On a Sunday morning, we departed from Paris and arrived in Reims, a small town in northeastern France. Our intention was to visit and stay overnight before continuing our journey to Belgium the next day. We had an appointment in Bruges, another beautiful city in northern Europe.

Another atmosphere of the Reims tour…

A little over 140 kilometers, taking just over 2 hours from Paris to Reims. Reims is located in the Champagne-Ardenne region, home to champagne, the drink of celebration. A major religious site is Reims Cathedral, a small city with many charms.

We arrived in Reims around noon on a Sunday. The city was nearly deserted, with most shops closed. It was a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of Paris, the European metropolis we had just left. Speaking of Paris, since we are already in France, it would be remiss of us not to mention it. After all, we spent a whole day exploring the city.

The Eiffel Tower, a symbol of Paris, France…

The journey begins in three countries: France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Starting from… Bangkok, our home, we flew a long flight to connect in Doha, Qatar, before taking another long flight of almost 7 hours to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, France. We arrived in the early morning, feeling a bit blurry after getting off the plane, but we were not afraid to travel and adapt easily. No matter how tired or sore we were, we fought… fought… fought.

The Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris…

The main street in Reims

The main street in Reims is quite busy on weekdays, but not as crowded as Paris, as the city is relatively small. The main street connects the economic district to major tourist attractions, all within walking distance. If you have a bicycle, it's even easier to get around, as many locals use bicycles as their primary mode of transportation. Alternatively, you can take a tram to explore the city.

A leisurely Sunday spent enjoying drinks and food for an extended period.

Stroll through the city...

To clarify, the economic zone mentioned here should not be envisioned as a large-scale development. Rather, it consists of a series of shops and restaurants arranged in rows within the heart of a small town. There are no shopping malls that consolidate everything in one location; instead, there are small stores arranged in a continuous block, which is quite charming. Unfortunately, many of them were closed today, but that's alright because I'm not particularly fond of shopping anyway. I prefer to observe the cityscape, its beauty, and its unique characteristics. I'm not a shopper; I'm an observer.

Strolling along the main street, passing various shops, and turning onto another street, the only one shared by trams, bicycles, cars, and buses. It's amazing! Walking further, you will reach the Reims Cathedral, a major tourist attraction in Reims. Reims Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Reims Cathedral

The external architecture bears a striking resemblance to Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, suggesting a possible inspiration. However, the intricate details and sculptures differ significantly. The historical context remains unclear, but let's appreciate its aesthetic beauty as tourists. If you're curious about its history, ample resources are available for further exploration.

Reims Cathedral

Due to the scorching summer sun, we spent a considerable amount of time seeking refuge within the Reims Cathedral. The cathedral's European-style architecture and refreshingly cool interior provided a welcome respite from the heat. Despite our initial reluctance to venture outside, we eventually embarked on a leisurely stroll through the city streets. As we meandered through the unfamiliar alleyways and avenues, we marveled at the unique charm and architectural diversity of the city.

Throughout the afternoon, we spent nearly five hours wandering around, stopping for ice cream, and nearly falling asleep in a church. We did everything we could to soak up the essence of Reims, knowing that the chance to return would be slim and uncertain. Regrettably, due to travel constraints and minor setbacks, we were unable to experience the birthplace of champagne.

This evening, we are staying here. Tomorrow, we must continue our journey. Often, when I encounter new worlds, I want to capture every detail to share. However, upon further reflection, I choose to be a small driving force for those who yearn to travel to new places and experience new things. Therefore, I will not delve into excessive details. It is better to see with your own eyes and experience with your own senses.

Farewell, Reims.

"Stay tuned for our next adventure, where we'll explore the captivating beauty of the Netherlands!"
