...........

Every time we... want to travel... want to journey...

And we always end up going north, south...

Until we forget that Thailand... still has many places...

That hide Unseen... things...

Waiting for travelers like us to go out and find... to experience

....

And this time, I #ฅนชอบเที่ยว will take everyone...

To travel to discover the Unssen of 3 provinces...

That is... Isan North, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan

.....

Check-in points for this trip

  • Point 1: Wat Pa Phu Kon, Udon Thani Province
  • Point 2: (Sky Walk) Wat Pha Tak Seua, Nong Khai Province
  • Point 3: Tham Piang Din, Nong Khai Province
  • Point 4: Phu Huai Isan, Nong Khai Province
  • Point 5: Phu Tok, Bueng Kan Province
  • Point 6: Hin Sam Waan, Phu Sing, Bueng Kan Province
  • Point 7: Red Lotus Sea, Udon Thani Province

Transportation

  • Private car For those who have a private car, head to Udon Thani from Bangkok, stopping at various check-in points and staying overnight in Nong Khai for 1 night, followed by another night in Bueng Kan.
  • Flying Fly to Udon Thani and rent a car to explore the 3 provinces, starting from Udon Thani, stopping at various check-in points, and staying overnight in Nong Khai for 1 night, followed by another night in Bueng Kan. (Convenient as you don't have to drive back and forth between Bangkok and Udon Thani, approximately 1,200 km.)

Key Information

  • 3 days and 2 nights is enough to comfortably explore 3 provinces in Northeast Thailand.
  • Hiking up Phu Tok in Bueng Kan requires a significant amount of time due to the continuous stairs. Allow 2-3 hours for the climb, depending on your fitness level. (It's quite strenuous!)
  • Reaching Hin Sam Waan requires a 4x4 vehicle or a lifted pickup truck. You can hire one for 500 baht.

Travel insurance

If I need to fly to another province, I usually choose to use domestic travel insurance.

Tipyapi Insurance offers the best value for money, with high coverage and affordable prices.

Easy to buy through the website or app. For us backpackers who are always on the go,

Hiking and climbing mountains… travel insurance is something I never overlook.

Two coverage plans are available.

1. One-way trip 55 baht

2. Round trip 129 baht, coverage throughout the trip

At just over a hundred baht, it's cheaper than buying coffee from an expensive chain, yet it offers coverage of up to 4 million baht.

In case of death, illness, or damaged luggage, the device is excellent. It also offers 24/7 emergency assistance.

In addition, the price and coverage are so good that I would like to whisper that travel insurance purchased directly from the airline does not offer such high coverage.

TIPS Simply tick the "travel insurance" box when booking your flight ticket, then purchase it yourself from an online insurance company like TIP FLY SURE. You'll get a price that's less than half the cost… with almost the same coverage. Use the remaining money to buy yourself a coffee…. That's the main point for me, haha!

With travel tips and insurance in place, let's embark on our journey.

Stop 1: Wat Pa Phu Kon, Udon Thani Province

A temple nestled on a mountain, surrounded by the lush forests of Na Yoo and Nam Som.

Point 2: Sky Walk at Wat Pha Tak Sue, Nong Khai Province

Located 50 kilometers from Wat Pa Phu Kon (approximately 1 hour drive), the Sky Walk at Wat Pha Tak Sue is another popular viewpoint. During the late rainy season and early winter, this spot offers breathtaking views of the mist-filled valleys, making it arguably one of the most stunning locations to witness the sea of fog.

The river you see is the Mekong River.

Over there! Laos, right?

Next Check-in Point: Point 3: Tham Piang Din, Nong Khai Province

Located just a short distance from the Sky Walk at Wat Pha Tak Suea, Tham Piang Din, also known as "Tham Phaya Nak" by locals, is a cave believed to have a passage connecting Thailand under the Mekong River to Laos.

The cave is beautifully and perfectly lit.

This place is incredibly remote, with a very narrow entrance that required us to literally squeeze through. 55+ (indicating laughter)

After a long day of exploring, it's time to head to our accommodation.

We drove from Tham Phaeng Din Cave to Sangkhom District, a 45-minute journey covering approximately 50 kilometers.

..

And here is our accommodation for tonight, a riverside hut that can accommodate 4 people for only 800 baht.

The second floor has a balcony where you can sit and enjoy the cool breeze.

A New Day, A New Challenge: Exploring Phu Huai Isan in Nong Khai

The alarm clock blares at 4:30 AM, signaling the start of a new day and a new adventure. Our destination: Phu Huai Isan, a stunning mountain range in Nong Khai province.

After a quick preparation, we head to the designated pick-up point for the local "อีแต๊น" (tractor-trailer) ride, a mere 5 minutes from our accommodation. As we arrive at 5:00 AM, a queue of these unique vehicles awaits, their drivers eager to transport us up the mountain.

With payment settled, we hop onto one of the "อีแต๊น" and embark on our journey. The pre-dawn darkness envelops us, offering a brief opportunity for a well-deserved nap before the day's activities begin.

The sunrise today was truly magnificent.

Admiring the View

This phrase translates to "admiring the view" in English. It is a simple and concise way to describe the act of enjoying a scenic vista.

The original Thai phrase uses the verb "นั่ง" (nang), which means "to sit". This suggests that the speaker is taking a moment to relax and appreciate the view. The noun "วิว" (view) refers to the scenery that is being observed.

The phrase can be used in a variety of contexts, such as describing a tourist enjoying a beautiful landscape or a homeowner relaxing on their porch. It is a versatile phrase that can be used to convey a sense of peace and tranquility.

Enjoy the view

And here is our hero, the "E-tan car", chugging safely up the mountain.^^

Thank you to the uncle driver who took our picture.

8:30 AM, time to get off the mountain.

It takes about 20 minutes to ride an e-tan down from the mountain.

We quickly packed our things to continue our journey to Phu Tok, which is quite far away.

The journey takes about 4 hours, approximately 250 km.

And this is the 5th point: Phu Tok, Bueng Kan Province. Just looking at the picture makes my legs hurt, ouch!! 555+

The provided text is empty. There is nothing to translate.

Being afraid of heights, I had to hold onto the railing the whole time while taking pictures.

The path up and down is pleasantly shaded.

Point 6: Hin Sam Waan, Phu Sing, Bueng Kan Province

This point is accessible by 4x4 vehicles or lifted pickup trucks only. If you are driving a sedan, you can contact the park officials to arrange a ride up for 500 baht.

Hin Sam Waan is a highlight of this trip. From a high vantage point, you can see three rocks resembling a whale, its mate, and their calf.

The sun sets over the horizon, signaling the time to return to our accommodation.

Point 7: Red Lotus Sea, Udon Thani

Our final stop on this trip was the Red Lotus Sea in Udon Thani. We left Bueng Kan early in the morning to catch the lotus flowers in bloom, as they only open during the early hours.
