Today, we're at "Mr. Kao's Chicken Rice," a chicken rice stall located at the entrance of Soi Lasalle 54. This stall is known for its bouncy chicken meat and delicious dipping sauce. The owner pays attention to every detail, from the way the rice is cooked to the preparation of the chicken. They use only happy chickens from a certified farm and make their own special dipping sauce.


This restaurant is a single-unit shophouse with a limited number of tables (approximately 4). While the prices are affordable, the flavors are exceptional.

Two-Tone Chopped Chicken

This dish features a generous portion of two-toned chicken, boasting tender meat and bouncy skin. The chicken is prepared using the restaurant's special recipe, which involves boiling and then shocking the chicken in ice water. The accompanying fried chicken is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, a rare find at most Hainanese chicken rice stalls, where the fried chicken is often pre-cooked and the skin becomes soggy.

  • Dipping sauce: A thick, concentrated sauce made with mature ginger and premium fermented soybeans, renowned for its unique flavor. Additional dipping sauce is available for purchase in separate bags.

  • Spicy pork bone soup with tender pork ribs and cartilage, a rich and flavorful broth with chili peppers, a touch of sourness from fresh lime juice, and the aromatic fragrance of coriander leaves.

Chicken rice is a widely available dish, but there are not many restaurants that serve it with delicious, clean, and flavorful taste. This restaurant is one of those I would recommend. :)
