Little Mouse has invited us to travel to Switzerland by car. We have already covered two parts of the journey.

If everyone is on board, we can continue our journey.

And so we arrived in Lucerne, a city historically known as the "City of Bridges" because it was the first city in Europe to have four bridges. Therefore, the main goal of everyone who comes to this city is to travel to see, admire, and take selfies with the "bridges," as everyone else does. Upon arrival, we found a suitable parking spot not far from the bridge. Before leaving, we had to pay for parking. How do we do it? No worries, let's first observe how this young man uses the machine.

Observing from afar, we noticed a young man approaching. He must have noticed our hesitation and inexperience, offering helpful advice on how to park and for how long. Contrary to the stereotype of the aloof Swiss, he was incredibly kind and helpful.

Having parked and paid, it's time to explore. This morning, Lucerne is dressed up and waiting for our visit, looking so lovely that we fall in love with it before we even get to know it. What else could it be? The Christmas market, which is just around the corner, is in full swing. It's so lively and bustling that our hearts beat faster. No matter where we walk, we are surrounded by colors, both food and goods, making us almost forget that our mission is to see... the bridge.

A visit to Lucerne wouldn't be complete without seeing the Kapellbrücke, a centuries-old wooden bridge that serves as the city's emblem. Spanning the Reuss River, it connects the old and new sections of the city and is linked to the historic Wasserturm, a former prison tower that now houses a water reservoir.

Each bridge pier features a painted historical narrative.

Spreuer Bridge, a wooden bridge that is approximately 75 years younger than the famous Kapellbrücke wooden bridge.

Water Management in Lucerne

The Spreuer Bridge features approximately 67 gable paintings depicting various themes related to death.

Another must-see is the Lion Monument of Lucerne (Lowendenkmal), a poignant tribute to the Swiss soldiers who died fighting for King Louis XVI during the French Revolution. The lion's expression, etched in stone, conveys profound pain and suffering, a testament to the sculptor's exceptional skill.

His expression is truly pained.

It seems we were at the wrong place at the wrong time. We were so engrossed in the shops at the market, which had a wide variety of goods, even if we didn't buy anything, it was worth seeing and looking at. And the shops that sold souvenirs, the members spent their time shopping for souvenirs to take home to their families, buying several pieces when they found something they liked. Or to put it simply, we walked until we forgot the time. We only realized that we were close to the time we had paid for parking when it was ten minutes away. This made the eldest brother and the youngest daughter run back to the car, which was not close at all. The reason we ran back was to put in more coins to "extend the time" so that we could wait for the members to finish shopping.

Despite our best efforts, we still managed to overstay our parking time and received a ticket. We'll have to deal with it later, but for now, we'll keep the ticket as a souvenir. This is our first parking ticket after countless road trips in various countries. Our memories of Lucerne will undoubtedly be unique and extend beyond the "wooden bridge."

A small piece of paper called a 'ticket' had a slight impact on the journey from Lucerne to the next destination. Yes, just a little bit, because it was only a matter of anxiety before leaving Lucerne about how to deal with it without any experience. But once the car left the city limits and encountered unfamiliar scenery, thick fog, and tall trees, excitement and exhilaration returned. Happiness and refreshment returned as usual, and the ticket was kept as if the incident had never happened.

The rumbling of our stomachs perfectly coincided with the discovery of a charming rest stop. Without hesitation, we parked and refueled with a delicious lunch, each costing less than a hundred baht. Surrounded by a breathtaking landscape worth billions, we savored every bite, unwilling to share even a morsel. Each of us reveled in the simple pleasure of the moment, lost in our own culinary bliss.

Our next destination today is Interlaken, and the route from Lucerne to Interlaken is another scenic one, winding its way through the mountains, offering glimpses of mist rolling over the peaks. This feeling of being embraced by nature is truly special.

Interlaken is divided into three parts: Interlaken Ost, Interlaken West, and Unterseen. Our Airbnb accommodation was located in Unterseen, slightly outside the city center, to avoid the hustle and bustle. Interlaken's charm lies in its two lakes, Lake Brienz (Brienzersee) and Lake Thun (Thunersee), which flank the city, hence the name Interlaken.

Our Airbnb accommodation, booked for 3 nights from now, is located on the 2nd floor.

The city's beauty is not only limited to its urban landscape, but also extends to the breathtaking backdrop of the Jungfraujoch mountain peak, adding to its charm and allure. Interlaken is a popular destination for tourists, especially those with a passion for adventure and conquering new heights. In addition to the "Top of Europe," Jungfraujoch, the city also boasts the Eiger and Monch mountains, offering mountaineers the opportunity to immerse themselves in the wonders of nature.

Upon arrival, the caretaker who was supposed to deliver the room key informed us of a slight delay. To make the most of our time, we decided to head into town and purchase ingredients for today's and tomorrow's meals. This would allow our chef to showcase their culinary skills without any interruptions. With all the necessary groceries in hand, we felt free to explore the city before officially checking into our accommodation. After all, we had arrived early in the day.

We didn't come here to conquer anything, except for our own hearts. We came to arrive, to bring our hearts to touch, because we are captivated by the charm of this small town, we are in love with the fresh green water. Just standing still while everything around us moves, we can see the vitality that is happening. Even though the sky was cloudy when we arrived, it still made Interlaken today have a hidden beauty, a charm that each of us must discover. It's not just a glimpse that we will see.

And then we arrived at our accommodation, it was finally time to relax. Our accommodation was on the second floor, with two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a kitchenette. It was quite comfortable, and we would be staying here for three nights.

It's time to rest. Where shall we go tomorrow? Let's sleep and recharge for tomorrow's journey. Stay tuned to follow our adventures!
