Lobby of Compass Sky View Hotel
As we all know, August is the month of "Mother" in Thailand. This is often used as a reason to indulge our mothers, and it is a time to show our appreciation for them. Even though it is just an ordinary day, we can make it a special occasion.

Prime+Prime Restaurant on the 7th floor of Compass Sky View Hotel
For instance, today, which doesn't have to be August 12th, we brought our mother to have lunch at the Prime+Prime restaurant on the 7th floor of the Compass Sky View Hotel on Sukhumvit 24. We originally intended to have the buffet, but the receptionist informed us that the Saturday Brunch Buffet is only available on Saturdays during lunchtime. Currently, it's a Steak House. No matter, we brought enough money to treat our mother today. We all love steak anyway, so a steak house is perfect.

After agreeing to use the service, the receptionist checked the available tables and open service areas, and assigned us a suitable table. We were given a round table.

Whose plate is this? I zoomed in secretly.
We arrived quite early in the day, as we intended to have a buffet meal. As a result, there were not many customers in the restaurant, which was fortunate. We were able to take our time taking photos while we waited for our food.
Table arrangement and decoration
The mother and her grandchild sat at the table waiting for their food, while a light rain was falling.
Other customers have started to arrive, so it's time to sit at my own table.
This luxurious corner invites you to relax. The classic-colored, upholstered seats offer a comfortable and sophisticated experience.
The Appetizer: Bread, Garlic Mousse, and Chimichurri Sauce
The first course served was toasted bread accompanied by garlic mousse and chimichurri sauce. This sauce, originating in Argentina and Uruguay, is typically paired with grilled or roasted meats. Beyond its use as a condiment, chimichurri can also be employed as a marinade to enhance the flavor of meat.
The bread is white, soft, and slightly crispy on the crust. When eaten with garlic mousse, it tastes similar to garlic bread. Drizzled with chimichurri sauce, it offers the aroma of herbs and a salty, savory flavor.
Lobster Bisque
The first dish to arrive was the "Lobster Bisque." It was lobster season, but today I only wanted soup. The soup was served in a deep, thick-bottomed bowl. The bright orange color of the soup contrasted beautifully with the white cream that adorned it. The soup was smooth and rich, with a sweet and savory aroma. It contained shredded lobster meat, which had a chewy and smooth texture, making it a perfect appetizer to stimulate the appetite and warm the stomach.
We dipped the bread into various sauces, mousses, and soups, which was both delicious and enjoyable.
Caprese Salad (Caprese Salad)
Tomato Salad
The Next Course: Caprese Salad
The next course is a Caprese Salad, a simple and healthy dish featuring tomatoes and cheese. This elegant and health-conscious appetizer offers a delightful combination of flavors and textures. The sweetness of the peeled tomatoes, the freshness of the mozzarella cheese, and the tangy balsamic vinegar create a harmonious symphony of taste, further enhanced by the richness of olive oil. While the addition of Parma ham would elevate this dish to new heights, its absence does not detract from its overall appeal. A sprinkle of salt balances the flavors, ensuring that every bite is a perfect blend of deliciousness and healthfulness.
Spaghetti Olio or Spaghetti with Olive Oil
The next dish was Spaghetti Olio, starting with perfectly cooked al dente spaghetti, tossed in olive oil, seasoned with oregano, and garnished with sliced red chili pepper and a sprig of parsley. This simple yet flavorful dish was a welcome departure from the usual Spaghetti Carbonara.
Long, chewy, and soft noodles, a delightful treat.
Australian Lamb Rack
This dish was ordered by my mother, but in reality, we ordered different menus and shared them so that we could try a variety of dishes. The Australian lamb rack was ordered by my mother as well-done. Personally, I think it was a bit too well-done (I prefer medium-rare). It made the meat a bit tough, but it was helped a lot by the chimichurri sauce that was served with it.
Kimichi sauce truly enhances the distinct, sweet flavor of the lamb. The herbs in the sauce further elevate the lamb's taste, making it irresistible. We couldn't resist gnawing on the ribs (thankfully, we chose a relatively secluded spot).
The Australian lamb rack is served with grilled vegetables on a hot stone plate, complete with a warming flame underneath. The grilled vegetables are equally delicious, especially when dipped in the chimichurri sauce, offering a delightful combination of aroma and flavor.
US Steak Rib Eye
This dish, our very own USA Steak Rib Eye, is a true delight. Cooked to a perfect medium-rare, the steak boasts tender, succulent meat that practically melts in your mouth. The rich flavor is further enhanced by a black pepper wine sauce, while the accompanying grilled tomatoes and asparagus provide a refreshing counterpoint to the richness of the steak.
A Comparison of Two Culinary Delights: USA Steak Rib Eye and Australian Lamb Rack
This image presents a side-by-side comparison of two delectable dishes: a USA Steak Rib Eye with black peppercorn sauce (left) and an Australian Lamb Rack with chimichurri sauce (right).
USA Steak Rib Eye:
- Cut: Rib Eye, known for its rich marbling and intense flavor.
- Origin: USA, renowned for its high-quality beef production.
- Sauce: Black peppercorn sauce, a classic accompaniment that enhances the steak's savory notes with a touch of spice.
Australian Lamb Rack:
- Cut: Lamb Rack, featuring tender and succulent meat with a slightly gamey flavor.
- Origin: Australia, recognized for its premium lamb exports.
- Sauce: Chimichurri sauce, a vibrant herb-based condiment that adds a refreshing and zesty counterpoint to the lamb's richness.
Visual Comparison:
The image showcases the distinct appearances of the two dishes. The steak boasts a deep red color with prominent marbling, while the lamb rack displays a lighter pink hue with visible bones. The contrasting sauces further accentuate the visual appeal, with the black peppercorn sauce offering a dark, rich appearance and the chimichurri sauce presenting a vibrant green color.
Flavor Profile:
The USA Steak Rib Eye delivers a robust and savory flavor profile, enhanced by the black peppercorn sauce's piquant notes. The Australian Lamb Rack, on the other hand, offers a more delicate and nuanced taste with a hint of gaminess, complemented by the chimichurri sauce's fresh and herbaceous flavors.
Overall Impression:
This image provides a tantalizing glimpse into the culinary world, showcasing two distinct yet equally appealing dishes. The USA Steak Rib Eye with black peppercorn sauce caters to those who appreciate bold and intense flavors, while the Australian Lamb Rack with chimichurri sauce offers a more refined and balanced taste experience. Ultimately, the choice between these two culinary delights depends on individual preferences and culinary inclinations.

Grilled Salmon with Lemon Sauce
This dish features grilled salmon drizzled with a zesty lemon sauce.
Grilled Salmon with Lemon Sauce. This dish was ordered by my niece. At first, I didn't want her to order it because I don't like to eat fish (I wanted to eat her food too). But when she ordered it and let me try it, wow, it was delicious! The salmon was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The flesh was moist and sweet, not fishy at all. With the lemon sauce, the crispy skin, and the buttered asparagus, it was so delicious. My niece told me to relax and squeeze the lemon that the restaurant provided first. Oh, and she didn't tell me.
The savory dishes were a success, but in the spirit of Mother's Day, I indulged my mother's wishes and encouraged her to order dessert as well. With her usual indulgence of her grandchildren, she ended up getting two desserts that my niece and nephew wanted.
Chocolate Lava and Cheesecake
Cheese Cake
Desserts should be sweet, right? But this dish is not just sweet, it's sweet, creamy, and smooth on the tongue. The fresh orange zest that adorns the plate or the raspberry jam adds a touch of acidity, creating a perfect balance of sweet, sour, creamy, and refreshing flavors.
Chocolate Lava
Note: This translation is concise and simple, as requested.
The Chocolate Lava is served with vanilla ice cream, creating a sweet and smooth flavor that helps to balance the bittersweetness of the chocolate. The ice cream provides a cool sensation in the mouth, while the chocolate lava offers a rich and intense chocolate flavor. The sliced strawberries on the plate add a refreshing touch, further enhancing the overall taste experience.
Elegant Plate Presentation
This dinner was well-received by my mother. She even suggested that we come back again in the future, even if it's not for the buffet. She mentioned that we could just have steak instead. However, she did jokingly ask about the state of my finances. Regardless, special occasions can happen any day. We can wait until the end of the month and then go again. From what I've gathered, the Steak House at Prime+Prime restaurant is open every day from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM. So, there's no need to worry about missing out, Mom.
