Hello everyone, have you ever been afraid to travel during the rainy season? I was one of those people who thought for a long time about whether or not to go. I was afraid of the rain and all the other things that could happen. But you know what? It was totally worth the risk to go. One Saturday morning, I was so bored that I lay in bed thinking about where to go during the rainy season. Why was I so bored? Then, that morning, I thought of a place I really wanted to visit. I had read reviews from many people who had been there before, and that place was Chiang Khan. So I decided to go to Chiang Khan. The first thing I did was check the weather forecast. Haha, the forecast said there would be thunderstorms. But I thought, "What the heck, I've already made up my mind, so I'll go this Friday." In the afternoon, I booked accommodation and a bus ticket.

- Day 1 -
[ Departure ]

On Friday evening, I finished work and headed straight to Mo Chit. The traffic was heavy, and it looked like it might rain. I didn't want to wait any longer, so I called a motorcycle taxi, which quickly took me to the bus station. I was taking the 8:00 PM Air Muang Loei bus to Chiang Khan. Since I arrived early, I waited for the bus. Around 7:00 PM, the bus pulled in. I quickly grabbed my bag and hopped on.

[ Car ]

My seat was A3, which was quite spacious. The seats were arranged in rows of three, with mine being a single seat on the side. The bus provided a blanket and the seats were comfortable. The air conditioning was so cold that I had to close the vent! One thing everyone would appreciate is the USB charging port next to the seat. The bus started rolling at 8:16 PM, and the staff began distributing water and snacks. Time to get some rest and see you all in Chiang Khan tomorrow morning!

Good morning, almost 9 hours have passed. When I woke up again, I had arrived in Chiang Khan. Looking out of the car, the roadside was full of thick fog. I wondered if I would see a sea of fog when I went to Phu Tok tomorrow. It was almost six o'clock, and I was almost there. On the way, I sat and watched the roadside full of morning fog. I could feel the fresh air and listened to some light and comfortable music. I arrived in Chiang Khan at 5:54 am. There were uncles waiting to provide skylab cars for the trip to Phu Tok. After getting off the car, I went to the accommodation I booked from agoda. I stayed at "Baan Chan Kiang". While I was walking to the accommodation, the monks were on their alms round. In the end, I was in time for the morning sticky rice alms. I met an aunt who was selling alms, so I bought some and sat next to a grandmother who was waiting to give alms. The grandmother was very kind. She gave me sticky rice to put in the alms bowl for free because the alms set I bought did not have sticky rice.

I'm feeling great since I arrived. After offering food to the monks, I went to find the accommodation I had booked. I walked until I reached the place, but it wasn't open yet.

Let's grab a bite to eat first. If we walk a little further, we'll find a restaurant called "I'm Full and Delicious." Let's stop there and have lunch. I'll have congee and fried eggs.

After breakfast, we sat by the Mekong River and took photos until 8:00 AM. We then called the accommodation, and the owner allowed us to leave our belongings. After washing up, we decided to rent bicycles and explore the area. Next to our accommodation was a bicycle rental shop owned by a very kind grandmother. Her shop, "Sriphan," offered bicycle rentals, a restaurant, and accommodation all in one place. With our bicycles, we set off to explore Chiang Khan.

Accommodation

I cycled around Chiang Khan until around eleven o'clock when the housekeeper started cleaning the accommodation. I took the opportunity to check into my room. Luckily, I got a room on the upper balcony overlooking the Mekong River. Looking across, I could see the neighboring country. The balcony rooms are divided into upper, middle, and lower levels. All rooms have shared bathrooms except for the middle level rooms, which have private bathrooms. My upper balcony room is located right on the Mekong River and has a balcony with a view. The lower balcony rooms are located on the walking street.

After settling into my accommodation, I had lunch at Sri Pann Restaurant. Then, I returned to my room to rest and recharge for the evening, when I planned to visit the walking street. As it was the rainy season, the weather was pleasant and cool. The location, right by the Mekong River, was simply amazing.

Waking up to a late afternoon, the walking street was already bustling with vendors setting up their stalls. After a quick shower, I was ready to explore, but first, I remembered that I hadn't rented a motorbike for tomorrow's trip. On Soi 9, there was a motorbike rental shop called "Uncle Phochana Karn." I asked Uncle when I had to return the bike. He said that I had to return it at the same time tomorrow, but it was okay if I stayed at Chan Kian and returned it a little later. The time didn't matter. Hmm, ^^ With the bike secured, I went to fill up the tank, getting ready for tomorrow's adventure.

With transportation settled, it was finally time for the main event: exploring the walking street. People were starting to gather, and there was a wide variety of food, snacks, and souvenirs to enjoy and browse.

After a tiring walk and a satisfying meal, I returned to my room to rest and prepare for tomorrow's sunrise at Phu Tok. Today, the rain held off, and hopefully, it will continue to do so tomorrow. Fingers crossed! 555555

- Day 3 -

[ Sea of Mist ]

The alarm clock went off at five in the morning. After washing my face and brushing my teeth, I grabbed my camera and started my motorbike to go to Phu Tok (Please don't rain!). I opened the GPS and drove to the starting point. There is a service point for cars going up to Phu Tok. I bought a ticket and got on the car.

The rain started to fall suddenly, and I wondered if I would be able to plant the lemongrass in time. The driver steered the car up to Phu Thok, and by the time we reached the top, the rain was falling heavily. After a while, the rain stopped, and then what I had been waiting for finally appeared. The fog began to move in as if it had been timed, and a beautiful rainbow appeared. There was so much fog that I couldn't see anything, but I was so happy that I couldn't help but laugh.

I sat on the top of the mountain for about an hour before heading back down to ride my motorbike to Kaeng Kut Ku. The air was fresh after the rain, and the sides of the road were full of trees and grass. It didn't take long to reach Kaeng Kut Ku.

To conclude the morning, we visited Wat Phra Phutthabat Phu Kwai Ngern to pay respects to the Buddha. The temple is not far from Kaeng Kut Ku, about a 15-minute drive. At the temple, there are rabbits that we can buy food for, and there is also a viewpoint.

After paying respects at the temple, we returned to our accommodation to collect our belongings and move to our next accommodation, which was the "Capsule Hostel." The beds were surprisingly spacious and very comfortable.

I'm hungry after going out since morning. Let's go find something to eat. I found a restaurant called "Eat Deliciously to Your Heart's Content", so I ordered khao piak and fried egg. Before going back to sleep at the hostel.

As evening approached, it was time to return. I was reluctant to leave, as it was so different from Bangkok. It was quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. However, I had to return to work to earn money for my next trip. On the way back, I took the same Air Mueang Loei bus as before, departing at 7:00 PM. The boarding point was the same as the drop-off point, near the Shell gas station.

I apologize for any errors. Thank you to everyone who read this, even though it may be a bit long. Please bear with me. ^^ 55555
