Welcome back to Blackpink!

This time, I will introduce you to the great length of mine 🤭😅 Oops!! Koh Yao Yai.

🚢🌴 "Koh Yao Yai" is an island that many people may not know where it is located in Thailand.

This island belongs to Phang Nga province, but its location is in the center of three provinces: Phang Nga, Krabi, and Phuket.

For convenience, you can fly to Phuket or Krabi and then take a boat 🚢 from either province.

My primary motivation for visiting this island was the need for physical relaxation after a period of intense exploration, including jungle trekking, diving, and island hopping. During this trip, I desired a more leisurely pace, with ample time for lounging and relaxation. Additionally, considering the rainy season, my primary concern was securing comfortable accommodations with a pleasant ambiance, within my budget. This island emerged as my top choice, further enhanced by its prior appearance in a Hollywood film.

Let's embark on our journey! 🏃‍♂🚗🚢🌴

The concept of travel for people with deep pockets like us is that if a domestic round-trip ticket costs more than 1,500 baht, we won't eat it for sure. Haha. So I looked for flights between Phuket and Krabi, whichever was cheaper. In the end, I got a round-trip ticket from Don Mueang to Phuket for 1,180 baht per person on Lion Air. So I decided to travel to Phuket and then take a boat from Phuket to Koh Yao Yai.

The photo shows a Lion Air flight, but it was actually taken on an AirAsia flight. The flight was at 3 am, so it was a bit dark.

Waking up early to grab cheap tickets

(If any airline sponsors me, I'll film everything down to the last nut and bolt.) Haha.

Now it's our airline's turn, we have to give them some praise, Lion Air #lionair

This is the first time I've flown domestically on a low-cost airline that offers in-flight entertainment on personal monitors. This feature is typically only found on long-haul flights with premium airlines. Lion Air's innovation is truly impressive.

Let's put the praise aside for now and get started with our actual topic.

My primary goal for this three-day, two-night trip was to relax, explore, and take pictures. To capture the essence of two distinct accommodations, I opted to stay at a different hotel each night. The first night was spent at Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort & Spa, while the second was at Koh Yao Yai Village & Spa.

To Phuket Airport

After an enjoyable gaming session, we arrived at Phuket International Airport. While waiting for our free checked baggage from Lion Air, we took some cool photos to pass the time.

To travel from Phuket Airport to Koh Yao Yai, you will need to go to Bang Rong Pier.

Based on my research, the most convenient way to travel is by taxi from the airport. If you're looking for a more economical option, you can take a bus into the city and then transfer to another bus (the specific route is unclear) to reach Bang Rong Pier. However, this option will almost double your travel time. The taxi fare from the airport to Bang Rong Pier is 600 baht. If you find a cheaper fare, consider yourself lucky! I was fortunate enough to have a friendly driver who, seeing that I had arrived on an early flight and might be hungry, took me to get some food. Although his southern dialect was a bit difficult to understand, it was a kind gesture. P.S. If anyone wants the contact number of the taxi driver, feel free to message me privately.

The taxi driver recommended a dim sum restaurant. I'm not a big fan of dim sum, but the rice porridge was delicious.

With the fleet ready, the army was able to continue its journey.

We have finally arrived at Bang Rong Pier. Boats depart every hour and can take you to both Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai.

Head to Koh Yao Yai

After a 30-minute boat ride, we arrived at the port of Koh Yao Yai.

Upon arrival at the pier, we were greeted by a line of songthaews (shared taxis) waiting to transport passengers. As our resort, Santikhiri Koh Yao Yai Resort & Spa, was located a considerable distance from the pier, we had to negotiate a fare with one of the drivers. After some bargaining, I settled on a price of 700 baht for the journey to our accommodation.

After a scenic drive through the palm and rubber plantations, we finally arrived at our destination.

Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort & Spa

While waiting to check in to our room, we took a leisurely stroll and snapped some photos. We then relaxed and waited in the cozy library.

Finally, it was time to head to our rooms. Most of the rooms here are located on top of a hill. To get there, we had to take the resort's shuttle bus, as walking would have been quite a trek.

Upon entering the room, you will be greeted by a welcome letter. The package is very cool. Let's take a look at the room.

Stepping into the room, I let my body fall onto the bed, intending to take a quick nap. When I woke up with a start, the sun had already set. My plan to go for a dip in the pool had to be put on hold, as my stomach was now growling insistently.

A delightful dinner with a relaxing atmosphere by the sea.

While dining, guests can enjoy live music and a captivating light show.

After finishing the meal, I sat down to chat and relax for a while.

Let's enjoy the atmosphere at night before we go to bed. Sweet dreams and good night.

Greetings.

On the second morning of our stay on Koh Yao Yai, we had to check out of our accommodation at Santhiya. However, before leaving, we decided to take a dip in the resort's iconic swimming pool, a must-do activity for any visitor to the island.

From our room, we can walk up the hill to have breakfast. No need to take the shuttle bus. It only takes a 5-minute walk, and you can take photos along the way.

The highlight of the resort is the infinity pool, which is conveniently located next to our breakfast room. We packed our swimsuits, so we can jump in right after breakfast.

Upon waking, one may experience a state of disorientation.

For breakfast today, I devoured 3 eggs, fearing I wouldn't get my money's worth.

After filling my stomach, I took some photos to capture the atmosphere before diving in. Otherwise, I'll lose my composure and won't be able to take cool photos.

This is undoubtedly the most popular spot for taking photos. Whether you turn sideways, face the camera, or turn your back, every angle is stunning.

After making full use of the swimming pool facilities (swimming for 10 minutes and taking photos for half an hour), we prepared to return to our room and pack our bags for our next destination.

Walk and pose for photos at 2-3 spots along the way. 😉

Another reason why we chose to stay here is the jacuzzi on the balcony with a stunning ocean view. Who could resist such a temptation? We immediately booked our stay.

It's time to check out of Santikhiri Koh Yao Yai Resort & Spa. I'm very impressed with the resort, even though I accidentally slept for half a day on the first day. If I have the chance, I will definitely come back again. Another thing I regret is that the resort prohibits drone flying, so I missed the opportunity to capture aerial photos. I'm a little disappointed about that.

A captivating glimpse of the idyllic beachfront at Santikhiri Koh Yao Yai Resort & Spa.

This evocative phrase effectively conveys the essence of the original text while maintaining a formal and concise tone. It highlights the resort's stunning beachfront location, enticing potential visitors to experience its beauty firsthand.

Head to Laem Had.

Laem Had is another highlight of Koh Yao Yai. As we mentioned earlier, even Hollywood movies have been filmed here.

We met the same driver who picked us up from the pier. Before heading to Laem Had, Bang offered to show us around, starting with Ao Sai. I can't remember the exact name, but it was something like White Sand Beach. Haha.

Please provide the text you want me to translate, and I will do my best to deliver an accurate and natural-sounding translation in English.

Following the white sand beach, we continue to the famous dessert and souvenir of Koh Yao, the "Ba Bin" coconut cake.

At "Ja Ree Banana Coconut Pancakes" shop, we had the opportunity to witness the meticulous preparation process firsthand, from the stove itself.

It's time for a lunch break to recharge your body at a local restaurant with a view of the rice fields along the way to Laem Had.

We finally arrived at the highlight of the day, "Laem Had." If I remember the title correctly, it should be the movie "The Mechanic Resurrection" starring Jason Statham. The day I went, the wind was very strong, so strong that I didn't dare to fly the drone. I was afraid it would fall into the sea. It's a pity, otherwise I would have been able to show off some beautiful aerial shots.

It's time to enter the accommodation review mode with "Owl Tour" haha! Tonight we will be staying at "Koh Yao Yai Village & Spa".

After checking in at our accommodation, we arranged for the driver, Bang, to pick us up the following day.

Welcome drink with butterfly pea flower juice, served with refreshing rain.

The weather today is not very cooperative, with rain falling intermittently. However, this has enhanced the resort's atmosphere, making it feel more like being stranded on an island. The resort has made a concerted effort to create an environment that simulates the experience of being on a remote island, closely resembling nature. There are numerous large trees, giving the impression of sleeping in the midst of a dense, humid jungle.

While the rain keeps us indoors, let's take a look at some hotel reviews to pass the time.

An open-air shower, immersing you in the heart of nature.

The exterior of the room also has a balcony for the little ones to relax, very peaceful.

With the skies clear, it's time to head out and enjoy the water.

The resort boasts two swimming pools, but one was undergoing maintenance during my visit and therefore not captured in my photos. However, the infinity pool, which is a major highlight of the property, was open and accessible.

It also has a whirlpool.

Unfortunately, the sky was overcast. Otherwise, this angle would have offered a stunning view of the Khao Lek and Khao Yai mountains, standing side by side in the distance.

The pool bar offers a wide selection of beverages to suit your taste.

Make the most of the last day of your vacation so you can sleep soundly tonight.

The last morning on Koh Yao Yai

Waking up early to catch the breeze and the red light, but in the end, the rain still falls lightly as usual. Let's go have breakfast with the sound of rain before saying goodbye to Koh Yao Yai.

The temple is home to a large population of friendly cats, which roam freely and greet visitors.

Before leaving, take a cool picture as a reminder. Hehe.

This is a rough estimate of the main expenses per person. If you love the sea and want a quiet getaway, I highly recommend this place. Please stay tuned for my next trip!
