A few kilometers away from the Thai-Myanmar border lies a small village called "Ban Ja Bo," home to the Lahu or Musoe people. This remote community boasts stunning views of the mist-covered mountains, making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts. Whether you're at the front of your house, enjoying a meal at a local restaurant, or simply walking along the road, you're likely to encounter the mesmerizing sight of mist floating among the peaks, a spectacle that occurs almost every day throughout the year.

We have been here five times before and never encountered fog. Finally, on our sixth visit, we were greeted by fog blanketing every corner of the village. To escape the ordinary ground-level view, we decided to hike up the rocks for a breathtaking panorama from above.

"Phu Pha Moke," a 360-degree viewpoint overlooking a sea of mist, is located in Pang Ma Pha District, Mae Hong Son Province. From this vantage point, visitors can take in the entirety of Ban Jabo and the surrounding mountain ranges, stretching as far as the eye can see. The short 10-minute climb is well worth the effort for the breathtaking views.

I enjoy revisiting the same place repeatedly, observing its gradual transformations, and anticipating the unexpected discoveries that await me on each subsequent visit.

The dense fog blanketed the landscape, obscuring everything in sight. We took numerous photographs, starting at 6:00 AM and continuing until almost 10:30 AM. Despite the lingering fog, we decided to call it a day as the heat became unbearable.

For those who are afraid of heights or are not interested in hiking to a high vantage point, there is a designated viewpoint at the base of the mountain where you can still enjoy the stunning sea of mist. This viewpoint is conveniently located next to a restaurant with hanging legs, offering a relaxing and scenic experience.

For those interested in an overnight stay, there is the option of staying at a homestay with the Jabo Conservation Tourism Group. The community of Ban Jabo has a total of 22 homestays available.
