats available for us to paddle. Let's go paddle boating.
Paddling the boat with just a pole almost capsized it several times. It was quite difficult to keep my balance.
The amateurs have stepped aside for the professionals. Our host, Gam, has just returned from fishing and will be preparing dinner for us.
Fresh fish from Thung Sam Roi Yot. Just look at the size, it's heavy! Even the fisherman can barely lift it.
While waiting for dinner, enjoy the stunning views of the mountains and the Sam Roi Yot fields.
The sun began to set below the horizon.
Let's go wait for the food.
Enjoy delicious food with a stunning view, ultimate relaxation.

As we ate, the sky gradually changed color, creating a breathtakingly beautiful scene.
After finishing our meal, it started to get dark, so we decided to prepare for bed. We have an early morning tomorrow, as we have a 7 am appointment for a boat trip.
Before going outside, let's put up a mosquito net to prevent mosquito bites.
The next morning
Enjoy a cup of coffee before embarking on a boat trip. The morning coffee with this view is priceless.
Our transportation for the field trip is ready. For this trip, we split the cost with 4 other guests, making the boat fare 800 baht, which comes out to 150 baht per person. The rest is a tip for the driver. The trip will take approximately 2 hours.
Let's get going, or else it will get too hot. Sister Gam will be our guide and take us to see the rice fields of Sam Roi Yot.
