The first review is of the Red Lotus Floating Market in Bang Len, Nakhon Pathom Province, a location not far from Bangkok. It is easily accessible by private car. It is recommended to visit on weekdays, not long holidays or Saturdays and Sundays, as there will be less traffic and fewer people. Parking is easy, and you can take beautiful photos without many people around. You will have time to admire the lotus flowers to your heart's content.
We followed Google Maps and drove to the Thung Bua Daeng Floating Market. It took a few hours from Bangkok. We arrived at the market early in the morning, around 10:00 AM, when there were not many people. We were among the first customers, so we didn't have to wait in line. We boarded the boat right away.
The boat rental fee is 100 baht per boat. Drone photography costs 40 baht per photo. Hat rentals are also inexpensive at 5 baht per hat. Beautiful umbrellas are only 10 baht each (prices are very reasonable).
The Tung Bua Daeng Floating Market covers an area of 44 rai, with 24 rai dedicated to lotus ponds. Two lotus varieties are cultivated: the original red lotus, which blooms in the morning, and the Ma-Miew red lotus, which blooms throughout the day, allowing visitors to enjoy the lotus blossoms all day long.
Once you're on board, the boatman will take you to see the lotus flowers in the middle of the field, explaining the different species of lotus found there. They will also show you the various beautiful sights in the field, take you to see how the lotus flowers are grown, and give you a garland to wear. They will also take you to see the birds' eggs in their natural habitat and arrange for you to have beautiful drone photos taken as a souvenir. You can choose the photos you like with the drone operator. I really liked this part and got some great pictures. It was the best part of the trip.
After taking photos to our satisfaction, we were taken back to shore by our guide. We had lunch at a local recommended restaurant, Red Lotus Café. We ordered their signature dish, lotus petal wraps, and also some deep-fried lotus petals. The taste was unique and delicious, a must-try for anyone visiting the area.
