Every journey we embark on, we always set our hopes on happiness. This time was no different. And it truly was a happy experience. I traveled across land and sea from the northeastern region of Thailand to the south. Would you believe that I was so excited about this trip because it would be a community-based tourism experience? It may sound ordinary, but what I want to say is that it was exciting because I got to experience the community-based tourism of people from a different region. Let me tell you, everything was simply captivating. Whether it was the nature, the culture, or even the way people dressed, everything about the Takhmod community in Phatthalung province was simply enchanting.
**'Tambon Tamot,' a small town in Tamot District, Phatthalung Province, is a significant historical site in terms of tradition and culture, reflecting the way of life of the people there.**
The Ban Ta Khmod community is located on the eastern slopes of the Banthad Mountain Range. The terrain is characterized by rolling hills and fertile plains, with numerous rivers and streams originating from the mountains. In addition to being a popular tourist destination, Ban Ta Khmod is also a unique confluence of two religions.
Our journey began in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, where we made an unexpected detour due to a booking error. After a long drive, we arrived at the community and contacted the staff at 0872988588 to arrange our visit. We were warmly welcomed and given a brief overview of the area.
A Glimpse into Sustainable Living: A Visit to Suan Tanung
Our journey began at Suan Tanung, a self-sufficient farm that welcomes visitors to experience a unique blend of tourism and sustainable living. This haven offers a plethora of activities, from engaging in traditional farming practices to savoring freshly-picked vegetables. However, the highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the exhilarating horseback ride through the picturesque orchard.
He rode with fear, not fear of anything in particular, but fear that the horse would break its back. After all, look at my friend's physique, he's so fat.
Don't miss this place! The owner is very kind.
Having only visited one place, I'm already hungry. Let's go! Don't let hunger get the best of us. Let's head to Mai Neua On, a restaurant decorated with local-style wood, beautifully blended. Importantly, this restaurant is owned by an artist, Job Sabai Heart, the creator of the song "Sasaeng."
The sentence is already in English and does not require translation.
Hungry? Let's dig in! Southern Thai food is amazing, but I almost died because I can't handle spicy food. Oh, and I forgot to mention that one of the best things about this place is the abundance of fresh fruit available.
After lunch, we continued our trip. There were many groups of tourists, but we were able to choose our own itinerary. So, I went on another trip, which was to see the waterfall behind the dam.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a breathtaking view. The mist and rain were cascading down the mountain peaks, creating a truly awe-inspiring spectacle.
We then took a boat to the end of the dam. This is our small guide, who is very experienced in hiking.
The view is stunning.
This trip was a blend of nature exploration and experiencing local life. Behind the dam, we witnessed a different side of the community's lifestyle. People were fishing and foraging for food in the forest, while children played in the water, waiting for their parents. We greeted a young man and exchanged pleasantries with a local resident.
The waterfall here is not a typical waterfall, but rather a stream-like feature. It requires a hike to reach, and due to my lack of preparation, I ended up walking barefoot through the forest.
The white rocks and clear water are simple and beautiful in their own way.
The weather was harsh during our trip, with both sunshine and rain.
There, we can clearly see the way of life. This is a grandmother who is picking up fallen leaves to sell. Personally, I really like this picture.
This is the appearance of the "luk pa" fruit. Its taste is similar to that of a chestnut. People there sell it for 300 baht per kilogram.
We continued our hike, clad only in shorts and barefoot. The leeches greeted us enthusiastically.
After a short walk, we arrived at the highlight of Wang Chang Waterfall. Wow, it was incredibly peaceful and serene, perfect for relaxing and soaking in the atmosphere. We sat there for a long time, not because we were tired from the walk (just kidding!), but because we wanted to savor the moment.
After that, we walked back to the waiting area for the boat. This is the way of life for the people there: sitting together in groups, chatting and asking about each other's well-being. Brother Koon told us that on full moon days, the villagers have an overnight party here.
We continued our journey by boat, not to return, but to a place I've dubbed "Emerald Green Takmoh." It was breathtakingly beautiful.
Green meadows and mountains, wow, they go together so well.
This is the unadulterated beauty of nature. Why are you staring at me? We can go if you want. Haha.
Judging from your appearance, you must be exhausted. Don't worry, we're not heading back to the accommodation just yet. We'll continue our journey to Khuan Takham, a viewpoint for sunsets and mist in the Tamo community.
From above, we can see a beautiful view of the community.
Go back before you get lost, haha.
Returning to the table, we were greeted by a feast waiting for us. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. After a quick shower, we visited the home of our Buddhist friend, Kun Son, where we engaged in stimulating conversation until late into the night before returning to our lodgings.
Another morning, another wake-up call from the owner to go whitewater rafting, about 3 times haha. Okay, the dream rafting was so much fun haha. And here's the picture that Thanin sent me, it's exactly the same as my dream. What do you think? You were acting tough during the day.
This is the bedroom of the house we stayed in. It was spacious and airy, making for a very comfortable sleep.
Bidding farewell, we were met with warm words from our hosts: "Come back and visit us again. We miss you." These simple words filled us with a sense of warmth. We expressed our sincere gratitude for their hospitality and promised to return if the opportunity arose.
Jerida Homestay 0898694383
The homestay service here costs only 900 baht.
We then headed to the airport, but on the way we had to stop and visit something amazing in Phatthalung. It was the Ekachai Bridge, the longest bridge in Thailand, and a popular view with the small twin houses.
The vibrant colors and stunning views were truly captivating. This popular tourist spot offers a glimpse into the lives of aquatic animals, birds, and water buffalo. We, too, were drawn to the breathtaking scenery.
Hello, little bird. It was so tiring to get this picture.
Here it is, the water buffalo, another highlight of Phatthalung.
No, I'm not going back. I'm going here. We got lost on our way to Khlong Pak Pa. Haha, they say it's not worth the trip, but it's really beautiful. I saw it on TV when I was a kid, and today I finally got to see it with my own eyes. The only difference is that we didn't come at the same time as the locals. You have to come here early in the morning or in the evening. The view is amazing.
That's right, it's really beautiful. Let's go back or we'll miss our flight. Who did you tell? Oh, I told you, haha. I'm leaving now, see you in Phatthalung.
Thank you to all the participants of this trip. Thank you to the people of Takh Mo for your warm welcome. I would like everyone to come and visit this place. It's hard to believe that there are such beautiful hidden natural wonders. Come and support community-based tourism. You will definitely fall in love with it.
