The view from Tha Len Pier is breathtaking.
Tha Len Bay is renowned as a kayaking paradise. ^^
The view is truly breathtaking, but who would be strong enough to kayak right now?
Even with the ability to resist skin cancer cells.
Paddling a kayak during a light rain with a gentle mist would be a delightful experience.
The ferry to Koh Yao Noi departs at 3 PM. It is a speedboat that takes less than half an hour to reach the pier at Koh Yao Noi.
Upon arrival, we rented a motorbike near the pier. It was an automatic motorbike that only required twisting the throttle. The rental cost was 250 baht per day.
No identification was required. We simply paid and took the motorbike. Upon returning, we parked it and left the key in the ignition. The motorbike was still there when we returned. (The motorbike rental owner spoke in a southern Thai accent.)
At the car rental location, a group of housewives were gathered, making batik fabric.
If you are interested in learning how to make batik fabric as a souvenir, you can contact the group of housewives here.
It takes about 1-2 hours to make a batik fabric, depending on the design and size of the fabric.
However, time is of the essence, so let's ride our bikes to the accommodation and check in first. .
Our accommodation for tonight is not far from the pier.
It's called Tha Khao Bay View.
Booked through Agoda because the price was good, 900 baht per night. When I was looking for accommodation on Koh Yao Noi, there were quite a few options. However, the price range on Koh Yao Noi is...
. . . Either budget-friendly fan bungalows in the hundreds of baht range...
. . . Or luxurious rooms costing several thousand to tens of thousands of baht.
. . . It's hard to find rooms in the thousand-baht range, under three thousand, or if there are any, they're not my style.
I saw this place with a sea view for a few hundred baht, so I took it without expecting much in terms of location or view. I figured I'd book something cheap and then find somewhere with a nice view to hang out later.
The accommodation is located at the foot of the mountain, facing the sea. Upon arrival at the check-in counter, after completing the payment,
Bang Ling led us to the room. This place offers both air-conditioned and fan rooms, but there are only 3 air-conditioned rooms.
As we approached the room, we exclaimed "Wow!" The view was amazing, with trees blocking the view of any houses.
It was a beautiful sea view room, with a direct view of the forested island in front.
However, the room with the best view here is called Sita's Basket.
If you book directly, ask if the Sida cable car room is available.
This room is located at the point with the clearest view of the island's forest, at the very front.
But the house where the sea lion is staying, called Baan Khualuang, is also okay, just a little blocked by trees.
Let's put our luggage away, wash our faces, and go out to explore the island by bike. We've spread out the map, the island isn't very big, we'll just ride around and relax.
Koh Yao Noi is a small island renowned for its stunning island forest views.
(Island forest refers to a group of high cliffs located in the middle of the sea).
The Seals Just Discovered: Koh Hong and Koh Lading
The seals have just discovered that Koh Hong and Koh Lading, two islands they previously visited on a 4-island tour from Krabi, are actually part of the Koh Yao archipelago.
For those who haven't yet experienced the 4-island tour, a trip to Koh Yao Noi offers a convenient opportunity to explore these stunning islands. Boat trips depart from the island, offering a short and scenic journey to the nearby destinations.
Booking a tour through your accommodation is a convenient option, with prices ranging from 500-600 baht per person. Morning departures typically begin at 9 am, with boats picking up passengers directly from the beach of their chosen accommodation.
Alternatively, you can opt for a private trip by chartering a long-tail boat, which typically costs between 2,000 and 2,500 baht per boat, depending on negotiation.
However, as I have already visited Ko Yao Noi, I decided to explore the island further instead of revisiting it.
Before leaving your accommodation, grab a map. You can actually ride around the island without having to backtrack. It takes about 30 minutes to ride around leisurely without stopping.
As I rode along, I saw several interesting places to stop and explore. There were also many interesting accommodations that I noticed while riding around.
I'm starving now. It's 4 pm and I haven't had lunch yet.
So I headed to the market. The fresh market here only opens in the afternoon and evening, there is no morning market.
The market is located near 7-11. In the evening, there will be some fresh food and food stalls.
**Stopped by the rice and curry stall next to the 7-Eleven for some delicious and affordable chicken biryani.
The meal, which included rice with curry, steamed fish curry, chicken biryani with extra chicken, only cost 92 baht.
The stall also offers southern-style rice noodles with fish curry and fish innards curry, with a generous amount of vegetables. Looks delicious!**
The kind-hearted rice and curry vendor, truly the people here are lovely, with warm hospitality and bright smiles on everyone's faces.
For those on a budget looking for affordable local food, head over on a motorbike in the late afternoon, around 4-5 pm.
The market is located near the 7-Eleven.
** There is only one 7-Eleven on the island, located in the market. You can't miss it. The prices in 7-Eleven are the same as on the mainland. ***
In the evening, if you want a new perspective on the sunset,
ride your motorbike to the rice field on Koh Yao Noi. It's not far from the market.
At first, I didn't know which way to go, so I asked an old man sitting in front of his house for directions.
The old man pointed in that direction and said, "Go that way, kid." So I followed the directions the old man gave me.
After a while, we saw an uncle who looked similar to the one we had asked for directions earlier, riding a motorbike towards the rice field.
It was the same uncle, checking to see if we were on the right path.
The people of Ko Yao Noi are so kind! ^^
The Solitary Rice Field of Koh Yao Noi
The sight of a lone rice field on the island of Koh Yao Noi is an unusual one. The presence of buffalo amidst the paddy evokes a sense of incongruity, a stark contrast to the typical island experience.
While sunsets are often associated with beaches and the gentle caress of sand beneath one's feet, this particular evening offered a unique perspective. The vast expanse of the rice field, dotted with grazing buffalo, provided a breathtaking backdrop for the setting sun.
This unconventional sunset experience challenged the traditional island narrative, offering a glimpse into the island's agricultural heart. The juxtaposition of the serene rice field and the majestic sunset created a captivating spectacle, a testament to the island's hidden treasures.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, we rode our bikes back to our accommodation.
We had dinner at the same place in the evening. The restaurant was almost full, and there were quite a few people dining there in the late afternoon.
The food was decent and reasonably priced.
Three dishes with rice, two plates, one mango smoothie, and one large bottle of Singha beer, approximately four hundred baht.
After the meal, watermelon will be served. ^^
It's time to go back to our room after a satisfying meal. The weather is hot and humid, and it looks like it might rain.
As I mentioned earlier, our room is a bungalow with a fan.
This place is perfect for backpackers who are easygoing and don't mind simple accommodations. Most of the guests are foreigners.
However, during Songkran (Thai New Year), there are more Thai tourists.
If you prefer a more comfortable stay, you can book an air-conditioned room, which will provide a cooler and more pleasant experience.
(However, only 3 houses have air conditioning.)
The bed was comfortable, and even on the hottest nights, the mosquito net kept the bugs away.
On clear nights, you can lie in the hammock and gaze at the stars.
The design of the room is lovely. The clothes rack can also be adjusted to become a table. It's a clever idea.
The bathroom is spacious, with a few ants and insects, just enough to feel close to nature.
However, the water used is tasteless, colorless, and odorless. Usually, when staying on the island, the water has a brackish, salty taste, but here the water is clean and refreshing for showering and brushing teeth. ^^
He then went to sleep and woke up with a start a little after five o'clock. He parted the curtains and saw . . .
. . . Divine light with a view of the island's forest! ! ! . . .
Can't sleep anymore... It's the golden hour...
Wake up, wake up! Wake up and see the wonders of nature!
The best time to enjoy the beautiful morning light is from 5:00 AM to almost 6:00 AM.
The front of Ao Tha Khao Bay or the area where Tha Khao Bay View is located faces directly east.
This zone is on the same plane as the island forest.
The view is a signature of a stay on Koh Yao Noi.
**For a breathtaking, unobstructed view from above, consider staying at Six Senses Yao Noi.**
**The stunning scenery is truly unparalleled on Koh Yao Noi, making it arguably the best view on the island.**
**However, be prepared to shell out tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of baht per night (o_O ')!**
If you don't mind a few trees in the foreground, it can add depth and dimension to your shot.
For 900 baht, Khao Bay View offers stunning views of the forested island and beautiful morning light.
Just be sure to wake up early and bring some luck, because if it rains, you won't be able to see the beautiful light. ^^'
To enjoy a breathtaking view, head to the restaurant area, where we will also have breakfast.
From here, you can witness a panoramic vista that will leave you in awe.
Nature is truly beautiful. No picture can compare to seeing it with your own eyes. ^^
The sun is about to rise over the island's forest.
What a peaceful and relaxing Songkran!
If you're looking for a quiet getaway during the festival, Koh Yao Noi is the perfect destination. You won't be disappointed.
The sky is starting to brighten. We will wait a little longer. The chef is preparing breakfast, which will be ready to serve at 7:00 AM.
We will have breakfast with a view of the forest island here.
Breakfast here is simple and not very diverse, but it is good enough for breakfast.
It will be fried eggs, scrambled eggs, rice porridge, toast, coffee, and fruit, something like that.
After breakfast, we were ready to continue exploring the island.
Leaving my stuff here for a bit, will pick it up on the way back.
Then we went for a motorbike ride around the island.
Unfortunately, there was one thing we missed this time, so we might have to come back and finish the job.
That is, we didn't see any hornbills.
Hornbills are considered another symbol of Koh Yao Noi.
A friend who lives on the island told me that they usually come out quite often and aren't hard to find.
Sometimes they even walk on the road like chickens, haha!
But this time we weren't lucky enough to see any hornbills. No worries, we'll come back again!
Along the way, you will see some houses of local people, most of whom are Muslims.
There are rubber plantations and goat farms.
Look here... Look at the camera. So cute >.<
Ride a motorbike a little further to
The Rest Calm Restaurant
This is a restaurant that everyone who visits Koh Yao Noi must stop by and relax at.
The restaurant boasts a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, with a unique and eclectic style. It serves simple food, traditional coffee, and snacks.
Come here and have fun with cute things. If you come with a group, order a set of "Khanom Krok" and enjoy making it together.
I've always wanted to try making "Khanom Krok", so I ordered a set for 199 baht.
You can make about 3-4 pieces.
One set includes a charcoal stove, pre-mixed flour, coconut milk, and toppings such as spring onions, corn, and oil for greasing the kue pukis mold.
The sea lion had a fun time trying out "khanom krok" for the first time.
It doesn't look too bad... It's edible.
The technique is to heat the pan first, pour in the batter once, close the lid when the batter starts to cook, pour in the coconut milk, then add the toppings, close the lid for a while, and don't pry it open when it's not cooked yet or it will be mushy and won't hold its shape.
It's fun, but you can only eat a maximum of two pairs. You need to come with a lot of people to help you eat it.
Other dishes ordered include
spaghetti with olive oil and shrimp
Lime tea, green tea
(Actually ordered old-fashioned iced tea, but somehow got green tea)
I can't remember the exact name, but it was something like "Seafood in a Mortar." The taste was good, but the papaya salad went bad a bit too quickly after being left out for a while.
Overall, I personally think the taste of the food and drinks is just average.
The good thing is the atmosphere and the uniqueness, but it's a bit too hot.
The price is not cheap, so it's suitable for sitting and having a drink or a snack, but not for a main meal.
The view is beautiful and the seating is comfortable. If only there was a cool breeze, it would be perfect for relaxing.
Let's continue, riding from the beach to the island, passing through the rice fields yesterday.
Then, take a break and relax while enjoying the birds and the trees at the Cozy Corner.
**<p style="align
It serves as both accommodation and a restaurant with a beautiful view, perfect for relaxing. It's like a home away from home. . .
Another great spot to sit, but you might want to wait until the sun goes down and the wind picks up, is in front of the Cape Gudu Hotel.
There's a Cafe Kantary next to the hotel where you can order drinks and food.
It can get quite hot during the day, but yesterday when I went around four or five in the afternoon, the breeze was nice and cool.
It's time to head back to shore. Two days and one night on Koh Yao Noi have been truly magical.
The peaceful atmosphere, the tranquility, and the friendly locals made the island a truly special place.
It was time to return to the mainland. We rode our motorbike back to the pier and returned it. We then purchased tickets for the ferry directly at the pier where we would board.
On the return trip, we took the regular ferry, which cost 120 baht. We disembarked at the Tha Len pier, where we had parked our car.
If you haven't been to Koh Yao Noi yet, you should make time to visit and stay overnight. If you love peace and nature, you'll find that...
Koh Yao Noi is my little Paradise !!!! ^_^
