Having visited Koh Samet several years ago while working in Bangkok, I felt the urge to return. Now working closer to the capital, but with limited vacation days, a weekend trip seemed like the perfect solution. This time, we embarked on a road trip in my trusty black Mazda 2, picking up two passengers at Ayutthaya Railway Station and two more at MTU Thonburi Klong 6. With our GPS set, we headed straight for Sri Ban Phe Pier.

The journey took approximately 3.5 hours to reach Sri Ban Phe Pier. After preparing our luggage and bags, we parked our car and walked to the ticket booth to purchase tickets for the ferry to Koh Samet. The round-trip ticket cost 100 baht, and the parking fee was separate, though I cannot recall the exact price. It was likely no more than 150 baht per night. We waited for a short while before the ferry departed.

While waiting, we took photos of the surrounding atmosphere. This is the group of people who joined us on this trip.

Approximately 30-40 minutes later, you will arrive at the pier in front of the checkpoint on Koh Samet. You will easily recognize it by the butterflyfish waiting to welcome you at the pier. Before disembarking, there is a landing fee of 10 baht per person.

Our accommodation was at Bann Bua Talay, which is not far from the pier. It's within walking distance, and the price was reasonable. I booked it through http://www.booking.com. The atmosphere was great. The rooms had exposed concrete walls, creating an airy feel. Stylish picture frames adorned the walls, and the bed and bedding were tastefully coordinated. It made me want to have a house like this! I could easily stay in the room all day. Oh, and the owner was very friendly. They mentioned that guests can have barbecues in the front yard. If you're interested, feel free to contact them.

Retro again.

We greatly admire this photograph of a puppy hugging a pillow.

There is a red bicycle in front of the house.

After that, we decided to go see the sea. However, there are no pictures of the sea. I forgot to mention that before we arrived at our accommodation, we passed by a small, chic-looking cafe. We planned to come back and take some pictures at this cafe, and we did.

The weather has cooled down quickly. Let's go back to take a shower and then relax by the sea. What should we do? Well, the highlight activity here is watching the bonfire. I think any shop will do, the atmosphere is pretty much the same.

The fire baton twirling has begun.

And then the real thing came, beautiful indeed. Fire baton twirling at Koh Samet.

After a quick nap, it was morning again. We showered, got dressed, packed our things, and prepared to return to our normal routine. Before leaving, we stopped to take some photos at Ao Luk Yon. There is a bridge that stretches out into the sea, and there are bungalows and camping areas to accommodate tourists. And with that, we were off!

And so we waved goodbye, finally parting ways with Samet. Farewell, butterfly of the sea. Until next time, when we'll drive up and take a boat to visit you again on a lazy Saturday or Sunday. This trip has been fulfilling, and we're ready to return to our lives now. Thank you.

After driving back, I saw a review of Thung Prang Thong, which looked interesting, so I stopped by to capture the atmosphere for you all to see. It's great, the atmosphere is very good, cool, comfortable, and very relaxing.

When you are full with everything in life, do not forget to take care of yourself and the people around you. Find opportunities to spend time with them. Sometimes, being together more will make us understand each other better as well.
