Have you ever fallen in love with a meal? What would it be like? How delicious would the food have to be? How good would the atmosphere have to be? Or how much would you have to love the person you're eating with? I think I've found the answer. This meal made me smile so wide.

Last July, my partner and I had the opportunity to change the atmosphere of our dining experience (again) by walking into a nice, upscale hotel. Our destination was the Amari Watergate Hotel in Pratunam, a place I've been walking past since I was a teenager. This was my first time experiencing the coolness inside.

This buffet, which we are having for lunch, is called Amayna Sunday Brunch. As the name suggests, it is a brunch (Breakfast + Lunch) served every Sunday from 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM, for three and a half hours, at the Amayna Food Gallery restaurant located on the 4th floor of the hotel. You can enter the lobby and take the elevator directly to the restaurant.

The ambiance of Amaya Food Gallery is undeniably impressive. The spacious interior offers a variety of seating options, catering to diverse preferences. Diners can opt for tables near the food line for convenient access or choose aesthetically pleasing corners decorated in a gallery style, ideal for those who enjoy capturing stylish photos.

Before exploring the full range of culinary delights, it's worth noting the highlight of the Sunday Brunch at Amari Watergate Hotel: a half-portion of Maine lobster per person. This succulent crustacean, hailing from the state of Maine in the United States, can be prepared in your choice of three styles: grilled, baked with cheese, or stewed.

We would like to order the cheese-baked pizza, half for each of us. It smells so cheesy!

This meal provided new knowledge that lobsters are not actually spiny lobsters, as I had always understood. The most obvious difference is their shape. Lobsters have black and mottled shells with large claws, while the spiny lobsters we are more familiar with do not have claws. (I had to check Google Images to see that this was true.)

A key difference is that lobsters are notoriously difficult to farm, necessitating their capture from the wild. The largest lobster source is the state of Maine in the United States. In contrast, spiny lobsters can be sourced from both wild and farmed populations. Notably, Thailand is a significant producer of farmed spiny lobsters.

Let's move on to other food lines. Another highlight of Amaya Sunday Brunch is the seafood on ice. Just looking at it, you have to swallow your saliva because it is so full. The oysters are the most prominent, with two varieties: Korean oysters and French oysters.

Alaskan king crabs are nearby. Wow... They are huge! Feel free to choose whichever part you like.

Next up, we have blue crabs and mantis shrimps. And if you move a little to the left, you'll find a paradise for shrimp lovers, with both tiger prawns and river prawns. We guarantee their freshness and sweetness.

The seafood on ice line-up concludes with plump New Zealand mussels, their sight alone is enough to make your mouth water.

Our seafood on ice platter was visually stunning and luxurious. The lobster claws were particularly impressive, with succulent and satisfying meat.

In addition to seafood on ice, there is also grilled or barbecue seafood. You can order directly at the grill kitchen. River prawns, crabs, salmon, and squid are all available to tantalize your taste buds. Personally, I prefer the grilled option.

While grilled seafood is not my top choice, I usually prefer beef. Fortunately, this restaurant offers both tenderloin and sirloin. I often hear the question of which cut is better, but I can't say for sure. As long as it's beef, I'll devour it. Therefore, I ordered a combo platter, cooked to medium-rare perfection.

Japanese food such as sushi, raw fish, and seaweed salad are located next to the seafood line. The salmon and tuna are very fresh.

Thai street food gets a chic makeover at this restaurant, offering a variety of dishes like papaya salad, spicy minced pork salad, grilled pork neck, grilled meatballs, fried chicken wings, pad thai, chicken rice, and tom yum soup. The concept playfully reimagines the street food scene of Pratunam district, elevating the experience with enhanced quality and hygiene while retaining the authentic flavors.

Adjacent to the main dining area is a modest Chinese kitchen offering a selection of dim sum, roasted duck, char siu, and suckling pig. While the restaurant primarily focuses on seafood, these additional options provide a diverse range of culinary choices.

In Indian cuisine, naan and various curries are also guaranteed to be delicious when served hot, as Amari Watergate Hotel is known for its Indian cuisine.

Italian cuisine offers a wide variety of dishes, including pizzas and pastas. Thin-crust pizzas are a personal favorite, and I indulged in several slices. For pasta, I opted for spaghetti and fusilli, requesting the chef to prepare them fresh. Diners can choose their preferred sauce, such as meat, tomato, or carbonara.

Savoring delicious food and a pleasant ambiance, I found myself wandering between the various culinary stations, sampling a bit from each. While most guests seemed drawn to the seafood selection, including my companion, I gravitated towards the grilled meats, Italian dishes, and Thai cuisine. It was a truly diverse and satisfying culinary experience.

After a satisfying meal, indulge in a delightful selection of sweet treats. The dessert menu offers a tempting array of options, from Western-style cakes to traditional Thai sweets like Lod Chong, assorted fruits in syrup, and Tao Tiew. Even with a full stomach, the allure of these delectable desserts is irresistible, prompting you to savor a small portion of each.

Hours may pass, and my stomach may rumble for more food, but one thing that will linger is the wide smiles of my companion as she savored the lobster, Alaskan king crab, oysters, and other delicacies she loves.

This is why I love this meal and Amaya Sunday Brunch so much.
