Before we embark on a journey through the enchanting atmosphere of a dinner cruise with "SongFangKlong Cruise," let us delve into the rich history of "SongFangKlong."

The Enduring Legacy of the Two-Sided Canal Boat: A Historical Perspective

This passage delves into the rich history of the two-sided canal boat, a vessel that has traversed the waterways of Thailand for decades. In the past, when water transportation reigned supreme, these boats served as the primary mode of conveyance, connecting communities and facilitating the movement of goods and people.

Prior to the extensive road networks of today, waterways offered a more convenient means of travel. The two-sided canal boat, also known as the "mail boat" or "green/red boat," played a pivotal role in this era, transporting passengers and cargo between Sena district in Ayutthaya province and the Phra Nakhon district, specifically the Tha Tien pier.

The enduring legacy of these boats underscores their significance in Thailand's transportation history. They stand as a testament to the ingenuity and adaptability of the people who relied on them for their daily lives and commerce.

Subsequently, Buddy Group Co., Ltd. became the owner of this ship and renovated it while preserving its interior and hull design to retain the charm of Thai art, which blends with European colonial-style art. Customers who use the service to cruise along both sides of this canal can still experience the luxurious and beautiful blend of Thai and European styles. The two-sided canal boat therefore still retains its unique beauty, preserving the splendor of the past for all to experience.

The contrasting beauty of the two sides of the canal, as experienced during a dinner cruise, is a unique experience. The boat retains its Thai identity, with luxurious and inviting decorations. The fans and lamps evoke a sense of nostalgia, as if we were traveling back in time. Imagine wearing a traditional Thai costume from the Rattanakosin era; it would perfectly complement the ambiance.

A picturesque twilight scene before the boat departs

We arrived at the restaurant quite a while before the boat's departure, allowing us to enjoy the beautiful evening atmosphere while waiting. The restaurant offered a comfortable space to relax and admire the bridge as we sipped our drinks and savored the cool breeze.

The gangway and spiral staircase lead to the top deck, which also serves as a viewing platform. However, the space is rather limited.

Taking our seats, it was time for the boat to depart. We were served refreshing lotus flower tea, which filled the air with a delightful floral aroma as we sipped it.

The boat will cruise from the Kin Lom Chom Saphan restaurant, located near the Rama VIII Bridge, to Asiatique The Riverfront and back.

The food on the boat may not be fully captured in the photos, but it will be served gradually. The first dish is pomelo salad, which is delicious and has a Thai flavor.

The boat glides along, offering scenic views of various landmarks. This is Wang Lang Pier, a popular spot for street food during the day. We enjoy strolling here during the day, as the food options are plentiful.

We are currently sailing past the Temple of Dawn.

The view was absolutely stunning. During the cruise, the weather was perfect, with a cool breeze and a pleasant atmosphere.

Mieng kham was then served.

Drinks were also continuously served, but we did not take any pictures of them.

I can't remember exactly where, but I took some pictures of some beautiful places and I'll share them with you.

Grilled pork skewers

The cruise ship sailed past the Phra Phuttha Yodfa Bridge, a significant historical bridge over the Chao Phraya River.

Gliding along, we passed restaurants, houses, and riverside hotels, all beautifully lit up.

The bustling Chao Phraya River is a tapestry of vessels, from humble ferries to majestic tour boats. During my student days in Bangkok, I frequently crossed the river on ferries, commuting between Sathorn and my university. While I rarely venture to this area now, cruising the Chao Phraya still evokes a sense of excitement and nostalgia. I recall those carefree days when, after an early dismissal, I would hop on an express boat, stopping at Tha Chang or Wang Lang to explore the Grand Palace or Wat Phra Kaew. Now, years into my career, despite living in Bangkok, opportunities to embark on such leisurely river journeys are scarce.

Sailing to Asiatique, you can see the Ferris wheel from afar. If you have the chance, try riding the Ferris wheel. I have been there before. The view is beautiful, fun, and very impressive.

The main course is now being served.

Enjoy the beautiful scenery while having your meal.

We are now heading back to the starting point, as the boat will make a loop back to Asiatique.

Sailing back to Phuttha Bridge, I am still impressed by every place. In the past, I took bus number 7 from home to Phra Phuttha Yodfa Bridge, walked through the market to Pak Khlong Talat to buy flowers in bags to worship Buddha frequently.

Followed by dessert, but this time, we'll take the dessert and sit on the deck to enjoy the breeze and eat while watching the scenery as we go.

A boat sailed past a tourist boat, the passengers seemed to be having a great time, waving and greeting our boat.

One of the most impressive landmarks, Wat Phra Kaew, is a temple of exquisite beauty.

We passed through Tha Maharaj and Tha Wang Lang again, which are located opposite each other on different sides of the Chao Phraya River. We have never been to Tha Maharaj before, so we will try to visit it sometime.

The boat glided along the river, the cool breeze caressing our faces. The breathtaking scenery on both sides of the Chao Phraya River left a lasting impression. We passed numerous boats, each offering a unique glimpse into the vibrant life along the river. While we couldn't capture every moment in photographs, the memories of this enchanting journey will forever remain etched in our minds. This unforgettable experience aboard the SongFangKlong Dinner Cruise was truly a testament to the beauty and charm of the Chao Phraya River.

The boat then returned to the pier at the "Ruen Gin Lom Chom Saphan" restaurant. The two-hour journey was truly memorable, and we highly recommend it to everyone.

After boarding the boat, we were treated to stunning views from the Rama VIII Bridge, along with the boats lining both sides of the canal. This concludes our beautiful evening trip.

The atmosphere of the restaurant "Gin Lom Chom Saphan" before returning. For customers who come to eat, there is also live music, singing songs for you to listen to, which is very beautiful. Which is the restaurant "Gin Lom Chom Saphan" and the boat "Songfanklong Cruise".
