Hello everyone :)
As someone who loves to travel, I find it essential to explore new places during my free time. Working on weekends can be monotonous, so I try to add some excitement to my life by traveling. Many people often ask me, "Are you traveling again? Why do you travel so often? Don't you work? I wish I had the money to travel like you." "Are you going alone again? Why don't you invite me?" I would love to respond, "If you have a genuine desire to travel, money can be earned, and we all have the same amount of free time. The question is whether you are willing to spend money on travel like I do. You can certainly travel if you are not too concerned about spending money." However, I can only think about it in my head. Haha.
My recent trip to Krabi from February 11th to 13th, 2017, marked my first visit to this stunning province. Unlike most tourists who flock to Krabi for its pristine beaches, my focus was not on the typical seaside attractions.
The destination of my hike was Mount Hong, a majestic peak towering over the Andaman Sea in Krabi. This mountain, approximately 500 meters high, boasts a rich biodiversity and a breathtaking viewpoint that awaits intrepid adventurers. If you're an avid hiker seeking an exhilarating challenge, Mount Hong is the perfect destination for you. Let's embark on this thrilling journey together!
This photo was taken atop "Khao Ngon Nak," which serves as a reminder that "Krabi offers more than just beaches."
The 3.7-kilometer hike is not particularly long, but it feels much longer due to the steep inclines. The uphill climb is quite challenging, taking nearly 2.5 hours to reach the summit. The descent is slightly faster, with a roundtrip time of approximately 4 hours.
The time it takes to hike to the summit depends on one's physical condition. Those who are physically fit will take less time, while those who are not as fit will take longer. Personally, as an avid hiker, I was able to complete the hike in a relatively short time.
Krabi is not just about the sea. Taking photos with the limestone mountains on the side of the road in Krabi town is also amazing.
As a first-time visitor to Krabi, I was unsure of the city's central location. Naturally, I assumed it would be within the city limits. Consequently, I took a bus to Krabi Town, rented a motorbike, and set off for my destination. Accompanied by a friend, we stocked up on supplies for our camping trip on the mountain. However,...
My initial plan was to camp on Khao Hngon Nak, but when I informed the park ranger, my heart sank. His response: "The National Park has closed the mountain for camping." I could only utter, "What?! I came here specifically for this!" It felt like my dream had shattered.
After discussing with my friends, we decided to focus on the hike first, as we hadn't booked any accommodation. We sorted through our belongings, leaving the non-essentials like tents, extra food, and some clothes with the park rangers. We then packed only the essentials: water, cameras, phones, tripods, and a waterproof bag.
The journey into the forest begins with a welcoming rain, making the climb up the mountain cool and refreshing. (It's getting cold!)
Prepared and ready, we started walking at 12:30 p.m. After about 10 minutes, we encountered a surprise: "rain". It rained for a long time. At first, we discussed with our friends whether we should turn back, but we decided to continue despite the heavy rain.
Strolling leisurely through the rain, snapping photos as I go. On my way up, I inevitably encountered fellow hikers, mostly foreigners, whom I greeted with a friendly "Hi" and a smile.
The view from the mountain is breathtaking, as I told you. Let's jump! Even though I'm tired, I can still jump. 555+
As I approached my destination, breathtaking views unfolded before me, erasing any trace of fatigue. The journey was well worth it, offering a visual feast for nature enthusiasts like myself. The experience was truly extraordinary, leaving me with a profound sense of joy and contentment.
Continuing on, we encountered stunning views and numerous photo opportunities. This rock formation is quite high; I wonder if anyone has climbed it for a photo like this. Haha!
The more crazy and daring people like me who like to stand on the edge of cliffs and high, strange rocks, the more excited and thrilled I feel just seeing it. I want to keep all the beauty in my memory. I'm totally in love with nature! 555+
The individual expresses a fondness for the color green and a sense of happiness when surrounded by nature.
The breathtaking 360-degree view from the mountaintop filled me with an overwhelming sense of joy and satisfaction, making the arduous trek through the rain completely worthwhile.
As mentioned, Krabi offers more than just stunning beaches. Venture beyond the coast and explore the captivating mountains, and you might find yourself enchanted by their beauty.
This is what they call the "Naga Crest", the protruding rock that is the "highlight of the Naga Crest". Don't be afraid to sit down and take a picture. Once you're here, you have to take a picture as a souvenir, otherwise they say you haven't reached the "peak of the Naga Crest".
Others cautiously approached the ridge, fearing a fall, but I was excited to experience the thrill of the height and rushed straight to the edge. 555
The "must-visit" spot at Khao Hong is the iconic photo angle that everyone captures. The sitting position isn't too scary, allowing for relaxed photo-taking. There's even a rope for those with a fear of heights, although I barely used it!

Exhausted, we took a break to admire the stunning scenery before continuing our descent and searching for lodging. We opted not to stay in Ao Nang but instead rode our motorbikes back into town to find a place to sleep. Honestly, I'm perplexed as to why we didn't look for lodging near Ao Nang. We wasted a significant amount of time driving back and forth. After finding a place to rest and recharge, we decided to postpone our plans for the next day until later.
Good morning. Where should I go today? I'll have to sleep at the airport tonight because my flight leaves at 6:00 AM tomorrow. I left my luggage at the motorbike rental shop because I have to return the motorbike in the evening.
Upon arriving at Ao Nang, we decided to look for a tour. Initially, we considered kayaking, but the tour operator suggested a snorkeling trip to see the coral reefs for an additional 300 baht. We agreed and purchased the tour, which departed in the afternoon. With half a day to spare, we decided to explore the area on a motorbike and ended up at Noppharat Thara Beach.
Strolling along the beach, we were captivated by the crystal-clear water and decided to take a dip. We waded across the shallows to a nearby islet.
The water was so refreshing, but the sun was also very strong. I didn't have any sunscreen, haha.
It's noon, time to go on a coral diving trip. This will be my second diving trip in my life. I have very high expectations because Krabi is famous for its beautiful sea.
Board a long-tail boat and then transfer to a ferry.
The first stop was Talay Waek. Upon arrival, we were overwhelmed by the sheer number of people. The crowd was so dense that it was impossible to appreciate the beauty of the place. We had to search for a suitable angle to take photos.
The boat trip was cut short when the water level unexpectedly dropped, causing the boat to get stuck on a rock. The guide then had to transfer the group to a long-tail boat, which took them to a ferry.
Fortunately, I was able to wade through the water and board the boat first because I am a go-getter. However, many people are still stranded on the island. It is not easy to film people boarding the ferry. In conclusion, today's trip was canceled due to this unexpected problem. There was a lot of drama today, including drama on the boat, because there were many Thai and foreign tourists on board.
After boarding the ferry, there was nothing we could do but wait for everyone to return. So, we decided to enjoy the sunset on the boat. It was a truly breathtaking sunset, one that I doubt anyone would believe if I told them it was already past 8 pm by the time we managed to get everyone back on board. We then returned to shore, with some people heading to Railay Beach and the majority returning to Ao Nang. Upon reaching the shore, we received a refund for the tour, as the company decided to reimburse everyone who participated in the trip.
He then rode the motorbike back into town to return it and then found a car to take him to Krabi Airport. The end of the trip. :)
In conclusion, I would like to say that "Southern people are very kind. I am impressed by all the southern people I have met."
