Not long after leaving the Kiw Seua Ten area, we arrived at the path leading to "Pha Chor", which is also located in Mae Wang National Park. Pha Chor is a cliff with steep lateritic soil, which is remarkably shaped by nature, just like Kiw Seua Ten and Khwang Sao Hin, but with more beauty and intricacy.

The formation of a cliff is a geological process that involves four distinct stages.

Step 1: Formation of the Doi Lo Fault

The Doi Lo Fault is a geological feature located in the western region of Doi Lo District, Thailand. It is believed to have formed approximately 30 million years ago due to the subsidence of the surrounding lowlands. This subsidence resulted in the accumulation of waterborne sediments, further contributing to the formation of the fault.

Stage 2: Sediment Accumulation

Following the subsidence event, approximately 3 million years of sediment accumulation occurred within the basin. This accumulation involved gravel, sand, silt, and clay transported by the Ping River and its tributaries.

Step 3

This step involved a slow uplift approximately 1-2 million years ago, causing the Ping River to erode the deposited layers of gravel, sand, silt, and clay. This erosion resulted in the formation of a series of fluvial terraces, demonstrating size sorting and the intercalation of five main layers of gravel, sand, and silt.

The final stage involved wind and rain erosion of the water gap, which eroded vertically, creating the steep cliffs known as Pha Chor that we see today.

After strolling and taking photos for a considerable amount of time, it was time to reluctantly head back. They needed to return the car in Jom Thong, and they were already running late. They suspected they might face a penalty for exceeding the rental period.

Back up.

The nature trail of Pha Cho starts from Station 1 and leads to Station 3. It then forms a loop and returns to the junction with Station 3. We then walked back to the viewpoint on the top, where we had parked our car.

After that, I drove back to Chom Thong to return the motorbike at Joe Bike rental shop. I was more than 2 hours late, but Joe accepted the bike without any additional charges. I would like to express my gratitude to Joe for his understanding. I then boarded a public bus (yellow songthaew) in front of the 7-Eleven next to Joe's shop. The bus traveled a long distance and charged me 34 baht. It stopped at Kad Luang, where I tried to hail a red taxi to take me to the Arcade. The taxi driver quoted a shocking price of hundreds of baht.

Parking from Chom Thong

Never mind, we were in no hurry, so we stood waiting for the Chiang Mai public bus (white bus) for 15 baht. It took us to Akat Market, where we waited for the bus back to Bangkok. And so, the trip "Solo Travel .... Doi Inthanon This Rainy Season" came to a beautiful end, just as expected.

Thank you all for watching.
