The First Stop: Huashan 1914 Creative Park

Our first stop is Huashan 1914 Creative Park (華山1914文化創意產業園區), a former winery and cigarette factory transformed into a vibrant art center. This unique blend of retro charm and modern art creates a truly hip atmosphere. With numerous restaurants, shops, and photogenic corners, Huashan 1914 is a must-visit destination. Let's explore the park and discover its trendy allure.

There are many restaurants here, and the one we chose was Daylight.

After leaving Huashan 1914 Creative Park, if you are taking the MRT, exit at Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall Station, Exit 5.

Currently, there is some ongoing maintenance at the location.

The Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, constructed in 1980 to commemorate the fifth anniversary of his passing, took three years to complete. The 76-meter-tall memorial draws inspiration from Beijing's Temple of Heaven, featuring an octagonal blue roof and a shape resembling the Chinese character "ren" (meaning "people"). This design symbolizes the public's respect and admiration for Chiang Kai-shek, elevating him to the heavens.

When looking at the statues inside, if you look at the direction they are facing, they are facing China. This is because in 1949, Chiang Kai-shek, the leader of the Kuomintang, was removed from his position as President of China and had to flee to Taiwan. He made Taipei the capital, hoping to make Taiwan a base to resist the communist power in mainland China and regain power. This led to Taiwan's rapid development in many areas.

The marble staircase has 89 steps in total (84 outside and 5 inside the hall), corresponding to the age of the Buddha.

The building is decorated in only three colors: white (marble buildings and stairs), blue (roof), and red (carpets inside and decorative flowers), which are the colors of the Taiwanese flag.
