Hello, thank you for following my travels. Today, I would like to offer a nearby trip. Because I am a person from Nonthaburi province, I would like to present a trip to cruise and visit Khlong Om Nonthaburi.

Another option is to take the Chao Phraya Express Boat. It's the last stop at Station 30, which is also the starting point for many people. The orange flag boat costs 15 baht for the entire journey.
It is clearly written.
A Brief History of Nonthaburi Province
The oldest evidence of settlement in Nonthaburi is Wat Prang Luang in Bang Muang Subdistrict, Bang Yai District. This temple features a large, twenty-sided prang, which is believed to have been built by King Ramathibodi I (King U-Thong) as a landmark for the community of U-Thong people who had fled an epidemic and settled in this area before the establishment of Ayutthaya as the capital. Another important community was Ban Talat Khwan, located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. However, the entire area of Nonthaburi Province at that time was still part of Ayutthaya, meaning that it has a history dating back more than 400 years, even older than Bangkok.
Established as a province by the Provincial Administration Act B.E. 2489, which came into effect on May 9, 1946, it is the 75th largest province in terms of land area but the second most densely populated after Bangkok.
Provincial emblem
The provincial seal, depicting an "exquisitely patterned water pot," symbolizes the long-standing and renowned tradition of pottery making among the people of Nonthaburi.
Upon arrival at the Nonthaburi pier, the Old City Hall will be immediately visible, serving as a prominent landmark of the area.
Old City Hall
Built during the reign of King Rama VI and originally housed Rajavithiyalai School, this building was later converted into the provincial hall in 1928 during the reign of King Rama VII due to economic hardship. The two-story wooden building, a blend of Thai and Western architectural styles, is adorned with intricate wood carvings made entirely of teak. After all provincial government offices relocated to the new administrative center on Rattanathibet Road, the Fine Arts Department registered this former provincial hall as an ancient monument. Currently, part of the building houses the Nonthaburi Provincial Museum, which collects and exhibits historical artifacts, cultural heritage, and local wisdom of Nonthaburi residents.
The nearby landmark is the Clock Tower.
This clock tower was built in 1957 by the Ministry of Interior. Recognizing the importance of punctuality, the Ministry issued a letter on April 4, 1954, requesting the installation of a public clock tower in Nonthaburi Municipality for the benefit of the public. The Nonthaburi Municipality Council instructed the municipal engineers to design the tower based on a model from the Department of Public Works. The tower is 17 meters high and has four clock faces on the top. Above the clock faces, there is a news broadcasting booth and a fire alarm on all four sides. The clock tower has been a central meeting and trading point for Nonthaburi residents from the past to the present.
Upon arrival at the Nonthaburi pier, you can rent a boat from the pier area. There will be vendors selling fish food, and you can negotiate the price, duration, and pick-up/drop-off locations with them.
Boat rental service is available. However, today I will only be traveling from Khlong Om Non to Bang Yai. I will not be going to Wat Takhian due to time constraints.
Boat tours to Koh Kret are also available.
Boarding point.
The opposite side is the Chao Phraya Express Boat Office.
It's time to board the ship.
Passed by a luxurious condo.
Cross the bridge
Maha Chesadabodindranusorn Bridge
The Nonthaburi 1 Bridge, also known as the Princess Mother Memorial Bridge, is a bridge crossing the Chao Phraya River. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the bridge's opening ceremony on September 30, 2015.
The atmosphere is refreshing today.
May I take a selfie with you?
Passing by old and beautiful houseboats.
This traditional Thai house is truly beautiful.
Having a house by the canal would be refreshing all day long.
At first, I looked to see what was swimming. It turned out to be three puppies struggling to swim.
While it's true that you might still see elderly vendors selling goods from boats in some parts of Thailand, this practice is no longer common in Bangkok.
This elderly gentleman is still in good health.
I would like to have some ice cream. The weather is really hot.
This elderly woman seems to be selling some kind of fried food.
This trip, I took my office guests on a tour of Khlong Non. We rode a speedboat, and they seemed very excited.
I am waiting for them here. This area is called Bang Muang Municipality.
Let's cross the bridge and explore a bit.
There are buses from Bang Yai Old, Bang Khu Wat, and Wat Ton Cheuak. If you only want to take the express boat, you can do so as well.
I walked to eat near the old Bang Yai market. There is also a small 7-11.
The rocket boat will arrive here in approximately 30 minutes.
I then returned to Nonthaburi Pier.
This house is likely to be occupied.
The Chao Phraya Express Boat: My Preferred Mode of Transportation
The Chao Phraya Express Boat is my preferred mode of transportation in Bangkok. Unlike traveling by car, I never have to worry about being late due to traffic jams or feeling stressed.
This concludes my review for today. I spent approximately 2-3 hours exploring the Nonthaburi Canal, which is ideal for those seeking a quick getaway from Bangkok. If you're visiting on a weekend, you can extend your trip by taking a boat to Koh Kret.
