Driven by an insatiable wanderlust, we embarked on a spontaneous trip to Surat Thani and Koh Phangan. Our group of six meticulously planned the itinerary, dividing responsibilities for booking flights, securing accommodations, and crafting a daily schedule. With meticulous attention to detail, we ensured that every essential item was packed, from cameras and chargers to speakers and essentials. Our excitement reached a fever pitch as we prepared for our adventure.

Day 1

- I started by checking the train schedule of the State Railway of Thailand. Luckily, my house is near Bang Sue, so I could just walk there to buy the ticket. Haha! I booked a sleeper train ticket for about 800 baht. The train departs at 5:00 PM from Bang Sue Station.

- The gang that will share the fate of going to the island this time.

  • Taking photos of the scenery while riding.

As dusk settles, passengers prepare for slumber. Initially, the seats serve as their resting place. Around 6 pm, attendants inquire about lowering the beds. The beds come equipped with sheets, pillows, blankets, and a small lamp. Those sleeping on the upper bunk experience a thrill, as the height is considerable and there are no guardrails, only a safety belt to prevent falls. Rolling over in your sleep could send you tumbling down. Climbing back up is no easy feat, making one reluctant to descend.

On the train, there is a dining car that sells food. We ordered around 10 pm, and the kitchen was about to close. We were the last table there, which gave it a unique atmosphere. However, be warned: it's incredibly windy! Sitting by the window, my omelet almost flew away. I had to hold it down with a fork. The meal was a set menu for 100 baht, which included rice with omelet, tom yum soup, orange juice, and banana cake.

DAY 2

We arrived at Surat Thani station around 4:00 AM, almost 5:00 AM. It was very dark, but luckily the bus station was already open. We decided to wait for a van to take us to Donsak Pier. The fare was less than 200 baht, and it took less than an hour to reach the pier. The ferry departed at 6:00 AM, so we took the opportunity to grab some breakfast at 7-Eleven. It was convenient and easy.

Upon arriving at the pier, we purchased tickets to Koh Phangan for 210 baht per person. The ferry journey takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours.

  • This is the ferry we took to Koh Phangan! It's huge and impressive, but it's also very slow.

Upon nearing our destination, we contacted B52 Resort (https://www.b52resort.com/th-th) to arrange for pick-up at the pier. The resort offers various room types, and since we were traveling as a group, we opted for interconnected rooms at a cost of 1500 baht per night for a two-night stay.

  • Upon arrival, they quickly packed their belongings, changed into their swimsuits, and jumped into the pool!

  • Yoga for a short while, only for a short while. This person, hahahahahahaha.

Day 3

  • The 5 Islands 5555555555 Diving Event has begun, and it is truly magnificent.

  • A short boat ride later, my friend got seasick. Be sure to bring smelling salts and a bag!

- Using the lightness technique, levitating now. 1

- I found a fish! I don't know what kind it is, but it's colorful and very cute. The person next to me is a Rohingya who got lost, haha.

- What a stroke of luck! We found a blue fish. Everyone was surprised to see it.

- After that, there were people vomiting and dying!

  • Take a short break to rest your eyes.

  • This island offered a place to rest and eat, though its name remains unknown. The scenery was exceptional, providing ample opportunities for fashion shoots.

  • Let's go swimming after we eat! GO GO GO! 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️🏊‍♂️

  • Help!!! Stuck on an island lol 5555555555555 I'll tell you it's like it's close, but swimming from the boat is very tiring. And there are a lot of rocks below.

  • Just got on the boat, already tired.

- It's cold! Help!

- This is the last island we snorkeled at. In total, we visited 4 islands. We couldn't stop at one island because the current was too strong for the uncle to let us get off the boat.

  • We ended up taking a few light-hearted fashion photos on the boat, just one or two each. 55555555555 If you're bored, feel free to skip ahead!

- After diving that day, I fell asleep at 4pm. I was so tired! 5555555

Day 4

- Today is a chill day. I'm exhausted from yesterday's diving. My legs and arms are sunburned. I'm going to relax at the resort, lie down and listen to the waves. But I couldn't stay still for long. As soon as the evening came, I felt hungry. So we went to the market on the island to find something to eat and walk around.

  • After walking for a while, I asked the locals if there were any other interesting places to visit. They told me about Lhin Beach, where they often hold foam parties, but there wasn't one at that time. However, there were some restaurants there, and I was really hungry, so I hired a motorbike taxi for 1,000 baht round trip to take me there. I asked the driver to drop me off at the beach, but he said there weren't many restaurants there and suggested I go to his sister's restaurant, Nong View, which was delicious and conveniently located on the way to the beach.

  • I overestimated my appetite and ordered too much. I couldn't finish it all, so I had to take it home and eat it the next morning. 55555555555 But this restaurant is delicious and affordable. Great!

- Linsnong Beach, a place full of fire shows. Seriously, every shop has a fire show. I couldn't decide which one to sit at, but there weren't many people there because it wasn't the festival season. But it had a different kind of vibe.

DAY 5

  • We returned to the city from Koh Phangan and planned to stay another night before heading back. Most importantly, we hadn't tried the famous oysters of the province yet. On the 5th, we didn't take any photos because we were busy looking for accommodation. However, I can provide the location of the oyster restaurant. It's called "Phaya Oyster" and is located next to Lotus Surat Thani. We also wandered around the city aimlessly, feeling like we were just waiting to go home. 5555555

DAY 6

  • The last day! We need to catch the train around 7 pm. This time, we chose a new train with red seats. The ticket price is a bit more expensive, around 900 baht per person.

  • Everyone is ready for bed.

  • The new electric train is excellent. It has comfortable seats, a red color scheme, footrests, reading lights, and USB charging ports.

  • The friendly ticket inspector smiled broadly.

Summary:

This trip was a spontaneous adventure, driven by pure enthusiasm. The low cost was made possible by sharing expenses among a large group, resulting in a total expenditure of less than 3,000 baht per person for the 6-day, 5-night journey. This translates to a daily budget of approximately 500 baht.

The trip offered a variety of memorable experiences, including stunning beaches, friendly locals, and delicious, affordable food. The opportunity to ride the new train, take a boat trip, and experience various modes of transportation (except for airplanes) added to the overall enjoyment.

Given the chance and availability of friends, the group would undoubtedly embark on another similar adventure.
