Hello everyone, today I, "Wife finds, husband uses", will take you to one of the sushi restaurants that everyone has been praising for its high quality and wide variety of menus. This restaurant is "Sushi Hana".

Sushi Hana, pronounced "Sushi Hana," is a Japanese restaurant with approximately 10 branches. The first branch, which made the restaurant famous and introduced it to many people, is the Rama 3 branch. However, for today's visit, I will take you all to the Ratchaphruek branch.

Sushi Hana, Ratchapruk branch, is located opposite The Walk Ratchapruk. It is an open space with 3-4 restaurants in the area. This open space is located between Home Pro and the Mazda showroom. I think it should be easy to find. When you turn into the parking lot, you will see the front of the restaurant like this. As for parking, you can choose to park in the open space at your own discretion. There are quite a lot of parking spaces, but they are outdoor and without a roof. If you go during the day, there will be people who will cover the front windshield of your car with a cloth.

Upon entering the restaurant, you will find that it has a rectangular shape. On the right-hand side is a VIP room for large groups, while the central area is where the chef prepares the food. There are also 27 seats at the counter where you can watch the chef cook, and the rest of the restaurant is filled with tables of various sizes, both large and small. In total, the restaurant can accommodate approximately 100-120 people.

Here are the details of my dining experience:

Sunday, March 13, 2016

Approximately 12:45-13:45 PM.

Ratchapruk Branch

2 people

The waiter led me to my table and handed me the menu. There were two menus: a large one with regular-priced items and a wide variety of dishes, and a smaller A4-sized menu with special promotion prices. The front side of the promotion menu listed prices for the general public, while the back side listed prices for members who held the restaurant's membership card.

After considering the food and prices, I decided to sign up for the restaurant's membership card for 300 baht. I was able to use the privileges immediately on the first day I signed up. The privileges I received are as follows:

- 15% discount on regular-priced food when paying with a credit card, and 10% discount when paying in cash.

- Get a 20% discount during your birthday (valid for 7 days, starting 3 days before your birthday, your birthday, and 3 days after your birthday)

- You can order food at a special Promotion price for members.

- Customers can order food at special promotional prices.

The promotional menu items for regular customers and members are different. There are no overlapping items. The main reason I decided to become a member today is because there is one very interesting special promotion for members, which is the Engawa Sushi (Halibut Fin) that is discounted from 120 baht to 72 baht. And here is a list of all the food items I ordered in the first round.

- Engawa Sushi (Flounder Fin Sushi) 2 pieces

- Sakuradai Sushi (Sakuradai Sushi) 1 piece

  • Salmon Sushi (Salmon Sushi) 2 pieces

- Engawa Hana (Engawa Hana) 1 word

- Salmon Toro Sashimi (1 serving)

  • 1 order of Niku Alaska Maki

After the staff took my order, they brought me the iced green tea I ordered along with some snacks. The green tea here is free of charge, which is great. It tasted good. The snacks were edamame and fried chicken.

Alright, the food has arrived. Let's start with the first dish that many people recommended me to try, which is Salmon Toto Sashimi. It is served on a large plate with a total of 5 pieces. The pattern is beautiful and the size of the fish is quite thick.

The taste is delicious, bouncy, and full of flavor. People who like to eat fatty and meaty parts will probably be impressed like my boyfriend. But personally, I don't really like to eat fatty meat like this. I prefer to eat plain meat.

The price of this dish is 380 baht.

The next menu is Niku Alaska Maki, or grilled salmon wagyu beef roll. This menu will have the wagyu beef slightly burned, then wrapped in salmon that has been burned on the outside, and topped with black shrimp roe. Judging from the ingredients, this should be one of my favorite menus. But it turned out that the taste I got was not as good as it should be. Most importantly, the taste of the salmon almost completely masked the wagyu beef.

This menu comes with a total of 6 dishes, served in a tiered presentation like this. It is not served on a plate as shown in the menu. The regular price for this dish is 480 baht, but there is a 40% discount, bringing the price down to 288 baht.

The next menu is Salmon Sushi with a regular price of 70 baht/piece. The size of the fish is quite long, but the thickness is not much. In terms of taste, it is considered good, delicious, and worth the price.

Next up is Engawa Sushi, or single-fin fish fin, which normally costs 120 baht per piece. However, with the special member price, it's only 72 baht per piece. This dish is considered very good value for money. It's rare to find Engawa Sushi for 72 baht per piece, especially with such a large piece of fish. It's delicious!

The next menu is Engawa Hana. This menu consists of seared single-eye fish fin wrapped around rice at the bottom. Then there is chopped raw fish mixed with sauce and salmon roe as a topping. The ingredients are very full, with a price per word of 210 baht. But I used the member card price, so the price is 126 baht/word.

The taste is delicious, but personally, if I had to choose again, I would rather have two pieces of regular Engawa Sushi, which costs 144 baht. I feel it's more worthwhile and tastier.

Continuing on to the last menu item of the first round, Sakuradai Sushi, which has toppings of chili, vegetables, and is seasoned with a sour and spicy flavor like tom yum. The result is that it completely masks the taste of the fish. T_T

Personally, I wasn't very impressed with this menu item. I think that eating sushi should be more about savoring the taste of the fish. This menu item costs 60 baht per piece.

The text you provided is already in English. Therefore, no translation is required.

After finishing the first set, I opened the menu to see what else was worth trying and found one item that caught my eye: Salmon Skin Sushi. So I ordered an extra serving of that. And since I was so impressed with the taste of the Engawa Sushi, I decided to order one more piece of that as well.

While waiting for the next round of food, let's take a look at the soup here. The soup here is a clear soup. It tastes delicious and I like it very much. There are also konjac noodles in the soup. In addition, the soup here is refillable for free. And they refill it very quickly. The staff will bring you a new cup of soup.

For this additional order, although I only ordered a few items, the waiting time was much longer than the first round. This is because there were more people in the restaurant than when I first arrived. So I had plenty of time to observe the chef doing this and that.

And finally, the menu we ordered for the second round was served: 1 Salmon Skin Sushi and 1 Engawa Sushi.

For the Salmon Skin Sushi, 1 order comes with 2 pieces. The first piece has avocado topping, while the second piece has shrimp roe topping. My wife and I each took one piece according to our preferences. My wife had the avocado, and I had the shrimp roe. The taste was okay. The salmon had skin on it, as the name of the menu suggests.

The price of this menu is normally 210 baht/serving (2 words), but there is a promotion for general customers with a 40% discount, which is 126 baht/serving or 63 baht/word.

After finishing this set, I asked the staff about dessert or fruit. Sushi Hana offers free watermelon for everyone. The pieces are large, two per person. The watermelon is well chilled and tastes sweet. Delicious! It was a great way to end the meal.

Okay, it's time to settle the bill. The total damage for this meal is 1,619 baht, broken down as follows:

- Membership fee 300 baht

- Service charge 70 baht. The restaurant charges a service charge of 35 baht per person, regardless of how much you eat or how expensive your order is.

- Food cost 1,249 baht

After deducting the membership card, the actual value of this meal is 1,319 baht, which is 659.50 baht per person. Now let's take a look at the summary of information in each section to see what I think.

Taste of food: Overall, the taste of the food is good. The ingredients used are of better quality than many other restaurants. The dishes that I was most impressed with were the Engawa Sushi and Salmon Toro Sashimi. As for the fusion dishes, the ingredients were very generous, but I thought they didn't really go together. This could be partly because I don't really like fusion sushi that much. It's rare to find something that's mixed and tastes good.

Food Variety: There is a wide variety of food available, including rice balls, sashimi, and various rice bowls. From what I can see, there are also several types of fish that I haven't seen in other restaurants.

Shop Cleanliness: Clean, looks good, nothing to complain about.

Employee service: I think it's good. The service is fast, especially for refilling green tea and soup. As for inquiries about various promotions, I got good answers.

Travel Convenience: The Ratchaphruek branch is primarily suitable for those who have their own vehicles. There is ample parking space, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding a spot. However, during the day, the cars may get a bit hot as there is no roof. For those who find it inconvenient to dine at this branch, there are nearly 10 other branches to choose from.

Value for Money:

When I try a new sushi restaurant, I usually compare the price of the food to the quality of the basic menu items, such as Salmon Sushi, Engawa Sushi, Unagi Sushi, or Salmon Sashimi. Some of Sushi Hana's menu items passed the test in terms of quality and value for money, such as Salmon Sushi or Engawa Sushi. The Engawa Sushi in particular was a great deal with the 72 baht/piece promotion. I didn't try the Unagi Sushi or the eel rice bowl because it wasn't on promotion and I thought the regular price was a bit high. As for the Salmon Sashimi and Salmon Toro Sashimi, I thought the prices were a bit high. The Salmon Sashimi was 290 baht/serving and the Salmon Toro Sashimi was 380 baht/serving. Even with the 10-15% discount, I think Sushi Hiro wins hands down in terms of price and value for money.

Sushi Hana: High-Quality Sushi with a Pricey Catch

Summary: Sushi Hana is a restaurant offering high-quality sushi with a diverse menu and fresh ingredients that live up to the price. However, the high price point can be a barrier for many, including myself. To address this, the restaurant offers regular monthly promotions with discounts of up to 40-50% for both regular customers and members. Additionally, they have special weekday promotions from Monday to Friday. This makes Sushi Hana particularly attractive for those who live or work nearby, as the weekday promotions offer several enticing deals.

A membership card costs 300 baht and grants immediate benefits, making it a worthwhile investment in my opinion. Members receive exclusive monthly discounts and a 15% discount on regular-priced food when paying with a credit card, or 10% off when paying with cash. (Interestingly, credit card payments offer a higher discount than cash payments.) By paying once for the membership, you can keep an eye on the restaurant's promotions and take advantage of the best deals on your favorite dishes. For example, I've seen promotions offering a 50% discount on Salmon Sashimi, bringing the price down from 290 baht to just 145 baht per serving.

The last thing that impressed me about this restaurant was the way they calculated the service charge. Instead of charging a percentage of the bill, they charged a flat rate of 35 baht per person. This saved me a bit of money, as normally I would have had to pay around 125 baht for a 10% service charge. However, this time I only paid 70 baht, which saved me 55 baht.
