Nestled amidst towering mountains, a small village serves as the headwaters of Khao Luang, the highest peak in the southern region. The meandering streams that flow through the village create a harmonious landscape of natural beauty. Once known as "Baan Khun Nam," the village is now renowned as Khao Luang National Park.

I have a story to tell from Khao Luang, a tale of friendship and adventure among fellow travelers...

Enjoy the lighthearted atmosphere. Stay tuned for more!

That morning in Khao Wong, the three of us woke up earlier than usual to breathe in the best morning air in Thailand. The air was cool and pleasant. The previous evening, it had rained heavily. Here in southern Thailand, it's eight parts rain to four parts sunshine. If you come here, you're bound to encounter rain.
After waking up, we were hungry, so we decided to look for something to eat. The three of us walked around the morning market near the canal bank, looking for a kopitiam. The weather was excellent, and there weren't many people around because we chose to come on a weekday. If it were a Saturday or Sunday, the place would be packed...

We found a shop with a table and ordered some tea and Kopi, feeling free to relax. We could also buy food and bring it into the shop to eat. Everyone was wandering around, enjoying the lively morning market. Some people rode motorbikes in their pajamas to grab a bite to eat, while others cycled in groups or solo. The atmosphere was great.
We bought some snacks, including Ja Ko Y, sticky rice with grilled coconut, sticky rice with custard, and sticky rice with shrimp. We sat down to enjoy our food and admire the view of the canal. ...

"Where did you buy that sticky rice with custard?" The Southern Thai accent from the next table was the first conversation between the two breakfast tables sitting next to each other.

Three people arrived, a father, a mother, and their child. The parents appeared to be in their early 40s, while the child was in elementary school. The mother initiated the conversation.

"I'm far away, I've walked a long way, I'm tired, I'm not hungry, I bought a lot." I replied, handing him a new pack of sticky rice with mango.

"No problem, thank you very much. Where are you? I'll walk over and buy it myself."

"No problem, take a bite and see if it's delicious."

"Thank you."

The man accepted the offering and passed it on to his son, who seemed eager to try it. It was a heartwarming sight.

After a while, we started a proper conversation, asking each other about our lives. He came from Khanom and arrived last night. He invited us to explore the area, mentioning the abundance of attractions in Khanom. After a long chat, he excused himself and we said our goodbyes, expressing our gratitude.

Just as we were about to leave the shop, the owner informed us that the man who had accepted the sticky rice with custard from us had already paid for our kopi. Out of courtesy, we insisted that it wasn't necessary, but it was too late.

Words of appreciation flowed freely from both sides before we finally parted ways.

We have never met before...

And we still don't know each other...

Yet, we are grateful for having met, even for a fleeting moment...

The heartwarming stories of travelers who encounter strangers on their journeys, sometimes leading to beautiful, authentic connections.

The price of one pack of sticky rice with mango and three cups of coffee is not much, but what we get in return is kindness, a story of sharing. I think it's really valuable.

It may be a very ordinary story for some people, but for me it was very, very good...

I had a wonderful time relaxing by the pool for a while before returning to my accommodation. I went for a swim in the crystal-clear water in front of my lodging, which was refreshingly cool. It was a moment of pure bliss.

Key Ri Woong...wonderful. I returned with happiness in both body and mind. And I will definitely go back again....
