. At "Mae Hong Son"

The city of mist and mountains

The area is mostly mountainous, with fresh air all year round.

.

We opted for a 4-day, 3-night trip, which we believe should be sufficient to cover all the must-see attractions.

We did not plan much.

After reviewing numerous recommendations, I have compiled a list of must-visit locations:

  1. Enjoy coffee and noodles with stunning views at Ja Bo Restaurant.
  2. Camp at Ban Ja Bo Campsite.
  3. Camp by the river and await the morning greeting of swans at Pang Ung.
  4. Visit the iconic Sutong Pae Bridge, a must-see for any Mae Hong Son visitor.
  5. Admire the mist at the Ja Bo Viewpoint.
  6. Explore the Yunnan Chinese architecture at Rak Thai Village.
  7. Stroll and sip at the Mae Hong Son Walking Street.
  8. Relax at the atmospheric Crossroads in the heart of Mae Hong Son.

Departure time: 17:45.

This section focuses on sleeping rather than taking photos, as the scenery is unremarkable, consisting mainly of roads, curves, and more roads.

Who gets drunk easily, recommend sleeping pills

Sleep tight and wake up in the morning.

.

We haven't been sleeping well lately due to knee pain.

It takes 15 hours to get there.

The morning arrival time at the destination was likely around 8:30 AM, but I don't recall the exact time. I apologize for the oversight.

.

Upon arrival at Mae Hong Son Bus Terminal.

You will encounter the motorcycle taxi drivers.

We told him that we would go to a motorbike rental shop, where the rental fee is only 40 baht.

My brother then took me to JD's shop. JD, as his name suggests, was very kind and helpful. He gave us directions and was very friendly.

After that,

A deposit of 1,000 baht was made, along with a motorcycle rental fee of 250 baht per day for 2 days, totaling 500 baht.

The total cost is 1,500 baht, of which 1,000 baht will be refunded to you on the day we return the car.

.

With the luggage secured to the seat, the journey begins.

First day

October 10, 2018, starting at Ban Ja Bo, Pang Ma Pha District

Along the way, we stopped by the wooden bridge of Su Tong Pae and the fish pond.

A brief stop before continuing the journey, fearing the rain.

On the way, almost reaching Sergeant Bo's house.

There will be a rest stop called Doi Kiew Lom Viewpoint.

This photo was taken with a tripod, and I took several selfies with Khun Daeng (the owner of the motorcycle, whom I named myself).

The sun is clearly scorching hot.

The photo appears to have been taken in the afternoon.

After a brief stop to admire the view, they continued their journey.

.

Finally arrived at Sergeant Bo's house.

We chose to pitch our tent at the Baan Ja Tor campsite.

If you bring your own tent, like we did, and it's a rainproof tent,

The owner recommends setting up the tent on an open bamboo platform without a roof. This will provide a clearer and more beautiful view.

.

For those who want to stay in a homestay with local villagers (300 baht per night).

Set up your tent at the Baan Ja Tho camping ground, which is located directly opposite the Baan Ja Bo hanging noodle shop when looking down from above.

The campsite is made of bamboo, with no soil to anchor tent pegs.

To secure the tent, bamboo strips were lifted one by one and tied with straw ropes, as shown in the picture.

It took a while to finish.

Looking up from below, the camping ground at Ban Ja To.

Homestays line the street, each costing 500 baht per night. Guests can cook and eat their meals on the balcony of their accommodation.

November 2

October 11, 2018. Woke up early at Sergeant Bo's house, preparing to continue to Pang Ung.

Woke up with a start at around 6:00 AM. The weather is beautiful.

The mist has arrived, bringing with it the cool air from last night's rain.

The bamboo floor is completely soaked.

The picture above was taken by my seatmate.

The owner of the shop, Khun Maew Namtan, is always there to greet customers.

Noodles for tens, views for millions

.

Continue your journey

to Pang Ung

On the way back, we came across a scenic viewpoint at Doi Kiew Lom.

However, this time the view was impressive. The mist formed into clumps, so beautiful that I couldn't help but take a few pictures.

After passing Pha Sua Waterfall, let's stop by again.

They didn't stay long, fearing the snakes.

.

Upon reaching Pang Ung, we set up our tents.

This is a plan to set up a camera to photograph the Milky Way.

I lugged my tripod all the way from Bangkok.

We managed to snap a few photos before the rain started pouring down. We barely had time to pack everything up and get into the tent.

My mind wanders as I listen to the sound of rain falling again tonight.

October 3, 2018

Hello Pang Ung, it has been raining for two nights in a row. When I woke up this morning, the air was fresh and invigorating.

The morning mist was light and airy.

After capturing a decent amount of scenic shots, we packed up our belongings and prepared to embark on a journey to the renowned Baan Rak Thai.

Beautiful, but I didn't stay here. I stopped by to take photos, admire the tea shop, and breathe in the fresh air. After a short break, I rode my motorbike back to the city.

A car was parked illegally at Pha Sua Waterfall on the way back. The road is quite steep and has many curves.

For those interested in renting a car for travel, if your driving skills are not strong, you must be extra cautious.

Enter the city

The car was filled with fuel before being delivered to JD.

He walked into Boonmee House without any prior reservation.

Upon arriving at the accommodation, we stretched our legs to the fullest, enjoying the cool air conditioning before heading out for an evening stroll through the city.

.

Locals say that anyone visiting Mae Hong Son must come to this restaurant.

Within walking distance of the accommodation.

Delicious, I approve.

The mosquitoes were overwhelming, and even insect repellent couldn't keep them at bay. We quickly finished our meal and fled.

.

Continuing on Walking Street

I strolled around the city, but I didn't go to Doi Kong Mu Temple because my legs were very sore. I really couldn't walk up.

After walking around, I stopped for a drink.

The Crossroadsbar is conveniently located at the intersection just before your accommodation, making it an easy and comfortable walk back.

Day 4

October 13, 2018

Returned to Bangkok with Sombut Tour as usual.

You can ask the accommodation to call a motorcycle taxi for you.

We will depart in the afternoon and arrive home early in the morning.

This concludes the first review.

See you on the next trip.

Apologies for the limited number of photos.
