Although visiting Kanchanaburi without seeing the Bridge over the River Kwai is like not having been there at all, we decided to brave the crowds and take a quick tour. The place was packed, as expected for such a landmark in Kanchanaburi. We managed to snap a few photos and enjoy a refreshing coconut shake before moving on.
The Floatel - Buntern is a floating hotel located on the Vajiralongkorn Dam. To reach the hotel, you must travel to Thong Pha Phum, which is 140 km from Kanchanaburi city. Today, everyone met at the stylish "Farm to Cafe", which is conveniently located on the way to Thong Pha Phum. The cafe is easy to find as it is located on the main road. The cafe is beautifully decorated and spacious, with many photogenic corners. The menu offers a variety of drinks, as well as food and bakery items.
The journey from the city center to Thong Pha Phum District takes less than 2 hours. The raft is located 10 km beyond Thong Pha Phum Market. There will be a sign for "Tha Pa Soi 4" on the right-hand side. You can drive down and park your car there. Check-in time and raft departure is at 2:30 PM.
The Floatel can accommodate up to 16 people, but today our gang has 14. Two people are missing due to urgent tasks. It's a pity! The bedrooms and bathrooms are clean, and the beds are comfortable, just like in a hotel. I was very impressed with this aspect.

We stayed here for 2 days and 1 night. The raft took about 45 minutes to get us to the middle of the Vajiralongkorn Dam. If you stay for 3 days and 2 nights, the raft will take you all the way to Sangkhla Buri. You can visit the Mon Bridge and the submerged church. This area is very peaceful and private, as it only accommodates our raft. You can enjoy the silence and use your voice freely without disturbing anyone. There will be staff members on standby throughout your stay. Cell phone signal and internet are available, so no worries.
Activities are available to suit all preferences. Feel free to relax and enjoy the scenic views, or strum a guitar for your own enjoyment.
A cool breeze blows gently, sipping a cold drink, feeling sleepy and yawning, it's time to rest.
There are 4 kayaks available, so no need to fight over them. Paddle in the middle of the dam and watch the sunset. It's very relaxing.
