This review is from 2015. I had the opportunity to search for accommodation in Bangkok on Airbnb. I needed to do some business in the Ari area, so I came across The Yard Bangkok. I had never heard of it before, so I did some research and found out that it was a newly opened hostel not far from the Ari BTS station. It was located in Soi Ratchakhru. I contacted the hostel and found out that they were having a soft opening, so the accommodation was not 100% ready. This meant that I was able to get a special price. I couldn't miss out on that, so I decided to give it a try.
The first image that caught my eye on Airbnb was a photo of a cream-colored shipping container set against the green of the lawn. Wow, that's eye-catching! But let me warn you, the bathrooms are shared here. I thought long and hard about it, but I decided to go for it anyway. It was newly opened, so it wouldn't be old yet - (which is obvious, of course). Actually, this place has both dorm beds and private rooms.
We opted for a private stay. Let's not waste any time and head straight to the pictures.
Note: Photographed and edited on an iPad. Apologies for the lack of clarity.
Upon entering from the front of the house, the hotel's entrance is discreetly tucked away. Be greeted by a friendly feline companion.
This sign says "The Yard," which is the name of a house owned by a relative. It is a hotel.
Upon entering the accommodation area, you will be greeted by this tranquil corner, a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle outside. It feels like stepping into another world.
As I scanned the surroundings, the hostel owner and the staff appeared with cheerful greetings, as if welcoming relatives. It was a warm welcome from the moment I stepped in, and the accommodation looked stylish to boot.
This is the front desk area for check-in and check-out. Computers are also available for use.
A stylish corner with intricate details that will keep you captivated. It's easy to forget you're in Bangkok here.
This is the entrance to our room. We use a key card system here, which feels safe, convenient, and easy to use.
The hotel provides a map with its location marked, making it convenient for tourists unfamiliar with the area. They can simply show the map to a taxi driver or someone who can provide directions. This demonstrates the hotel's attention to detail.
The private room we selected was a mini-sized room, which was just the right size. It had a balcony with a view of the outside, so it didn't feel cramped even though the room wasn't very large. There may not have been a TV, but that wasn't a problem for modern travelers who already have smartphones.
At the head of the bed, there is a small table with a water bottle. The water bottle was given to us by the staff during check-in and can be refilled at any time.
Take a short break from your journey on a comfortable bed.
Though our shoe sizes differ, our hearts beat as one. 555
Note: Please remember to bring your own towels, as they are not provided here for rent like in most hotels. We have brought two towels for ourselves, as we did not bring any.
While my partner worked in the room, I took a walk around to enjoy the view and capture some photos to share with you all.
This place has a living room, which is a shared space. However, when we visited, it was completely private.
As we were the only two customers that day, the experience felt like we were casually strolling through a friend's house.
In addition, there is a mini-kitchen equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, and hot and cold water dispenser, which feels more complete than staying in a typical guesthouse.
Emerging from the kitchen, I encountered this creature. The lighting was beautiful, so I captured it in a photograph.
The shared bathroom was surprisingly comfortable. Initially, I was hesitant, wondering if anyone would dare use it and if it would be scary. However, upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised. The bathroom was close to my room, clean, and modern, even equipped with hairdryers. It felt much better than I had anticipated, similar to using the bathroom at a relative's or friend's house. The bathrooms were clearly marked for men and women, alleviating any concerns I had about safety or privacy.
Though it may seem a bit cramped, we're here to shower, not play around.
The Yard also features unique design elements that incorporate Thai influences, creating a visually striking and culturally immersive experience.
We requested a room on the second floor for some privacy, so we walked down to check the back of the room.
The space is adorned with charming corners, offering a tranquil and cozy atmosphere that makes you forget the hustle and bustle of Bangkok.
This place also has a mini bar. We can come down here to have a drink and chat with the friendly staff.
At the bar, there were film cameras available for guests to take photos. The developed photos will be shared on The Yard's page.
The details of the accommodation captivated us, leaving us yearning for a return visit.
It is understood that there will be a small, lovely event on February 25th (2015). Those who are not staying at the hotel are welcome to come and say hello to The Yard.
This review serves as a heartfelt expression of gratitude to the staff at The Yard for their warm welcome, attentive care, and dedication to our well-being.
The next morning, we had a photoshoot scheduled, so we had to get up early to do our makeup. When we got back, we felt dizzy, like we were hungry. The staff kindly brought us rice porridge and fruit, which helped us feel better. We truly felt like family. I don't know if my review sounds exaggerated, but I encourage everyone to experience it for themselves. As I checked out, I thought to myself that whenever I return to Bangkok, I will definitely visit The Yard again.
Review completed. Yay!
