Greetings from the Land of Three Mists, where the mists of three seasons linger. Before the rainy season fades away and the cool winter breeze truly arrives, Mae Hong Son continues to captivate our hearts. Regardless of the changing seasons, the diverse landscapes and the people who pass through leave an indelible mark on our memories.
This three-day, two-night trip covers three districts: Pai, Pang Ma Pha, and Mae Hong Son City, via Highway 1095. It's perfect for those with limited time and a budget. We visited approximately 10 locations, focusing on natural scenery and cultural immersion. This time, we added a hipster twist, showcasing the unique style of the local youth. How to visit 10 places in 3 days and 2 nights?
Day 1: Mo Fa Waterfall - Ban Rak Thai - Pang Ung
Day 2: Pang Ung - Phu Khlon - Doi Kong Mu Temple - Ban Jabo
Day 3: Ban Jabo - Phu Pha Mon - Boon Kho Ku So Bridge - Kong Lan - Tha Pai Historical Bridge
We took a long drive from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, then continued on to Mae Hong Son via the district office, and finally reached Pang Ung. The first day was a long journey because we wanted to get as far as possible before turning back. The way there was over a thousand curves, and the way back was only a thousand or so curves! Haha, easy! 55 Along the way, we came across a waterfall by the side of the road that was often ignored, even though there was a sign inviting us to visit. 55 We didn't ignore it, and stopped by for a look. It was the Morakot Waterfall. We took some time to pose for some cool photos. Click!
The journey from Chiang Mai to this point took about an hour and ten minutes, including a ten-minute walk to the waterfall. We then stopped for lunch in Pai before continuing to Pang Ung, arriving after dark. We left Chiang Mai at 9 am and arrived at Pang Ung around 6:30 pm.
Near Pang Ung, there is a village called Rak Thai, which is not far away. We decided to visit the village to watch the sunset and have dinner. It is only a 30-minute drive from Pang Ung, and the road is paved all the way.
In the morning, wake up to the breathtaking sea of mist at Pang Ung, surrounded by a lush pine forest. The campsite offers a unique opportunity to experience nature up close.
Pang Ung as expected, hoping for thick fog like this and yes!! Thank you for the fog cooperating.

After soaking in the beauty of Pang Ung, we headed to the mud volcano, a hidden gem of Mae Hong Son. This unique site is one of only three in the world with similar mineral compositions to the Dead Sea.
Now that the characters have transformed into black monkeys, let's not force them to revert to their original forms, as it would be shocking! 55
The spa process involves numerous steps, from bathing and body scrubbing to mud wraps, hot springs immersion, and cream application. As a person unfamiliar with such luxuries, I found the experience overwhelming yet strangely enjoyable.
Enjoying a hot spring with a scenic view is the best. The scenery is beautiful, and the people must be beautiful too, right? But the truth behind this picture is that everyone's faces are already red because not only is the water hot, but the sun is also scorching. Don't accidentally jump into the water like a catfish, or you'll scream! After the hot spring, you'll need to wash yourself and apply lotion to your skin. The whole experience costs around 700 baht. They also sell other skin care products made from mud, which is fantastic!
Afterward, we traveled to the city center to visit Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu, checking in that we had arrived in Mae Hong Son. Although the curves were plentiful, the views along the way offered solace at intervals. 💚 Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu serves as the spiritual center for the people of Mae Hong Son. If you come to Mae Hong Son and don't visit Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu, it's as if you haven't truly arrived! In addition to the Buddhist sanctuary, the temple also offers stunning views of Mae Hong Son due to its high elevation.
In the evening, we visited the Jabo Village and stayed at the house of Brother Naka. We learned about the culture of the local tribe, sang and played traditional music, and were taught how to weave bamboo. We truly immersed ourselves in the local way of life, eating, sleeping, and living alongside the villagers.
On the third morning, the last day we would see the fog, we came for 3 days and saw the fog every day. It was great. Phupha Moke viewpoint in Ban Ja Bo did not disappoint us. The view was amazing. We finally saw the fog after coming 6 times.
May I take a beautiful picture with the view? 55
After leaving Baan Jabo, we headed to Pai and stopped by Romance Farm, which offered stunning views.
There is also a place to sit and make MV. 55
Tired of people? Come and see the animals instead. Here, you'll find adorable horses and sheep. 💚
Instead of a farm, let's switch to a rice field, but still in Pai. That's the Boon Kho Ku So Bridge, a wooden bridge connecting the temple to the community for monks to collect alms. It also offers a close-up view of the rice fields and mountains.
In addition to its scenic beauty, Pai also offers adventurous activities such as hiking to Pai Canyon, also known as Kong Lan. The trail follows a narrow ridge with breathtaking views, making it an ideal spot for watching the sunset.
The journey concludes at the historic Tha Pai Bridge, a must-visit photo spot for travelers. This aging bridge, constructed during World War II, attracts attention for its unique structure, which stands in stark contrast to modern bridges.
The people of Doi Ster say goodbye for now, and we will meet again in the review. See you soon, with a kiss. We will meet again.
I would like to express my gratitude to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Mae Hong Son for the opportunity to explore, experience, and capture the essence of Mae Hong Son like a local. 🙏
