The residence of Professor Silpa Bhirasri, a prominent figure in the Thai art scene, is known as Baan Ajarn Farang. Professor Silpa, a renowned art instructor, laid the groundwork for modern Thai art. He created significant national sculptures and is regarded as the father of contemporary Thai art. Additionally, he established Silpakorn University, an institution we hold in high regard and admiration.
Professor Silpa Bhirasri, originally named Corrado Feroci, was born in Florence, Italy, on September 15, 1892. After Prince Narisara Nuwattiwong invited Professor Silpa to Thailand for the first time during the reign of King Rama VI, the Thai government rented a house for him to live in from 1923.
The Legacy of Silpa Bhirasri: From "Foreign Teacher's House" to a Renowned Art Museum
The building known as the "Foreign Teacher's House" was originally a residence for foreign instructors before being renamed "Silpa Bhirasri" in honor of the renowned Thai artist. The second floor houses a permanent exhibition showcasing Silpa Bhirasri's masterpieces alongside rotating exhibitions featuring diverse artistic expressions.
This Saturday, November 3rd, will feature the "High Prototype" World Watercolor Art Exhibition in Bangkok 2018, as scheduled below.
4:00 PM: Guests and media arrive, register, and enjoy refreshments.
16:10 PM. Khunying Pattama Leesawatdikul, Chairwoman of Anoma Grand Hotel Bangkok, arrived at the house of the foreign professor who is a member of the exhibition organizing committee. The professor welcomed Khunying Pattama and led her to the second floor of the house, where the exhibition was being held. Refreshments and drinks from the Craftsman shop were served.
16:30 - Opening Ceremony
The ceremony begins with the host welcoming the distinguished guests, including the event's chairperson, media representatives, and the management team of Baan Ajarn Farang.
Following the welcome, Ms. Chatchanok Dulyaratn is invited to speak about the history of Baan Ajarn Farang.
Next, Mr. Niwat Mahabun, President of the Silapa Sri Group, expresses gratitude to Ms. Ploy Amornbhak Thongsapak from Bay Beach Resort Samui and explains the motivation behind the exhibition.
The moderator invited Ms. Ploy Amornpak Thongsapak, a representative from Bay Beach Resort Samui, to introduce the hotel and her impressions of watercolor art. The moderator then invited the chairman to open the exhibition.
Mr. Niwat Mahaboon presented souvenirs to the chairman and sponsors of the exhibition. The chairman, executives, and sponsors then proceeded to the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, which marked the opening of the exhibition in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
- The host invites the chairman, the director of the Western Teachers' House, the chairman of the Silpa Sri Art Group, representatives of the artist group, and sponsors to take a group photo.
- The President was shown an exhibition of international artists and representatives from Thailand who submitted 30 images for display.
