In Singapore’s Little India, this restaurant believed to serve the best Dum Biryani in Singapore, Bismillah Biryani Restaurant..

In Singapore, we’re so familiar with Indian food. It’s in every corner. Oh! It’s in every corner. Oh! It’s possibly cause we were staying in Little India. One of the most colourful Little India I have ever come across!. When it’s all Indian influenced stuffs surrounding, of course, we craved Indian food every so often like seriously.

Talking about Indian food, besides the flavourful curries, there’s no way Biryani doesn’t pop up in mind..

HAVE YOU HEARD OF DUM BIRYANI?

It’s not a normal Biryani..

DUM BIRYAANI IS PREPARED WITH A PROCESS OF SEALING IN THE INGREDIENTS WHILE COOKING. DUM, MEANS ‘AIR-COOKED’ OR ‘BAKED’.

The normal Biryani has the rice and meat cooked separately so the fragrance and the aroma don’t really go into the rice as much as the Dum Biryani.

When search ‘ Best Dum Biryani ‘ on youtube, so many ‘Hyderabad’ or ‘Hyderabadi’ also popped up next to it. That’s how I found out it’s originated from there, the capital of southern India’s Telangana state.

BEST DUM BIRYANI AT BISMILLAH BIRYANI RESTAURANT

Bismillah Biryani Restaurant was recommended by some of the locals. Also, looking it up on the internet, they’re pretty well-known there in Singapore. There we went and I was glad we did..

First thing I saw when walking into Bismillah Biryani Restaurant, the bright yellow sign saying something I couldn’t help smiling.

MAKING MONEY IS OUR SECONDARY OBJECTIVE. MAKING GOOD TASTING AND LEAST UNHEALTHY FOOD IS PRIMARY. TASTE COUNTS BUT YOUR HEALTH MATTERS MOST

We got there even before the restaurant was opened but they’re kind enough to welcome us and let us sit there for half an hour. Right after the open sign flipped, people kept coming non-stop slowly.

DUM BIRYANI WITH KID GOAT (S$15)

Of couse, we ordered Biryani since it’s Bismillah Biryani Restaurant. Quite a few choices but we went for Dum Biryani with kid goat. It’s said on the menu that this one is super duper tender and yes, as it said so.

3 colours long grain rice. So fragrant and yes, the kid goat was real tender. With the yogurt sauce called Raita also goes together so well. It’s like a little sourness contrasts with that strong spices tastes. Though, was this the best Dum Biryani in Singapore? I can’t tell. This was just the only one we went to and yes, we loved it!

MANGO LASSI (S$2.5)

I like lassi in general.. I don’t have it often but back then when I visited India and Nepal, it was something I drank everyday besides hot Chai tea. This one I wouldn’t say it’s the best I have ever tried..

Also the fact that it’s pre-made and already packaged in a sealed plastic cup, that didn’t impress me much. I wish it’s made fresh cup by cup.

WHOA! MAGIC KULFI AT BISMILLAH BIRYANI RESTAURANT (S$4)

This is super duper oh my freakin’ good Kulfi. I love ice-cream but I love kulfi more! Rose water smells nice and pistachio is a magic nut!

KULFI IS A FROZEN DAIRY DESSERT ORIGINATING FROM THE INDIA. SIMILAR TO ICE CREAM BUT IS MUCH CREAMIER. CONTAINS ROSE WATER, PISTACHIO AND SOME OTHER INDIAN SPICES

I didn’t remember when was the last time I had kulfi but this one reminded me how much love I always had for it. So creamy and smells like an Indian temple.. Ha! It’s just rose water smell!

I considered it pretty pricey here at Bismillah though.. S$4 for such a tiny tiny one.

Bismillah Biryani Restaurant is for sure one of the restaurant I would love to re-visit if I ever go back to Singapore. The kulfi got all my heart <3 and hey, I would sure love to go try other Biryanis and also the Seekh Kebab I couldn’t order last time. We’re there a little too early. Their Seekh Kebab mentioned on Trip Advisor as a melt-in-the-mouth kebab.. Sounds good to you? Go try some yourself
