If you’re a fan of egg tarts, I’m sure will love this place as I so am! The crispy crust, filled with egg custard served right off the oven, dang, probably one of the freshest I have ever tried.. Bunn Choon Egg Tart, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

CHINATOWN IN KUALA LUMPUR

After staying at such an awesome Airbnb for a few days, we needed to move as we didn’t book it long enough. Actually, that’s kind of a good way of doing so we actually have a chance to move around a bit, check out some other areas out without traveling so far everyday to get from one spot to another. We decided to move to Chinatown Area. Not sure how it works where you are but in Thailand, Chinatown sounds like a foodie area and we assumed it would just work the same way elsewhere.

No, we’re not wrong. We moved to a small hotel, Season Point Hotel located in the area either in or close enough to Chinatown where it’s so easy to walk around to get some good food from street food to fancy restaurants. We did some research a bit before going on a food tour. Bunn Choon Egg Tart is something people talk about it online a lot! Believe it or not, it’s literally 1 min walk from the hotel!!

BUNN CHOON EGG TART, KUALA LUMPUR

THE EGG TART IS A KIND OF CUSTARD TART FOUND IN PORTUGAL, MACAU, HONG KONG, MAINLAND CHINA, TAIWAN, ARGENTINA, BRAZIL, BRITAIN, AND VARIOUS ASIAN COUNTRIES. THE DISH CONSISTS OF AN OUTER PASTRY CRUST AND IS FILLED WITH EGG CUSTARD AND BAKED.

There are quite a few places in Thailand you could get this but you wouldn’t walk into any market and find them anywhere. It’s not that common in Thailand. Oh!! KFC in Thailand sell them! Those are good as well but hey, can’t be better than this one shop I found in Kuala Lumpur, Bunn Choon Egg Tart.

EGG TARTS AT BUNN CHOON EGG TART

They have a few flavours / colours of the crust. Green Pandan, Golden Original, Black Charcoal.. They all sound and looked really good but we chose the original one as it looks Golden! I’m pretty sure it’s somewhere less than RM 2. So reasonable price for what a treat we have gotten.

IT’S ONE OF THE FRESHEST EGG TARTS I HAVE EATEN, LIKE, SERIOUSLY

The egg tarts can come right out of the oven any minute and you will just notice right away both because of its super duper great smell and also, the baking station is just there! 5 feet away from the selling counter, you can see the process of them making the crusts, putting them into the oven and see them coming out.

The crust is still so crispy and warm. The egg custard is melt-in-your-mouth soft. It’s so eggy and not too sweet. Both thing combined in the mouth and I felt like I fell in love once again.

BUNN CHOON EGG TART ACROSS THE COUNTRY

No, they don’t have oversea store but the early morning before we flew out of the country, we stopped by the shop and get a few boxes for family back in Thailand. It’s like 5 hours journey before getting to the house and dude, I don’t think it’s a good idea to do so. Eating at the shop was heavenly delicious. Takeaway makes it cool, and no, no more crispiness. Not even one member of my family says it’s good.. Uh oh!

IT’S REALLY REALLY REALLY GOOD IF YOU HAVE IT THERE OR SOON ENOUGH !

Not to exaggerate but this is one of the best of the best egg tarts I have had. I know it just can’t go wrong with egg tarts but hey, to make it this good.. I don’t think every place can do the same.

For sure check Bunn Choon Egg Tart out and have a few pieces or so when you’re in Kuala Lumpur. I would totally be back in KL just for that! (Now this is a bit exaggerating :D)
