Tham Kra Sae Railway Station
Our morning destination is conveniently located near our accommodation, at the Krasae Cave. We can reach it by walking along the railway tracks, taking the morning train (the only one available), or driving by car, ignoring the infamous Death Railway built by the Japanese.

However, since we were already there and accompanied by a general, it couldn't be ordinary. So, the general invited us to ride a tram. At first, I couldn't remember what a tram looked like, and my mind wandered to the trams that circled Rattanakosin Island. But when I saw it, I exclaimed, "Ah!" It was the kind of tram used for repairing railway tracks.
The Death Railway
The Death Railway, also known as the Thailand-Burma Railway, was a 415-kilometer (258-mile) railway line built by Allied prisoners of war and Asian laborers during World War II. The railway was constructed to connect Thailand and Burma (now Myanmar), and it was used to transport supplies to the Japanese army.
The construction of the Death Railway was a brutal and deadly undertaking. The prisoners of war and laborers were subjected to harsh conditions, including forced labor, starvation, and disease. An estimated 100,000 people died during the construction of the railway.
The Death Railway is a reminder of the horrors of war and the importance of human rights. It is also a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.

The tram can accommodate approximately 10 passengers at a time. We saw the general get on board, so we quickly followed suit. In any case, traveling with the general would provide peace of mind. The tram slowly crept along the tracks, giving us a thrill because it was high and hugged the mountainside. The car was full of passengers, and it looked like it would be difficult to drive.

Finally, we arrived at Tham Krasae Station. This side has a variety of goods for sale and is also a tourist attraction that must be visited when coming to Sai Yok.
