Embark on a Boat Tour of Chumphon's Islands

If you're visiting the sea, and you'd like to go snorkeling in the Chumphon Archipelago, you can do so. The boat departs from Ban Thung Tom Yai, and it will take you to various snorkeling spots. It's a private boat that costs 2,000 baht per boat, and it can accommodate up to 15 people. If you split the cost among several people, I think it's a very worthwhile snorkeling trip, costing only a few hundred baht per person. If you want to go snorkeling, you can rent snorkeling equipment for an additional 40 baht per person. The boat will take you on a tour of the Chumphon Archipelago, stopping at various points with beautiful coral reefs, such as Koh Mat Wai Yai, Koh Klaep, and Koh Kula.

During the boat trip, the weather was quite pleasant. The sky was clear and bright. While on the boat, we could see small beaches and numerous small islands in Chumphon Archipelago.

The surrounding area of the island is a beautiful coral reef where you can park your boat and go snorkeling.

The boat took us on a tour of Koทะลุ, where during low tide, a hole can be seen through to the other side of the island.

The area of Koh Klet, which has a long stretch of rocky beach, also boasts beautiful coral reefs.

Behind Koh Klet Kaeo, there is a large rock formation that resembles the face of a Native American.

The beaches of Koh Kula are beautiful, with clear water and surrounding coral reefs. Visitors can walk or relax on the beach for a park fee of 40 baht per person. For those interested in an overnight stay, the park offers three bungalows for 1,200 baht per night, accommodating 4-5 guests. A camping area is also available, with electricity from 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM. For those staying on the island, meals are provided for 600 baht per person (all three meals).

Squid fishing and enjoying fresh squid from the sea!

For an unforgettable evening activity during your stay at Baan Tong Tom Yai, squid fishing is a must-try. You can charter a boat for a short trip just off the coast (2,000 baht per boat, maximum 15 passengers). Squid fishing trips depart in the evening, around 6:00 PM. Before setting sail, be sure to pack your gear, water, and drinks. If you'd like to savor fresh squid sashimi, don't forget to bring seafood dipping sauce or wasabi on board. The boat will take you a short distance from the shore... then anchor and turn on the lights to attract the squid.

As the squid became more active, a long fishing line with a hook attached was used to catch them.

It didn't take long before the first squid was caught!

Freshly caught squid boasts exceptional freshness, allowing for immediate consumption. Enjoy it raw with seafood dipping sauce or wasabi like sashimi. Alternatively, lightly grill it over low heat for an equally enticing aroma. The possibilities extend beyond immediate consumption, as it serves as a versatile ingredient for various delectable dishes. Fresh squid—a culinary delight in any form, wouldn't you agree?

Freshly caught squid, with its pigment cells still active, shimmers and pulsates with vibrant colors.

Hold on... Let's try slicing and eating it fresh on the boat for a bit.

Slice the squid and wash it thoroughly. Then cut it into bite-sized pieces.

Dip the fresh squid in the spicy seafood sauce you prepared (or try it with wasabi if you prefer). The fresh squid will have a slightly sweet flavor.

Some of the squid caught were also grilled over a low flame, which was delicious.

This trip to "Big Mud Flats" was a lot of fun. I got to stay in a small fishing community on the coast, where I witnessed their simple way of life amidst the natural beauty. It's an experience I highly recommend.

Most importantly, the most memorable aspect of this trip was the opportunity to savor fresh seafood. Relaxing and indulging in delicious food was a truly delightful experience.
