Hello.
After a five-month hiatus from travel reviews, I'm back with an exciting activity: surfing!
On that day, I don't know what came over me, but I wanted to visit a place I had never been to or hadn't been to in a long time. I wanted to do something I had never done before, especially water sports, because I love playing in the water and the sea.
...and destiny led us to the Monkey Dive Hostel Khaolak surf package with accommodation. We haven't been to Phang Nga in a long time, and we've never surfed before. This was the perfect fit for us...
Package like this.
- 1-hour surfing lesson (instructor from Memories beach bar)
- 1 night's accommodation in a mixed or female-only dorm at Monkey Dive Hostel
- Roundtrip transportation from hotel to Memories beach (car) from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
The price is 1,550 baht per person, but we will stay for 3 days and 2 nights, so we just need to pay extra for the room.
Deposit paid, waiting for the travel date~~
Upon arrival at Monkey Dive Hostel Khaolak, the atmosphere was rather quiet, as it was still the low season (this trip was in early September). It was peaceful and private.
The first day was uneventful. After a long 6-7 hour drive from Hat Yai, we arrived in the late afternoon and decided to take a walk on Nang Thong Beach.
On the morning of the 2nd, before the afternoon surf lesson, I visited the T 813 boat memorial. The boat was swept inland by the tsunami from the coast, approximately 2 kilometers away.
Next, head to Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park, where Thai nationals pay a 20 baht entrance fee to relax on the beach or swim in the waters of Khao Lak.
As the time approaches, return to the hostel to change clothes and head to Memories Beach Bar. You can ask the hostel staff for directions.
The beach is quite far and deep from the main road. As we turned into the path, winding through the forest, we were amazed by the sight. The red dirt road was full of potholes, and the beach was very deep. However, this was not a problem, as the view of the tall pine trees along the way made us forget the hardship. The forest view was stunning, incredibly natural. We never thought we would see anything like this. On the way back at night, we saw fireflies.
**Recommendation:** It is not advisable to ride a motorcycle alone, especially at night, as the return journey is very dark and there are no lights along the way.
Memories Beach Bar is a bar with a great atmosphere and delicious food.
This beach is incredibly long with large waves and few people, making it an ideal location for beginner surfers.

The afternoon session began with a land-based lesson, where participants learned about the board, how to get on it, how to stand, and how to paddle. They then took to the water to put their newfound skills into practice.
Before attending the class, it is highly recommended to engage in physical exercise at least two weeks in advance. This is due to the significant amount of energy required, particularly for the arms, which will be used extensively for paddling, potentially leading to fatigue.
Learners should have swimming skills, not be afraid of water, and avoid wearing bikinis while surfing... they will definitely come off, haha.

Let's carry the board into the water! I can't hold it by my side because my arms are short. Hahaha.
The practical training has begun, with Teacher N'Man closely supervising and guiding the students.
After a tiring surf session, relax and unwind at the beach bar.
The sunset was stunning today, so I decided to do some yoga poses on the beach.
For our first surfing experience, we absolutely loved it. We enjoyed everything, from the location to the atmosphere.
The next day, we were hooked and returned in the evening to rent a board for 3 hours at 300 baht. If we have the chance, we will definitely go back and play again.
