*** Update as of July 2, 2016: I called Thepsathit Ville and they no longer have motorbikes for rent.
When it comes to rainy season tourist attractions... you must not miss this place "Tung Dok Krachiao, Chaiyaphum Province"
Krachiao flowers, or another name "Bua Sawan", pink-purple flowers, the queen of the rainforest
In one year, Krachiao flowers bloom for about 2 months.
This year, Chaiyaphum Province organized a Krachiao flower viewing event during June - August. But we just had free time in early September. TT Luckily, the rain came late this year, so the Krachiao flowers bloomed late as well. We called the officer for information. He said there were still some left, but they were starting to wither. 'About what percentage?' 'About 50 percent,' he said. We decided to go.
The journey begins at Chatuchak Park. The van of Thepsathit Tour is located at Chatuchak Gate 4 (walk past JJ Green a little bit).
The fare is 200 baht per person from Bangkok. The van operates from 07.30 - 20.00 (0899468279).
As for Chaiyaphum, the van operates from 06.00 - 18.00 (0806611897). The travel time is approximately 4 hours.
Tell the driver to drop you off at Thepsathit Ville, which is our accommodation for this trip. The van passes in front of the accommodation.
Thepsathit Ville is quite far from the Tung Bua Kaeo flower field, but the reason we chose to stay here is because they have motorcycles for rent.
If anyone has information about accommodation near the Tung Bua Kaeo flower field and has motorcycles for rent, please let me know.
The price of the accommodation is also very good. We chose the cheapest room, which is 400 baht per night with breakfast for 2 people.
There are many types of rooms available, including wooden houses, which cost 650-700 baht per night. You can check it out on this website: http://www.thepsatitview.com
Oh... there is also a water park here. Adults 60 baht, children 40 baht. But we didn't go in because it wasn't our goal for this trip ^^
For other information, you can contact them here: 044855288
This is what a 400 baht per night accommodation looks like. It has air conditioning, a water heater, a TV, and breakfast included.
This is enough to sleep comfortably. Actually, I wanted to go camping and sleep in a tent, but I was afraid of sleeping in the rain (and it actually rained).
In front of the room, you can see the strangely shaped Khao Phanom Dom. Could it be the Mount Fuji of Chaiyaphum? ^^
He bowed his head at different times…
As soon as I entered the room, I turned on the air conditioner and slept for a long time... I have no plans to go anywhere today. I need to rest before tomorrow's big day.
I woke up feeling very hungry. On the way here, I saw a market near my accommodation. The food at the market is similar to what we have back home, but it looks so much more delicious and is also very cheap! They have youtiao with fillings, round Isan sausages that cost one baht each back home, but here they are much bigger and tastier. I bought 20 baht worth and got a lot! ^^
I brought back a lot of food. I'm going to order rice to eat at the accommodation. (Why did you go to the market earlier?)
We also had a single dish, stir-fried curry with seafood and fried egg, for 140 baht. We found a cheap place to eat after eating expensive food. It's great!
Last night I set the alarm clock... to wake up and breathe the morning air.
I took a shower, got dressed, and sat down to wait for breakfast from 7:00 am (breakfast here starts from 7:00 am to 10:00 am).
The alarm clock went off as scheduled, and I got out of my warm blanket and opened the door. Oops! It's cold and there's some fog.
The next scene is that I walked back and fell asleep again without realizing it.
In conclusion, I didn't come out to have breakfast until after 9:00 am. TT It's okay, the travel plan can always be changed (comfort myself for a moment!).
There are two options for breakfast here: pork congee and breakfast set.
Coffee and bread are available for self-service. The food looks like this!
After finishing breakfast, I went to pick up the motorbike key that I had rented from the accommodation.
The staff emphasized that for 500 baht per day, they will fill the tank for us. When we return the car tomorrow, we will fill it back up for them as well.
The details of the expenses will be summarized at the end of the review. ^^
We took photos of every nook and cranny of the motorcycle, including any defects, as evidence to protect ourselves.
Our first destination today is the field of Siam tulips at Thung Salaeng Luang National Park.
In addition to the pink ginger flowers, there are also white ones here!
Judging from the map, it's a round trip of over a hundred kilometers, so don't forget to prepare yourself. Sunscreen, hats, sun protection, raincoats.
All right, let's go! We're leaving at 10:20 AM. This is our morning already, right?
The weather is cool, but the sun is strong. As a tough and strong person, I can ride a motorcycle for a long distance.
The road was lined with rolling hills of cassava fields, interspersed with verdant rice paddies. We heard our boyfriend take a deep breath.
Let me try… Oh my, it's so refreshing! The air is so fresh throughout the trip. We took deep breaths of fresh air very often.
We used Google Maps to navigate, I don't remember when we arrived at the Thung Thong National Park Tourist Service Center, but I was tired and my phone was almost dead.
The entrance fee to the park is 40 baht per person and 20 baht for vehicles, but the ticket says 30 baht. In total, we paid 100 baht for the entrance fee. We stopped by to get our National Park Passport stamped and to ask for information on how to get there. The officer asked us what kind of vehicle we were in, and we said a motorcycle. He said that we could ride across the stream, but if we were in a low-riding car, the park would have a pickup truck to take us there.
The price is 80 baht per person, but this price is for 8 people or more. The car will only leave then. And during the time we went, there were very few tourists. So we asked for a price of more than 400 baht. I can't remember the exact price because my brain stopped at the word 'riding a motorbike across the stream'.
How can I ride across! The water is half the height of a pickup truck! If I have to wait for 8 people, I won't be able to go for sure.
Let's go! Ride to assess the situation first to see if we can ride across?
My boyfriend said I could cross, but! I had to lead the way to find the shallowest path.
And then we were able to safely bring the motorcycle across without it stalling. Hehe.
As I reached the other side, my eyes caught sight of a group of living things.
We like this color the most ^^
I zoomed in as much as I could, but the photos still didn't do justice to the real thing. I didn't want to disturb the butterfly any further, so I moved on.
So many butterflies! It's the first time I've seen so many butterflies. If I had come by pickup truck, I wouldn't have had the chance to stop and look.
Happiness...sometimes it's along the way ^^
We arrived at the starting point of the walk. The atmosphere was very quiet, with only officials and shops selling clothes and souvenirs. We went to buy water from an official and asked where the Amorphophallus paeoniifolius were. The official said that there were the most in Field 1, but it was a long walk, about 5 kilometers.
Hey! It's only 5 kilometers, easy peasy! We bought 2 bottles of water, let's go!!!
The first spot we encountered was 'Pha Phao Muang'. Looking down below, the small houses looked like toys... P.S. Our first bottle of water ran out here. Remember to put the empty bottle back in your bag when you leave.
The next point is 'Pha Ham Hot', which translates to 'Cliff of Shrinking Genitals'.
Please be careful when taking photos. Don't let the fun get in the way of your safety. There is also a warning here that no more than 3 people should be on the edge of the rock at any one time!
But we came 2 people, can we sit together? ><
Our next stop is the 'Tung 1 flower field'. Along the way, there were very few flowers to be seen in the Tung 3 and Tung 2 fields. The weather was starting to get hot, and we were both starting to get hungry. The rice porridge, sausages, and bread that we had for breakfast must have been burned off during our bike ride.
As I walked along, I looked down at the ground. The sun was shining down on the sand, making it sparkle.
Surrounded by the sound of insects chirping, it felt like it was just the two of us here. It was fun to travel like this, just the two of us. We walked, teased each other, and cracked cheesy jokes. It felt like we were in another world, completely different from our daily lives. We were so focused on walking and the field of pink lilies that we didn't even realize what we had forgotten! Finally, we arrived at the first field of pink lilies. The sun was strong, so we looked for a place to rest in the shade of a tree to avoid the sunlight. Even though we came when the pink lilies were starting to wilt, we still thought they were beautiful. The field was on a slope, allowing us to see the view below.
There will be a path to walk and a warning sign that says do not walk into the field.
However, there were tourists who couldn't read the signs and walked across the field. -_-
Next year, be careful too. Don't worry about taking pictures until you forget the rules!
When the intended goal is achieved... I start thinking about something else. That something else is... hunger!
We heard people talking downstairs, so we went down. It was a camping ground, so we hoped there would be something to eat.
It turned out that there was a family having a picnic and eating together. They were even hungrier than before. -_-"
We walked down and decided to go back another way. We didn't check if it was farther than before. We just knew that there was a way, so we walked. We wanted to go out to eat. TT
Along the way, we also encountered 'white ginger lily', which has smaller flowers than the pink variety.
Have you ever been so hungry that your hands were shaking? What I'm saying is that we've forgotten a lot of things.
We forgot that...we only had a little bit of rice this morning.
We forgot that... our boyfriend is a good water drinker.
We forgot that...hiking at noon is very hot!
Once, my boyfriend stopped walking... He said his legs were shaking and he was out of water.
We feel the same way. We're so hungry! But I don't dare say anything. It's happened so many times... that I've brought him here and we've encountered something like this.
I can't help but laugh now, but at that time I couldn't laugh. I was really hungry. 55555
It was because of a wrong turn that I came across a som tam shop. It was a small shop in the village, but the taste was extraordinary.
Sure, two plates of papaya salad, five chicken skewers, and one plate of sticky rice.
The receptionist was very friendly.
She's so cute, begging for chicken bones. Hehe.
"Hey, spicy papaya salad?"
'Hey there, what's up?'
We enjoy talking to local people, it's fun. We like the language and local culture of each place we visit.
The total cost for this meal is 110 baht, which is very cheap.
We still use Google Map to navigate back as usual. The only thing is that the battery is about to run out!!
It was because I took a wrong turn at the beginning, so it led me in a different direction. At first, I just rode along with it.
After a while, we found a laterite road. The cassava field was not it.
The path is at the mouth. This phrase can always be used! We've come a long way, our battery is dead, and we have to find a way back against time. If it gets dark, it will be even more difficult.
Following the signs, I eventually found my way back.
I want to say here that...we need to observe our surroundings. We can't always rely on technology.
It rained heavily last night... very exciting! I wonder if we'll see fog tomorrow. Foggy ginger lily ^^
Waking up at the time we set, we will go to collect the fog at Pa Hin Ngam National Park.
The distance is not close at all, it seems like I left late... The sun is starting to chase away the fog. The weather is very cold today, with light fog all the way.
The atmosphere at Pa Hin Ngam National Park is completely different from that of Trai Thong National Park.
This place has more amenities, is more lively, with more shops, service vehicles, and tourists.
The vendor said this is a ginger lily. We went to ask why it doesn't look like the one we saw before.
Vendor... Oh, this is 'large ginger lily'.
We... Huh! What did you say?
Shopkeeper... The big ginger lily that we went to see, it's a small ginger lily!
Hey! I think the name isn't very cute!
The entrance fee is 40 baht per person, the convenience fee is 30 baht, and the transportation fee to take us to different points is another 30 baht per person.
Once you have paid, you can board the bus. There are 3 places we should visit: Pha Sud Pha Din, Tung Dok Krachiao, and Lan Hin Ngam.
The first stop is 'Pha Sud Pha Din', which is the border area of 3 regions: Northeast, Central and North.
Okay...on the way back, you can take any car back.
Finally, what we were waiting for last night has arrived. Today, we might not be able to catch the fog at Yod Khao Kiew in time.
But the freebies I got were way beyond my expectations ^^
From the cliff at the end of the land, walk to the left and you will find a field of ginger lilies. The Pa Hin Ngam National Park has built a walkway for you, making it a very comfortable walk.
If you want to bring children and the elderly to see the flowers together as a family, we think that the Pa Hin Ngam National Park is more suitable.
The distance is not far, there are some flowers to see. If you come when it's 100% blooming, it must be very beautiful ^^
Where is the mist teasing the ginger flower? There's only sunshine 5555
After admiring the ginger flowers, we walked to the bus stop to go to the 'Beautiful Stone Field'.
At Hin Ngam, there are strangely shaped rocks, each named after its shape and characteristics.
Don't forget your sunscreen! There are only low bushes here, so there's almost nowhere to hide from the sun. It's soooo hot!
The first rock I found was the 'castle rock', which provided a little shade.
'Giant Mother Hen Rock'
'Pung Ling' or 'Mo Ham Tang' 555, are they similar?
'FIFA World Cup Trophy'
There are also Eravan elephant stones, radar plate stones, and Tham Mok stones, but I couldn't find them. The weather was also very hot. After walking around to see the various shaped stones, we waited for a car to take us back to the park office. On our way back, we stopped to eat papaya salad by the side of the road (papaya salad again). We didn't stop anywhere else because it was time to return the motorbike. There are other nearby attractions, such as the Rocky Land Sheep Farm. Next time, I will come back to see the places I haven't been to yet and take pictures of the fog and the flowers.
After checking out from the hotel and receiving the key deposit, I walked towards Lotus Express for almost a kilometer. The van terminal back to Bangkok is located on the opposite side, just a little past the green bank. The last van leaves at 6:00 PM.
It's nice to be here during this time.
There aren't many people, it's not crowded, and I don't have to get frustrated.
However, it may not be as beautiful as when many people come to visit.
Each place and each person has a different beautiful time.
It depends on when we encounter it and what we choose to remember.
I'm sure I'll have to come back here again because there are still many places in Chaiyaphum that I want to visit, such as camping and watching the stars at Mo Hin Khao. ^^
