Hello everyone, today I would like to review a delicious restaurant in Rayong province.
This restaurant is called Baan Kru Moo, located on Yomjinda Road, a major tourist street in Rayong. The owner of Baan Kru Moo, or Kru Moo, is the grandson of the last governor of Rayong, "Phra Sri Samutphok" (Im Yomjinda). This house was built after his retirement in 1932. When he passed away, his descendants continued to live there.
The restaurant is not very large and is located right next to the Rayong River. It is decorated with many valuable antiques, like a small museum for visitors to enjoy. Just walking into the restaurant makes you feel better immediately because the atmosphere is so relaxed and inviting. When we arrived at the restaurant, it had just opened, so we were the first table. This allowed us to snag a great spot by the river, where we could enjoy our meal in a beautiful setting. Not only does Baan Kru Moo have a great atmosphere, but the food is also amazing. They serve traditional Rayong dishes that you can't find anywhere else, and every dish is delicious.
First, let's take a look at the atmosphere inside the shop and the museum of old valuables. Starting with the antique telephones, which are collected in abundance.
An iron and an antique jukebox
I remember this model from when I was a little kid. It's a bit blurry in my memory, I must have been around three years old. But I remember being in a shop near my old house.
Enjoy watching!
This model has been heavily used.
It looks like it's still open.
Do you know what this is?
I forgot to mention that the interior of the shop displaying these antique items is a wooden house with large floorboards. Imagine, where can you find such floorboards these days? They are rare.
Stepping inside the house, I was immediately struck by the sense of peace and tranquility. The atmosphere was so serene, and the old-world charm of the furnishings added to the overall ambiance.
Now let's talk about the food. First of all, when you arrive at the restaurant and find a table to sit at, the shop will serve you cold water in a refreshing jug like this. It's a refreshing welcome.
The restaurant serves local cuisine and has a limited menu. Today, we ordered the dishes recommended by the restaurant and many others. We didn't miss out on ordering any of the signature dishes. Starting with the first dish, "Kaeng Rai Ong" or "Kaeng Rayong," a spicy dish that is a local favorite. It's a curry made with pineapple shoots, pork, and a secret spicy curry paste that you can't find anywhere else. The taste is similar to jungle curry, but it's much more delicious because the pineapple shoots add a lot more depth and spice to the flavor. It's absolutely delicious.
There are a lot of three friends.
The next menu is the ancient omelet, which is filled with many ingredients. It is fried until fluffy and fragrant. It is eaten with hot rice. It is really delicious.
The ancient stir-fried glass noodles is a family recipe that my grandfather, the former city lord, loved very much. My grandmother had to make it to the table almost every week. It uses glass noodles stir-fried with pickled garlic pork and shrimp, but the highlight is the high-quality pickled garlic, which helps cut the spiciness of the curry. This menu is a must-order when you go to the restaurant.
The next menu is Pad Cha stir-fried with mixed vegetables. It's a delicious and flavorful Pad Cha, not too salty or sweet. It's perfect with hot steamed rice. It's truly delicious.
Finally, here's a picture of all the food we ordered. The restaurant doesn't have a lot of menu items, but everything we ordered was delicious.
Here's a little tip for those who want to dine at Baan Kru Moo. The restaurant is open daily from 5 pm to 9 pm (5:00 pm to 9:00 pm). I've heard from others that the food can be slow, but since we were the first table and were worried about the warnings from others, we got our food quickly and had no problem waiting.
The location of the restaurant is not difficult to find. The restaurant is located on Yomchinda Road. The entrance to the alley is opposite Ra Yong Restaurant, another famous restaurant on Yomchinda Road. If you see Ra Yong Restaurant, walk into the small alley opposite Ra Yong Restaurant. There is parking available inside the restaurant, but it may be a bit limited. It is recommended for those who are going to eat to find parking outside and walk in to enjoy the atmosphere of Yomchinda Road, along with eating at the restaurant.
That's all for the review. Thank you for watching.
