Pay homage to the brave heroes of Sing Buri.
Today, Adipacha will pay respects to the brave heroes at the shrine in Sing Buri.
When mentioning the name of Sing Buri province, what immediately comes to Adi's mind is the bravery of the villagers of Bang Rachan who fought against the Burmese army. This trip, we did not miss the opportunity to pay our respects at the Bang Rachan Shrine at Wat Pho Khao Ton. We also took a walk through the Bang Rachan Retro Market, which was a highlight of the trip.
Sing Buri is a province located near Bangkok, only a 1.5-hour drive away. Situated on the central plains, Sing Buri is traversed by the Chao Phraya River. Its proximity to Bangkok and convenient access via the Asian Highway make it an easily accessible destination. Sing Buri boasts a wealth of tourist attractions, including historical sites, stunning temples, and delectable culinary delights. The must-try dish is the "Pla Chon Mae La," a local specialty featuring snakehead fish renowned for its firm and flavorful flesh. Let's embark on a journey to explore the captivating destinations of Sing Buri:
1. Wat Pikul Thong
Pikul Thong Temple is located in Wihan Daeng Subdistrict, approximately 16 kilometers from the city center and 9 kilometers from Wat Phra Non Chaksi, Worawihan Temple. It is commonly known among locals as Wat Luang Pho Pae (Phra Thep Singhaburajaracharn).
Wat Pikut Thong houses the largest Buddha statue in the posture of bestowing blessings in Thailand, known as Phra Phuttha Suwannamongkhon Mahamuni or Luang Pho Yai. The statue measures 11 wa 2 sok 7 inches in width and 21 wa 1 kub 3 inches in height.
It is recommended to visit Wat Pikulthong in the morning to take beautiful pictures with the Phra Phuttha Suwannamongkhon Mahamuni Buddha statue. If you visit in the afternoon, the light will be behind the statue, making it difficult to take good pictures.
Let's pay respect to the Buddha and ask for blessings for good fortune.
Lord Ganesha, the deity of success, is a reinforced concrete statue with a lap width of 9 cubits. It is located in the middle of the pond on the north side of the Great Buddha.
The Pikul Thong Temple is divided into two sections by a road. After paying respects to the Big Buddha statue, we will cross the road to pay respects to the wax statue of Luang Pho Pae, which is located on the other side.
"Phra Dhammuni" or better known as Luang Pho Pae Khemangaro was the former abbot of Wat Pikulthong, who made great contributions to the people of Singburi, earning him the title of "God of the Noi River Basin." Although he passed away almost 20 years ago, he is still revered and remembered by the people.
The Pikul Thong Temple continues to enshrine the remains of Luang Pho Pae, allowing devotees and Buddhists to pay their respects and worship.
A billion corpses, wax statues and images of Luang Pho Pae Khemangaro, and wreaths from members of the royal family, etc.

2. Wat Pho Khao Ton
The Wat Pho Kaeo Ton, also known as Wat Sa Ma Daeng, is located in Ban Bang Rachan, Khai Bang Rachan District, opposite the Bang Rachan Monument. Built during the Ayutthaya period, the temple holds historical significance. In 1765, villagers used this area to fiercely resist the Burmese invasion of Ayutthaya. The temple's resident monk, Phra Ajarn Thammachote, was renowned for his powerful incantations and was highly respected by the villagers. The temple served as a spiritual center for the Bang Rachan people during their fight against the Burmese. After the fall of Bang Rachan, the temple was abandoned and fell into disrepair. During the Rattanakosin period, around 1941, as more people settled in the area, Wat Sa Ma Daeng was restored and renovated. It was elevated to the status of a temple with resident monks and was renamed "Wat Pho Kaeo Ton."
Phra Ajahn Thammachote Vihara
A steady stream of people have been visiting to pay their respects to Venerable Phra Ajarn Thammachote.
Those who have their wishes granted after making a prayer at the shrine will come back to offer thanks by carrying buckets of water to pour into the sacred well.
