While running errands in Chanthaburi, we were caught in the rain and became hungry. Checking the route, we realized we would pass by the Chaolao Toasaeng Beach Hotel. Seizing the opportunity, we decided to stop for a delightful meal.
The reason for stopping by the Sea Thru Restaurant at Chaolao Toa Sang Beach is because I have eaten there before and found the food to be delicious and affordable. Today, I am craving the Pla Sang Chan salad. Additionally, it is raining today, making me feel wet and sticky. I also want to stop by and say hello to the manager who I met on my previous visit and had a pleasant conversation with. Finally, I would like to take a leisurely stroll on the Chaolao Beach within the hotel grounds.
The beach at Chao Lao is experiencing strong winds, rough waters, and continuous light rain. The large waves have attracted surfers to the area.
Sea Thru Restaurant, Chaolao Tosang Beach Resort
The front-row table by the sea, which is unavailable today due to the rain.
It's better to be on the inside.
As we arrived around 2:30 PM, the restaurant was still empty. Fortunately, we had called ahead to order our food.
The first dish, Yum Pla Saeng Jan, has finally arrived. I'm so excited to try it!
White, flaky fish flesh is scraped and mixed with a flavorful relish. The dish is served with a peanut dipping sauce, offering a tangy and sweet flavor profile. The crunch of roasted peanuts adds textural contrast, while the various fresh herbs and spices provide a refreshing counterpoint to the subtle heat of dried chili flakes. The fish can be enjoyed directly, as it has been fried to a crispy and aromatic perfection.
The next dish is the fresh shrimp salad with "Chan" noodles. I love the "Chan" noodles here the most. They are chewy, soft, and soaked in the perfectly seasoned dressing. The sweetness of the fresh shrimp and squid is evident. This dish retains its freshness with a balanced sour and salty taste. However, if you prefer a more sour taste, there are lemon wedges placed alongside. And don't forget the "Thua Kut" (sweetened roasted peanuts), which are placed alongside to add sweetness as desired.
Good-looking and delicious
Next is the local dish, Gaeng Moo Chamuang. Large pieces of pork are cooked in a curry with Chamuang leaves, a local herb in Chanthaburi. Many places make Gaeng Moo Chamuang with a sweet and savory flavor, but here it has a slightly sour and astringent taste, following the flavor of the Chamuang leaves. A hint of sweetness lingers at the end, making it easy to eat.
The vibrant colors of this pork curry are deceiving. At first glance, it appears spicy and intense, but upon tasting, it is surprisingly delicious. (Despite its unassuming appearance.)
Stir-fried Sea Bass with Wild Ginger Shoots
This dish is not only delicious with the spicy stir-fried curry paste, but also features fresh sea bass with a hint of sweetness, and crispy, creamy, and fragrant cardamom to add another layer of flavor and a delightful chewing experience.
This unique dish, aptly named "Salted Egg Sausage," is sure to tantalize your taste buds.
The restaurant serves minced pork seasoned like sausage, wrapped around the yolk of a salted egg, and then wrapped in beancurd skin and deep-fried until cooked through. It is served with a sweet and sour dipping sauce and is a delightful snack, perfect as an accompaniment to drinks.
This meal
Three people ate together. I told them not to order food when they were hungry, but of course, there was nothing left. It was delicious, haha.
I invited my manager to have dinner with me, but she declined and just sat with me to chat. She mentioned that even during the monsoon season, her rooms are always fully booked. I was tempted to stay another night because I was too lazy to drive, but I was actually already full and sleepy. 5555
We discussed tourism, including past and upcoming events. Before leaving, she kindly offered a coupon for a room at Chaolao Toesang Beach Resort for a game on the page. I'm sharing it here in case any friends are interested. If you want a room with no strings attached, join the game on my page, "Eat, Travel, Turn Around." Let's play together! Don't let her feel lonely. Hehe.
