The cave tour seemed very ordinary to me. However, this time, it was an ice cave, which I had never experienced before. It was quite exciting. My journey began at Kawaguchiko Station.
With the 3-day Fuji-Hakone Pass, you can use all five bus routes around Mount Fuji within the lake area. If you arrive at Kawaguchiko Station, you can purchase a bus pass for travel within the five lakes area at the information desk.
Take the Green Line train to Saiko Lake.
From Kawaguchiko Station on the Fujikyuko Kawaguchiko Line, take the Fujikyu Yamanashi "Saiko/Aokigahara Area Tour Retro" bus for 1 hour and get off at the Fugaku Fuketsu bus stop.
Upon arrival, we ventured into the forest for a short distance, approximately 5 minutes.
We have arrived at the ticket booth.
A single cave ticket costs 350 yen, while a two-cave ticket costs 600 yen, saving you 100 yen.
The child ticket will cost 200 yen.
Ticket received.
The Fungaku Cave is easier to access than the Narusawa Cave. However, both caves are ice caves, which are suitable for me.
The exhibits are accompanied by explanatory signs in both English and Japanese.
We have arrived at the entrance.
Please wear a helmet before descending. This is for your own safety.
The entrance to the cave is already quite chilly.
Fugaku Wind Cave (富岳風穴 / Fugaku Fūketsu)
The cave is surrounded by nature and the Aokigahara forest. Inside the cave, the average temperature is 3 degrees Celsius, and it is cold even in summer, like being in a refrigerator. It has been designated as a natural monument of Japan. Why don't you visit here in the summer? It takes 15 minutes to visit. You will see ice pillars that never melt in midsummer and large lava rocks. Natural ice can be seen from winter to early autumn of the following year, but it cannot be seen all year round depending on the weather. If the weather changes, you should check in advance.
Recommendations
Wear non-slip shoes when walking inside the cave. Due to the temperature difference of more than 20 degrees between inside and outside, patients with heart disease and the elderly are not recommended to enter the cave.
It's incredibly cold here.
I'll be back in a moment. I can tolerate the cold for a while.
We explored the entire cave in approximately 20 minutes.

After returning to the ticket booth, follow the nature trail to Narusawa Cave (also known as the Ice Cave). Alternatively, you can walk to the main road and then backtrack for approximately 30 minutes. I opted for the nature trail.
Strolling through the scenery of trees and leaves, the weather is pleasant and not too hot.
Follow the path for about 30 minutes.
We strolled along, taking photos, and arrived in no time.
You can use the ticket you purchased from Tham Lom.
There is a sign explaining the formation of ice.
A warning sign states that it will definitely be cold, with temperatures reaching 0 degrees Celsius.
Narusawa Ice Cave: A Frozen Journey Through Time
The Narusawa Ice Cave, known in Japanese as 鳴沢氷穴, is a captivating natural wonder adorned with glistening ice formations and intricate stalactites and stalagmites. The cave's enchanting beauty is further enhanced by the artful illumination that highlights its icy sculptures.
Beyond its aesthetic allure, the Narusawa Ice Cave whispers tales of the past. Archaeological discoveries within the cave reveal traces of human habitation, offering a glimpse into the lives of those who once sought shelter within its depths. These remnants, frozen in time, provide valuable insights into the region's history and the resourceful ways in which its inhabitants harnessed the power of nature.
The Narusawa Hyoketsu Ice Cave: A Natural Monument of Japan
The Narusawa Hyoketsu Ice Cave, a natural monument of Japan, is a dome-shaped cave formed by lava from an eruption of Mount Fuji around 1150.
The cave maintains a frigid temperature year-round, averaging around 3 degrees Celsius. Even standing near the entrance, one can feel the icy air enveloping the body. Visitors are advised to wear warm clothing, as even a short-sleeved shirt will leave them shivering.
The younger sister had prepared warm clothes well.

After that, I walked back to the ticket booth and then walked straight out to the main road.
Follow the signs back to the Wind Cave. I plan to visit the Iya Shinano Sato village next.
Passengers wishing to return to Kawaguchiko Station can board the Retro Bus Kawaguchiko/Saiko at the bus stop near the entrance to the ice cave.
