The Chao Phraya River, a large river that flows through Bangkok, is a great place to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The sound of the water, the wind, and the lights at night create a peaceful and serene atmosphere. On this particular evening, we enjoyed a delicious dinner on a traditional Thai boat as we cruised along the river. The food was excellent, and the views were stunning. It was the perfect way to end a long day.

Glass Boat Ticket

We booked two seats on the Glass Boat through the Line ID: @ontourtravel (with @). During the booking process, the staff asked for the date, number of people, and the desired meal set, which included Thai and seafood options. We then made the payment, and the booking was complete.

On the day of the trip, we could pick up our tickets at the Glass Boat office at River City Pier, Soi Charoen Krung 24, from 6:30 PM onwards. We received a sticker to wear on our chest and a table number. Before boarding the boat, we were greeted by staff in Thai attire. We presented the sticker, and they attached it to our chest and pinned a lily flower on us.

Dining Table (Number 4)

After boarding the boat, the staff will lead us to our table. Our table is number 4, which seats two people. The table faces the bow of the boat, so we will be sitting next to the person we came with. For those who come alone or in groups of four or more, you will be seated at a table on the other side of the boat, facing each other so that you can talk to each other.

On the right corner of the table, you will find a menu. One side features a set of Thai dishes, while the other side offers a seafood set. The dishes are listed in the order they will be served on the boat.

Snacks and Dips

Awaiting the arrival of the first dish, the table was adorned with a bowl of roasted peanuts in a coconut shell. Alongside, seafood and satay dipping sauces were presented, ready to accompany the upcoming culinary experience.

Seafood Set

Chicken Satay

The first dish was chicken satay, two skewers served with crispy vermicelli noodles drizzled with coconut milk. Dipped in the accompanying sauce, it was a delicious appetizer.

Tom Yum Goong

Tom Yum Goong was served in a small soup cup with two small prawns. The broth was not spicy, likely catering to foreigners who might not be accustomed to the fiery flavors of authentic Thai cuisine. Nevertheless, it was a refreshing palate cleanser after the chicken satay.

Seafood Set

The seafood set was presented in a large woven basket, accompanied by steaming hot rice. It included:

  • Grilled Prawns (3)

These were my favorite. The prawns were fresh and perfectly cooked, with juicy heads full of roe. Dipped in the seafood sauce, they were pure heaven for any prawn lover.

  • Grilled Squid

The squid tentacles were stuffed inside the body, making them easy to eat. The flesh was chewy and flavorful.

  • Grilled Mussels

Large mussels were coated in cheese and served on a bed of stir-fried vegetables with garlic. The combination of flavors was well-balanced and delicious.

  • Baked Sweet Potato

A large, foil-wrapped sweet potato, cut into four wedges, was perfectly cooked.

  • Corn

Sweet and juicy corn cobs were a delightful accompaniment to the sweet potato.

  • Garlic Bread

Crispy garlic bread was a satisfying snack.

  • Grilled Salmon

Grilled salmon was served on a bed of fragrant rice, topped with a sweet and savory sauce. It was delicious on its own or with the rice.

  • Rice

The yellow rice was visually appealing and contained seaweed. It was flavorful, slightly sweet and salty, with perfectly cooked grains that were neither mushy nor hard.

Fruits and Dessert

The meal concluded with a refreshing selection of fruits, including papaya, watermelon, and pineapple. The sweet treats included custard with shredded egg yolk, a jelly-like dessert (unsure of the exact type), and delicious sticky rice with mango.

Coffee

A hot cup of coffee was the perfect ending to the meal. Guests could choose between tea or coffee, and then add sugar and creamer to their liking.

Entertainment

After the meal, the staff provided a special show featuring a Hanuman performance, a Srivijaya dance, and a Ramwong dance. During the Ramwong, the dancers invited guests to join them, creating a fun and interactive experience. All the performances were impressive and drew enthusiastic applause.

Ambiance

The final video captures the beautiful scenery along the river and on the boat as we sailed back to the pier.

The atmosphere around the boat is very relaxing. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery and the cool breeze while you're on the boat.

This trip is more focused on the atmosphere and relaxation, rather than the food. So, you can expect to enjoy the beautiful scenery, the cool breeze, and the unique Thai atmosphere.

The boat trip is from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The price is 890 baht per person. This is a promotional price! The full price is around 1300 baht.

The boat departs from Pier 1, River City, Charoen Krung 24.
