Doi Luang Tak

11 kilometers at an altitude of 1,175 meters

Doi Luang Tak is a 11-kilometer nature trail located in the Huai Mae Sai Waterfall Forest Park, Ban Tak District, Tak Province.

Following prior communication with park officials and porters, the journey commenced at Thung Krachoe Municipality. From there, transportation was secured to the starting point of the nature trail at Huai Mae Sai Waterfall Forest Park.

The initial section of the trail is relatively flat and easy to navigate, allowing for a comfortable pace. The presence of a waterfall and large trees provides a refreshing atmosphere.

The ascent takes approximately 5-6 hours.

Stroll and relax, taking in the atmosphere of the trees along the way. Most importantly, the air is incredibly fresh.

Halfway through the walk, we will encounter a pine grove, where rows of pine trees stand tall.

After walking for a while, you will reach a viewpoint where you can see Doi Luang Tak up close, letting you know that you are almost there.

A scenic viewpoint for stunning photos.

After passing the viewpoint, you will enter the banana forest, which is very humid. The scariest thing at this point is the leech, but I didn't see any.

After a long trek, we finally reached the campsite, which took us a total of 6 hours.

After setting up camp and taking a short break, we walked to the viewpoint. The view was breathtaking, and the surrounding atmosphere was perfect. It was well worth the six-hour hike. (I'll save the photos of the viewpoint for later, but trust me, it was truly stunning.)

After the Doi Luang viewpoint, you can continue walking. The surrounding views are just as beautiful. Walk from the viewpoint to see the lone pine tree.

We have reached the solitary pine tree. It truly is solitary, as it is the only one here.

And then, we waited to watch the sunset. If you come as a couple, it's super romantic.

The sun has set.

As the sun sets, campers make their way back to their campsites. It's time for dinner, and those who have already arrived gather around campfires, cooking and socializing. This communal atmosphere truly captures the essence of camping.

After dinner, we returned to rest and stargaze in a relaxed atmosphere. After a while, we prepared for bed. The weather at night was unpredictable, with both rain and strong winds. We were still wondering what the morning would bring.

The morning fog is very thick, but even though the fog is thick, we will go to the top of Doi Luang.

We ascended Doi Luang Tak once more to witness the sunrise. We anxiously awaited the fog to dissipate, allowing us to capture the breathtaking vista. As we strolled and took photographs, the fog gradually thinned, revealing a magnificent panorama that surpassed our expectations.

The main expenses on this trip were

Staff and porter fees: 1200 + 1200

Taxi fare 1200

Tent fee 200*5 (Tents are not available for rent, you must bring your own).

This trip, we contacted Mr. Noppadol, the park chief, at 083-0126713.

If you enjoy nature, fresh air, and the sounds of the forest, and want to meet new people, Doi Luang Tak is the perfect place for you.
