Early Morning in Takayama
The morning began with a rude awakening. The sun's rays and the cawing of crows pierced through the window, rousing the ordinary salaryman from his slumber at around 4:30 AM. Despite the early hour, the family wasted no time. They quickly captured the scene of their room, soaked in the hot spring, and dressed with haste. With the husband and child in tow, they set off for the old town of Takayama. Breakfast was not on their minds, as they were still full from the previous night's Hida beef dinner. Backpacks slung over their shoulders and trusty sneakers on their feet, the family embarked on their adventure.
The Old Town of "Hida Takayama"
Located in the heart of Hida Takayama,
on the east bank of the Miyagawa River that flows through the city.
This place is considered an ancient city that has preserved its unique character
since the Edo period (1600-1868).
It has also been preserved in terms of its landscape,
architecture, buildings, and the way of life of the residents in the old town area, preserving the true charm of Takayama in its entirety.
which has also been recognized as a World Heritage Site.
The old buildings that line the streets make tourists from all over the world want to come and experience them, including myself.
After trying it, I can only say that I "fell in love" with this place all over again. Because it is peaceful with the charm of a simple town, the people are not busy, the old Edo-style architecture, the river flowing slowly like the Miyagawa River, and wherever you look, you see mountains embracing the lush greenery in this hot summer. "I love it".

The morning view of Takayama is breathtaking.
It's a completely different experience from the night view we saw yesterday.
Avoiding the main road R74, we took a detour through narrow alleys, believing it would lead us to R158 and eventually to the Miyakawa River. This was based on our rudimentary understanding from the previous night's search for Hida beef. And to our surprise, it worked!
P.S. I just found the map. Why didn't I use this website to do my research before going? I hate myself. Pic credit: JAPANiCAN

Like this idea, look at your shoes so you won't get lost.
Signs to the morning market, the old city area, the old city temple, and the train station. It's complete, great.
Barefaced Lalla
Until I came to the intersection and the bridge, which means we met the Miyakawa River. This is where R158 and Yasukawa meet. Ha!
The streets are a bit empty because it's just past six o'clock. (high-pitched voice)
Before crossing the bridge, we came across a small shrine in the corner. We took a quick detour down the stairs to the pier, taking our time as the villagers were still asleep.
And we were captivated by the Japanese well.
From descending the stairs, we encountered a multitude of koi fish in the flowing water. This marked the beginning of our journey.
We decided to cross the bridge, lingering to admire the view from above. In the distance, we could see the city's renowned red bridge, our next destination.
The end of the bridge leads to Yasukawa Street. I like this angle and this kind of tree. I see it everywhere I go. Does this mean I will see it all over Japan?
Miyagawa Asaichi (Miyagawa Morning Market)
Yes, at the very end of the bridge on that side, we found a morning market that we arrived at even earlier than the market itself.
Since we understand that we will be back later, we decided to leave for now. Some shops haven't even finished setting up their stalls yet.
Seven-Eleven and this street will be decorated in a retro style to match the World Heritage theme of Edo: Hida Takayama. I like it.
.....
And we found
Kami-Sannomachi, Takayama City, Gifu, Japan
Have you ever felt your heart race with anticipation for something you've desired and waited for so long?
That's exactly how I felt at that moment.

Everything is beautiful when there is no chaos.
Probably because the city is still not awake and the tourists are still sleeping. The advantage of getting yourself out of bed earlier than anyone else when traveling is just like this.
I forgot to mention... We only came with three people.
We walked until we found the eel restaurant, then turned right because the watercourse is there ^^
Next to the eel restaurant is the green bridge, before the red bridge
We will never forget the river.
After relaxing by the Miyakawa River, we set out to find the red bridge we saw nearby. Even though there were no cherry blossoms in bloom, it was still beautiful in its own way.
Guess which group reached the bridge first?
It was Moses, of course.
......
Children have started their journey to school.
Next, we started to worry about my husband's sister's group, the grandchildren, and my mother-in-law.
Although we hadn't had enough time to explore the old town, we had to turn back the way we came to find the group that claimed to be following the right path. We finally met them at the bridge. The scene then cuts to the morning market for about an hour before returning to the old town with the large family group.
Therefore, from now on, don't be surprised if the light is in the late morning and people are starting to get busy.
........
After a quick visit to a large group and taking them on a morning market tour,
we returned to the old city again.
This time we went to some other alleys that we hadn't been to before. Each alley had something new and different to see.
It is said that...
This zone is the most complete World Heritage Site in Hida Takayama.
At first, I didn't recognize this building because I didn't notice it. I read a lot of Conan, so I remembered the building from the manga. Haha.
Crossing the street from here, we saw a Korean guy walking alone. Takayama doesn't have as many Chinese people as Korea. He was happy to ask us to take a family photo for him. We said yes, and after that, we said goodbye.
The author expresses their personal preference for a specific presentation method that utilizes water to showcase a model, noting its appeal to both children and adults. Additionally, they highlight the advantages of visiting Japan during the summer, emphasizing the absence of cold weather and the abundance of diverse plant life, including non-cherry blossom flowers and wildflowers.
This is a great item for worshipping deities.
Takayama Sake
I didn't try it. I'm not a god, so I even forgot to adjust the lighting when taking pictures!!
At the end of the converging alley, you will find a shrine. I didn't stop by again as usual.
Looking up at the low hill at the end of the alley, I found a temple. Of course, I didn't go because I had to clear my time to find many other destinations.
The picture below, the tour is here.
I wonder if I'll be able to walk like my mother when I'm in my 70s.

Around 8:00 am, we said goodbye to the old town of Hida and headed back to the hotel to pack our bags and move on to our next destination.
On the way back, the old town was starting to come alive as people began to move around.
Thank you for visiting the charming old town of Hida Takayama.
