Have you ever wondered if the King has ever visited the South?

I want to shout out loud,

"There is no place he has not been."

Every inch of Thailand is filled with the footprints of his royal presence.

This is why we have chosen to follow in his footsteps in our hometown of Phatthalung.

Although Phatthalung is just a small province, His Majesty visited eight times. If we were to count the number of times he visited all over Thailand, we would not be able to count them all. My grandmother told me that when he visited, she walked from her house to receive him, a distance of 30 km. (The journey was that difficult) It was a moment of great joy for the people of Phatthalung, which we ourselves did not experience, but we would like to record it for future generations to know about the kindness of our beloved King.

๙ Following in the footsteps of the father I ๙ Following the eight footprints of the royal feet I ณ Phatthalung

This time, we traveled with my father. Yes, we followed in the footsteps of the King, with my own father driving us. (I didn't want to use my father's labor, but I don't know how to drive. Volunteers are welcome.) During our trip, Phatthalung was experiencing its worst flooding in many years. As I write this, the floods are still ongoing. We send our best wishes to everyone affected by the floods. :)

For those who don't know the charm of Phatthalung, you can read more at "Phatthalung Station" (We are children of Ban Ban, we are children of Phatthalung) https://th.readme.me/p/4667

The following eight routes will be the eight routes that the King first visited 55 years ago. Let's take a look at the pictures from 55 years ago and the present.

First visit

Phatthalung Provincial Hall

On March 17, 1959, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen traveled by royal car to Wat Khuha Sawan, Mueang Phatthalung District, Phatthalung Province. They paid homage to the Buddha statue in the Khuha Sawan cave.

They inscribed their royal initials, B.B. and S.G.

The pavilion was built at the cliff face in front of the cave. His Majesty also visited his subjects in front of the Phatthalung Provincial Hall. During that visit, approximately 35,000 people came to pay their respects.

"Khao Ok Thalu", also known as "Khao Ok Lu" by the locals, is a mountain located in the heart of Phatthalung city, covering three sub-districts: Prang Mu, Khuha Sawan, and Phaya Khan. The people of Phatthalung consider Khao Ok Thalu to be the main pillar and symbol of Phatthalung province. Moreover, this mountain is also mentioned in the provincial motto of Phatthalung: "City of หนังโนรา, Rice Barn, Beautiful Waterfalls, Bird Sanctuary, Beautiful Lake, Khao Ok Thalu, Hot Springs".

Khao Ok Thalu is another important tourist attraction in Phatthalung Province. To reach the top of Khao Ok Thalu, you will need to be patient, as you will have to climb over 1,066 steps. It's a great way to exercise while enjoying the fresh air. Along the way, you will be surrounded by beautiful trees. At first, you can enjoy the breeze and the view, but after a while, you may start to feel out of breath.

Reaching the top, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Phatthalung Province through the hole. :) It might be a bit tiring to climb up, but it's worth it!
