"Sa-Meang": A Place to Remember in Chiang Mai

January 7-8, 2017

Two adventurous women embarked on a spontaneous trip to Sa-Meang, a charming district in Chiang Mai, Thailand. With only their backpacks and a yearning for nature, they set off on a journey filled with scenic beauty and unforgettable memories.

Day 1: A Serendipitous Adventure Begins

Their journey began on a Saturday afternoon at the Chang Phuak Bus Terminal in Chiang Mai. Opting for public transportation, they boarded a local bus bound for Sa-Meang. As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the landscape, they realized that bus services were limited due to local graduation ceremonies. Fortunately, they managed to secure a ride, narrowly avoiding a delay.

Day 2: Exploring the Enchanting Sa-Meang

Upon arriving in Sa-Meang, they checked into their accommodation and ventured out to explore the district's natural wonders. The lush greenery, cascading waterfalls, and serene atmosphere provided a welcome respite from the city's hustle and bustle.

Memories to Cherish

Their trip to Sa-Meang was a testament to the beauty of unplanned adventures. The unexpected challenges and the breathtaking scenery created a unique and unforgettable experience. As they bid farewell to this enchanting district, they knew they would forever cherish the memories they had made.

"Sa-moeng - Ban Bo Kaew"

The yellow songthaew operates from approximately 09:00 to 16:00.

We took the last ride of the day at 15:40, which cost 60 baht per person and dropped us off in Sa-moeng. The songthaew is not for those in a hurry, as it takes a leisurely route with scenic views. The journey took about 2 hours and 30 minutes, and the songthaew stopped right in front of the resort where we were staying.

For those who are driving, the route from Hang Dong to Sa-moeng is easily accessible. The road is in good condition, with only a few slight inclines.

"Pundin Resort & Art Gallery Indie at the foot of the mountain" Note: Caption from Arm, the owner of the resort. 555+++ Isn't it chic?

The owner of this resort must be a figment of my imagination. The resemblance is uncanny! 555+++

Let me show you a glimpse of the reception area before I head to my room to unpack.

This indie resort has a TV and a water heater, but it's not really necessary in the cold weather. You won't be taking a shower anyway, haha!

After packing my things, I'm going to take some cool pictures with the dim lighting around the resort.

This is our landmark for a light party on this lonely night.

"There's no room for the weak to stand." That's what they say, haha.

Beauty as expected, Art with nature

Get ready to set up a circle, play soft songs, and bite the hearts of many people in this circle. 555+++

I forgot to mention that the accommodation has breakfast. As for dinner, we can buy food to grill.

which the owner also shopped and carried things up The accommodation has equipment for grilling ready. It's great.

Tonight's guitarist is none other than Arm, the owner of the accommodation himself. He is the most friendly person ever. You have to try it yourself. It's like having a party at a friend's house at the foot of the mountain.

And new friendships with people we've never met before. Come alone, but not lonely. At this point

There is a story behind how this place came to be. If you want to know, you have to try it yourself.

Accommodation | Art | Friendship | Nature

"Indie cat" joins the party. Just look at the name and you know how indie it is. Haha.

Good morning on Sunday, January 8th... I went to bed at 2 am and woke up at 6 am to see the fog. I was so sleepy and cold, haha.
Brother Arm told me to start the engine at 6 am, so I quickly got out of bed. No need to ask if I washed my face, haha. I just went like that.

The fog was so thick. Let's open the roof and go up the mountain to see the fog.

We have arrived at our mist viewpoint, "Wat Phra That Doi Nok".

The sun has risen above the mist... let's take a tour around Sameing before breakfast.

The life of the people here, "Samaeng", seems to be accustomed to the fast-paced, online world we live in today. However, few people know that on the other side of the mountain, there is a completely different way of life. It is a simple way of life, a rural way of life that is uncluttered, unpretentious, and even indifferent to the world. The people here focus on taking care of themselves and their loved ones. In simple terms, even without money, they can still have a full stomach and a good night's sleep. (Wow, I'm jealous!)

Feeling hungry now! Let's go back to the accommodation. It's time to eat!

Simple and delicious breakfast at Khantoke... The highlight is the spicy fermented fish dip. Where did it come from? 555+++ What does it have to do with Khantoke?

Full and satisfied, it's time to shower and prepare to return to reality. Haha!
On the way back today, we'll hitch a ride with Arm into town. Nice work, huh?

This is where we say goodbye.
Thank you for the new friendships formed in this lonely land.
Thank you for the warm hospitality from Arm, Pantip Din Resort & Art.
And last but not least, thank you to all the fellow travelers who braved the journey with us. Haha! See you later!
