The Tokyo tour is now complete. For those who missed the "Tokyo: Travel Anytime" episode, you can click the link below to revisit the first day's journey and explore Tokyo.

Early Morning Journey to Kawaguchiko

Waking up before dawn, I prepared for my journey to Kawaguchiko. From Nakano-shimbashi Station, I boarded a train to Shinjuku Station, aiming to catch the 8:55 AM bus. Having booked my ticket in advance, I was relieved to find the bus already full, highlighting the importance of pre-booking for those traveling to Kawaguchiko by bus.

The sentence is already in English. Is there anything else I can help you with?

The express bus I booked departs from Shinjuku and is operated by Keiko Dentetsu Bus, which has two bus terminals: Shinjuku and Shibuya.

I chose to depart from Shinjuku due to its convenient transportation and proximity to my accommodation. Upon arriving at Shinjuku Station, I proceeded to the highway bus terminal located across the street. The ticket counter and bus platform are situated on the 4th floor.

After submitting my reservation documents, the staff double-checked to ensure everything matched my booking. Once everything was in order, I boarded the bus and took a seat at the front, as I had reserved, to enjoy a wider view.

The scenic views along the way are also enjoyable when traveling by car.

I fell asleep on the train and woke up to Mount Fuji right in front of me. I still remember the image and feeling of seeing Mount Fuji for the first time, and I couldn't help but exclaim "Wow!" It was truly magnificent and beautiful, living up to its reputation.

The Journey Begins: Exploring Kawaguchiko Station and Beyond

The bus deposited me at Kawaguchiko Station, where I found myself with time to spare before checking into my hotel. Needing to lighten my load, I opted to store my luggage at the station's convenient baggage storage facility. Located on the far left near the restrooms, this small room houses locker-style compartments for safekeeping your belongings. Just opposite the storage area, you'll find a coin exchange machine, ready to provide the necessary currency for securing your luggage.

With my bags safely stowed, I set off to explore the surrounding area. My first stop: the iconic red pagoda of Fujiyoshida City, a vibrant landmark beckoning me to delve deeper into the region's rich history and cultural tapestry.

Many people are familiar with the image of the red pagoda with Mount Fuji in the background. This time, I couldn't miss the opportunity to visit the actual place at least once in my life.

After leaving my luggage at Kawaguchiko Station, I wasted no time in booking a train ticket to Fujiyoshida.

The train station and trains here are decorated very cutely, with a unique Japanese style. Children would probably love it, and I do too.

This is the train that will take us to the city of Fujiyoshida. We will need to get off at Shimoyoshida Station and walk for another 10 minutes. The pagoda is located on a hill, which will take about 5 minutes to walk up.

In front of Shimoyoshida Station

Upon arrival at Shimoyoshida Station, there will be signs and a map guiding you to the Red Pagoda, located in front of the station.

Follow the signs.

It takes about 5 minutes to walk to the temple entrance stairs.

We can also make wishes at the temple.

The fatigue vanished as I looked back.

As we approach the viewpoint, the majestic red pagoda stands tall before us.

The location where we will take photos requires a short climb up the stairs.

And this is a photo that many people must take if they visit here.

The Chureito Pagoda: A Stunning View of Mount Fuji

The Chureito Pagoda, a five-story structure perched atop a hill, offers breathtaking panoramic views of Fujiyoshida City and the majestic Mount Fuji. Situated within the grounds of the Arakura Sengen Shrine, the pagoda was erected in 1963 to commemorate peace and tranquility.

Most tourists visit this location to admire the breathtaking scenery of Mount Fuji alongside the five-story pagoda. This is especially true during the spring cherry blossom season, which typically occurs around mid-April, and the autumn foliage season, which lasts for the first half of November. These periods are particularly popular for nature viewing.

In addition to the Red Pagoda, this area also offers stunning views of Mount Fuji.

Visiting the Chureito Pagoda

Admission: Free

Getting there: From Kawaguchiko Station, take the Fujikyu Railway Line to Shimo-Yoshida Station. From there, it's a 10-minute walk to the pagoda. The pagoda is located on a hill, so be prepared for a 5-minute climb.

Strolling through Kawaguchiko

Kawaguchiko offers a delightful walking experience, with stunning views of Mount Fuji and the surrounding lake.

After admiring the beauty of the red pagoda, I took the train back to Kawaguchiko City. As it was not yet check-in time, I decided to take a walk around the train station and find a restaurant for lunch. Along the way, I took photos of Mount Fuji, which was stunningly beautiful.

Before checking in, ask the locals first. They're sitting with a grumpy face. 5555

After walking for a while, I came across a restaurant called Sanrokuen. It's a skewer-style barbecue restaurant with delicious food. I also got to try some traditional Japanese-style dishes. I highly recommend giving it a try. Additionally, the owner speaks Thai.

After finishing my meal, it was time to check into my accommodation. I stayed in Kawaguchiko for just one night. As usual, I booked my accommodation through Airbnb.com, and it was a Japanese person's house.

I arrived at my accommodation feeling exhausted and hungry. It was the perfect time to rest. I planned to take a short nap to regain my energy and then go for a walk around Lake Kawaguchiko in the evening. However, I ended up falling into a deep sleep. When I woke up, it was pitch black outside. I looked at my watch and it was almost 10 pm! I had missed my chance to walk by the lake. I felt a pang of regret at that moment, but I consoled myself by thinking that at least I had seen Mount Fuji. That was enough for me. I woke up feeling hungry late at night. All the restaurants were closed, so I had to settle for this.

I'm looking for something to eat at a 7-Eleven near the train station.

Farewell, Mount Fuji

The next day, I hurriedly packed my belongings and prepared for my onward journey.

I captured the breathtaking scenery, taking photos of Mount Fuji as a souvenir. Wherever I went, my eyes were glued to Mount Fuji. If you ever come to Japan, I highly recommend seeing Mount Fuji with your own eyes. You will discover the wonders of nature, the grandeur, and the beauty of Mount Fuji. It's no wonder that Mount Fuji is a symbol of Japan.

"Hoping to see you again, Mount Fuji."
