Nakhorn Phanom: Pay Homage to the 8 Relics of the Buddha for Your Birthday and Enjoy Sightseeing, Food, and Relaxation by the Mekong River!

“Nong Khai” is a province that I frequently visit and adore. It is a province bordering the Mekong River with stunning scenery, a tranquil atmosphere, and an incredibly relaxing vacation vibe. Additionally, there are numerous delectable riverside eateries to explore. If you have the time, I highly recommend spending a night or two in Nong Khai. You will undoubtedly fall in love with “Nong Khai”!

The main purpose of this trip to Nakhon Phanom Province is to pay respects to the **Phra That for the Day of Birth** for good luck. Although I have been to Nakhon Phanom many times, I have never paid respects to the Phra That for my own day of birth (Monday - Phra That Renu). **Since I am already here**, in addition to paying respects to the Phra That for my own day of birth, I would like to pay respects to all **8 Phra That for the Day of Birth** in **Nakhon Phanom Province**.

Nakhorn Phanom: A Journey Beyond the Birthdays

Beyond the eight revered birthday pagodas, Nakhorn Phanom boasts a wealth of captivating attractions. The Governor's Residence Museum (Old Building), the St. Anna-Nong Saeng Church, and Uncle Ho Chi Minh's House stand as testaments to the city's rich history and cultural tapestry. Join us as we embark on a journey through Nakhorn Phanom, exploring its hidden gems and uncovering the essence of this vibrant city.

Embark on a Journey to Nakhon Phanom Province

This trip began at Don Mueang Airport and headed to Nakhon Phanom Province with AirAsia, offering a comfortable and affordable journey.

After checking in online, I printed my boarding pass and was ready to board the plane.

The weather today is looking very bright, after having had continuous rain for several days. Luckily, this trip probably won't get us as wet as we thought. 55+

Greetings from Nakhon Phanom!

From Don Mueang Airport, it takes only a little over an hour to reach Nakhon Phanom Airport, which is a small but charming airport.

Transportation from Nakhon Phanom Airport to the city center: You can use the airport's transportation service, which has a counter located inside the airport. The counter belongs to Nakhon Khorat Company. The fare to the city center is 100 baht per person per trip. The service can drop you off at your hotel or other designated locations within the city. For your return trip to the airport, you can call the company to arrange a pick-up from your location. Therefore, it is recommended to keep the phone number handy for booking your return trip.

City Transfer service by AirAsia: Connecting flights with ground transportation to Mukdahan province, bordering Nakhon Phanom province.

For this trip, to make it convenient to visit all 8 birthday Buddha relics, I chose to rent a car as my main mode of transportation. This is because the distances between each location are quite far, and in some places, it is difficult to find public transportation. Renting a car is therefore a convenient and fast way to visit all 8 Buddha relics within one day. I contacted a car rental company at Nakhon Phanom Airport, which was also Nakhon Ratchasima Company. The rental price starts at 1,000 baht/day, which is economical and worthwhile if you have friends to share the cost with!
