Living the good life in Vang Vieng, where the fun never stops.
Vang Vieng was once a mere stopover for travelers en route to Luang Prabang. Today, however, Vang Vieng has become a destination in its own right.

Vang Vieng has its own charm… those who want to chill can do so, and those who want to have fun can do so to the fullest.
Vang Vieng boasts the scenic Song River and a plethora of riverside resorts catering to both luxury and budget travelers.
There are wooden bridges, concrete bridges, and steel bridges (not the kind used to sell pirated games or CDs) available for crossing. You can walk or ride a motorbike across them. Some bridges have tolls.
Wiang Tha Rara Resort is a beautiful place in the countryside.
Roti shops are ubiquitous, found on almost every street corner and roadside, offering similar menus of roti and blended fruit juices.
Tourists from all over the world gather here, including Thailand, China, Korea, Japan, America, and European countries. It's a truly diverse and lively place.
There are many adventure activities available, including... It's... amazing.
To visit Vang Vieng, you must have a passport. This is a non-negotiable requirement. Without a passport, you will not be able to enter the country.
This money, even if you don't have it, you can still go. Borrow from a friend first and then pay it back slowly. When he's not looking, secretly forget to return it... Over there, you can use both Thai and Lao money. 1 Thai baht is equal to 235 Lao kip. This was when we went, so you don't need to exchange a lot. Just bring enough for snacks. The rest, you can use Thai money.
Be open to new experiences that you might not expect. Don't expect things to be a certain way. We've been there twice, and everything is different. Just let your life flow with the "weng wieng" and that's enough.
How to get to Vang Vieng: Take a bus or van from Nong Khai, Thailand to the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge. Once you have crossed the border, you can take a taxi or tuk-tuk to Vang Vieng. The journey takes about 3-4 hours.
We opted to fly to Udon Thani and then take a car from the airport to the border for 200 baht. Upon reaching the border, we hired a van for a roundtrip to Vang Vieng for 6,000 baht. The van could accommodate 10 people, but there were only five of us, making for a comfortable ride. If the van had been full, it might have been a bit cramped.
There is a long bus ride from Udon Thani Airport to Vang Vieng, taking about 7-8 hours. However, I would not recommend it as it is too long and not private.
There are other ways to get there, such as by train, bus, private car, or even by bicycle.
It took almost 4 hours from the Nong Khai border crossing. It would have been great if I could have slept on the bus, but... no way, I couldn't even nap. We left around noon and arrived a little after 4 pm. The road conditions were not very good.
Upon arriving in Vang Vieng, one can indulge in a leisurely experience by simply relaxing by the river, observing the sky, birds, boats, and mountains, embracing a tranquil lifestyle.
CKB is the place to be for fun... Cave tubing, kayaking, and jumping into the Blue Lagoon will burn over 800 calories in a single day.
Alternatively, rent a motorbike and explore the vast array of attractions in Vang Vieng and its surrounding areas.
Choose the style you prefer, or if you have ample time, indulge in everything to get the most value for your money.
That's about it, right? The rest can be seen in the accompanying pictures. See you again, right?
