...Next, we will visit the Ban Mae Mai Homestay Thai House Tourism Community in Bang Pla Ma District, Suphan Buri Province. This community will take us back in time to the traditional Thai way of life and allow us to experience the authentic lifestyle of the villagers. The unique aspect of this village is that all of the homestays are traditional Thai houses. There is no other community that offers an all-Thai house homestay experience like this. Staying overnight at the Ban Mae Mai Homestay Thai House Tourism Community is not just about sleeping and leaving. When you arrive at this village, there are many fun activities and learning experiences waiting for you! For example, you can visit four adjacent Thai houses! Since these are traditional Thai houses, they were built close together as extended families, so close that you can walk from one house to another. The roofs even touch each other. Another activity is visiting the coconut fiber broom workshop, which is a famous product of this village. They say that these brooms are so special that they are guaranteed to last for ten years. If you enjoy beautiful handicrafts, the community also has a water hyacinth weaving group where you can try your hand at weaving, learn the craft, or simply shop for beautiful products. But if you are a foodie, then you must try making salai, a traditional Thai dessert, while you are in Suphan Buri. You can make it fresh and eat it right there. There is also the auspicious khai nok krasae dessert, a local specialty. If you want to relax, you can take a boat ride on the Tha Chin River, also known as the Suphan River, and observe the daily life of the villagers on both sides of the river. You can also see the kalong fruit bat and the openbill stork. If you are still not satisfied, you can take a ride on an e-tan to enjoy the view of the hundred-year-old palm trees, a famous landmark of this village. You can have a picnic and barbecue under the palm trees while enjoying the cool breeze and the view of the rice fields... It's so relaxing, you'll want to stay forever.

This is Mae Rabep's Thai house where we will sleep tonight... My first time sleeping in a Thai house, I'm so excited! I've been to Thai houses before, but they were always just for show, not for actually staying in like this...

The traditional Thai houses here are all ancient, each belonging to a different family. Some may have been extended, but the charm of the traditional Thai house remains.

A cluster of four traditional Thai houses! I never imagined such a dwelling existed. In my mind, Thai houses were always solitary structures. However, these houses are connected, allowing for seamless movement between them. This eliminates the need for constant ascents and descents, as most of the neighboring houses are inhabited by relatives who form part of an extended family.

Visit the production of coconut leaf brooms, made one handle at a time, and guaranteed to last for 10 years.

This broom is so durable that it can be used until your child is fully grown. It is both practical and aesthetically pleasing.

Visit the Water Hyacinth Weaving Group, where you can observe, learn, and even participate in hands-on weaving activities. If crafting isn't your forte, you can simply purchase their beautiful creations, supporting the community in the process.

This adorable bag is incredibly affordable, priced at only 100 baht.

Upon arrival, we had to ask for the recipe. Oh, I mean, let's try making Salai dessert from Suphan Buri. Now I understand why it's so delicious. It takes a lot of effort to beat the dough until it's fluffy, and it's not done with an electric mixer. It's all human power...

The steaming process is still done using a charcoal stove. Once cooked, the food is eaten immediately, hot, fragrant, and delicious.

Another dessert we tried was the "Khai Nok Krasa," an auspicious dessert made from jelly, "Thong Yot" (a type of Thai sweetmeat), and duck eggs used as molds. The name "Khai Nok Krasa" comes from the belief that the sarus crane is a monogamous bird, hence its popularity as a wedding dessert.

Warm salali and fresh bird's egg cookies, straight from the oven!....

The activities here are not over yet. Take a boat trip along the Tha Chin River or the Suphan River for about 2 kilometers. Along the way, you will encounter the way of life of the villagers and the river, including people fishing, children jumping into the water to play, and even fruit bats and open-billed storks living there.

Our boat trip concludes at Bang Len Temple, also known as Ko Kaeo Wang Duen Temple.

The temple houses a pavilion containing statues of Luang Pho Khai and Luang Pho Thongyod, as well as various antique artifacts for visitors to admire.

Another exciting and enjoyable activity here is riding a local "e-taen" truck to admire the view of hundreds of palm trees. You can choose to ride the "e-taen" during the cool evening or cycle through the morning atmosphere.

Enjoy a leisurely drive or a scenic walk, taking in the breathtaking views of the rice fields. As the harvest season ends, the fields transform into a watery expanse, reflecting the hundreds of palm trees and the tranquil waters. The beauty of the landscape is truly captivating.

Prepare your hats and pants...

Let's grill some shrimp and enjoy the riverside. You can bring your own shrimp or let the resort prepare them for you, but please let us know in advance.

Savor the freshest grilled prawns with palm fruit in syrup under the shade of a palm tree, while enjoying the cool breeze on a traditional Thai oxcart. A truly unique and delightful experience.

The homestay offers a wide variety of delicious food. This community is famous for raising silver barb fish. If we are lucky, we may get to see how they are raised and caught. But if we are even luckier, we will get to eat freshly fried silver barb fish. We can also discuss the menu with the accommodation and let them know what we would like to eat or not eat. The owners are very kind and will make sure we have plenty of delicious food to enjoy.

Enjoy a relaxed meal in the garden in front of the house, homestay style.

After a hard day of activity, if you're feeling sore and stiff, you can call a massage therapist to come to your house. A two-hour massage costs 300 baht. If you like deep tissue massage and acupressure, you should definitely try this!

Our first experience staying at a traditional Thai homestay has come to an end, but it certainly won't be our last. If the opportunity arises, we will definitely return. We would like to express our gratitude to the Chuenjai Thailand team and the homestay hosts for providing us with an unforgettable experience of local life at the Bang Mae Ma Homestay. If you're interested in following in our footsteps, be sure to visit this charming community.

Feel free to contact the community at 089-981-5046 or 081-198-7401. You'll be impressed by the charm of this place.
