Which destinations near Bangkok offer a balance between nature and rural charm?
Pathum Thani is a province that has emerged in my mind.
Today, we will take you on a trip to Pathum Thani in the style of Go with Sweet Toddy Palm. :)
Our one-day trip begins at the 100-year-old Rahaeng Market.
This market is located near the Khlong Rahaeng crossing. In 1915, the Bangkok-Bang Bua Thong-Lad Lum Kaew railway line was opened, with the terminal station at Rahaeng. This led to the development of the area, with a bustling market and a steady flow of people.
The railway line was later discontinued. The source, http://rahangmarket.blogspot.com/, does not specify when it was discontinued.
The market retains a nostalgic atmosphere of old-time Thailand. Wooden houses line both sides of the canal, interspersed with a few concrete buildings, creating a charming and classic ambiance.
The sentence is already in English and does not require translation.
At the front of the market, we find the Boonjarien Antique Museum.
An antique shop housing a vast collection of historical artifacts.
The owner of this shop is Mr. Achart, who is passionate about the charm of antiques. He used to run an orchard alongside his antique business, but after the orchard was damaged by the flood in 2011, Mr. Achart decided to focus solely on selling antiques.
The antique shop boasts a diverse collection of vintage items, including lunch boxes, various containers, Buddha statues, film projectors, radios, and telephones.
The second floor of the shop is our favorite. The wooden house with portraits of the King and Queen on the walls looks very harmonious and magical.
I have never seen a cigarette vending machine before.
After leaving the antique shop, continue walking uphill and you will find a store selling household goods.
Upon crossing the canal to the other side, you will see a barbershop called "Hair Salon."
A long-standing barbershop for over 40 years, owned by Mr. Amnuay, consistently attracts customers due to the meticulous and attentive service provided by the barbers. Moreover, the prices are reasonable, with haircuts for children costing 50 baht and for adults 60 baht.
Next is the famous Ta Pheng's ancient noodle shop, a popular spot in the Rahaeng market.
Closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Open from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
The tom yum noodles I ordered were delicious. The flavors were perfectly balanced.
Boiled dipping sauce with a variety of dumplings, including fish, shrimp, and pork, is also delicious.
A short walk from the noodle shop, you will find the Chao Rahaeng Shrine on the opposite side of the road.
Our noodles haven't even finished digesting, but we're already at Pae Phochana for another must-try meal.
Many people have reviewed that the food here tastes very good.
This pork jiao has a unique flavor that I haven't experienced before. I'm used to eating shrimp jiao.
Sun-dried snakehead fish, deep-fried to crispy perfection, boasting a tender interior and an irresistible aroma.
Tom Yum Pork Leg is another dish that we really like.
The restaurant is open daily from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
The market is open daily from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Thank you for the 100-year map of Talat Rot Fai from Prasith_p (osbmx-Thailand website).
With full bellies, let's fill our hearts with merit by making offerings at Wat Bot.
What is in the temple? Let's see the answer together.
The temple houses a large statue of Luang Pho To, where visitors can pay their respects.
And there is also a large statue of Luang Pho Sot.
The front of the temple is next to the river, where you can make merit by feeding the fish.
A small market selling food and snacks is also available for you to purchase and take home.
The temple also houses many sacred objects for worship and blessings, such as Luang Pho Leu, Phra Sivali, and Thao Chatuchakarm Ramthep.
A fifteen-minute drive from Wat Bot brought us to Uncle Jorn's hut.
We are currently interested in growing cacti, so we decided to visit and purchase some cacti here.
A wooden house with a large tree in front, creating a shady and pleasant atmosphere.
As you venture deeper, you will encounter a magnificent field of cacti, a truly awe-inspiring sight.
A diverse range of breeds, placed together, creates a captivating charm.
Pots and decorations add cuteness.
I am very fond of this plant. It is called Lithops.
And here's what we bought back home. Let me tell you, walking around Uncle Jorn's hut was a real pleasure and super chill.
This location is closed every Wednesday. From Monday to Saturday, it is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. On Sundays, it is open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
If possible, please call to make an appointment to view the cacti before entering.
We conclude our trip by enjoying coffee and snacks amidst the serene natural ambiance at…
"Prem Cafe in the Garden"
The Shady Shop is a Mexican-style garden with many corners for relaxing and taking photos.
Please order your drinks and snacks first.
We ordered iced latte, lychee soda, and cake roll. All three items were impressive.
In addition to drinks and snacks, the shop also offers a variety of single-dish meals.
Those seeking fresh air are encouraged to relax in the outdoor garden.
As you continue walking straight ahead, you will reach a riverside area with a cool breeze. This spot is absolutely amazing!
And as always, there are various corners decorated for taking photos.
Even the bathroom signs are stylish.
I never thought Pathum Thani would have such a beautiful and shady cafe. I'm really impressed.
The shop is open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
If you are lost, please refer to the map.
