Hello everyone, welcome back to my food review with me, Mr. "Wife finds, husband uses". For this time, I will take you all to a rooftop restaurant with beautiful views and a very good atmosphere, Cielo sky bar and restaurant. If you don't believe me, take a look at the panoramic picture I took from the restaurant. Besides seeing the city view, you can also see the beautiful curve of the Chao Phraya River, right? ^^

Before I get into the food review, I want to say a few things first. Although this review is sponsored, the content and my directness in writing remain the same. This is one of the conditions I stated that I would like permission to write a review based on my actual experience, and I will send it to you to read first. If you are not satisfied, you can only prohibit me from publishing it, but you cannot edit the content of the food taste and service. Therefore, everyone who follows this review should feel more comfortable reading it. Also, for this review, I still have to use some of my own money. So, I assure you that I am writing honestly. ^^

Cielo sky bar and restaurant is one of the 50 restaurants participating in the Bangkok Restaurant Week 2016 project with Wongnai. This project brings together many famous restaurants in Bangkok to offer special set menus at special prices for those who are interested. The prices are set at an easy-to-remember price of 499 baht/person for the lunch set menu and 699 baht/person for the dinner set menu.

This set menu consists of 3 courses: Appetizer, Main course, and Dessert. After browsing through the list of restaurants, I found that they are all well-known and many of them are places I've been wanting to try for a long time. However, I haven't been able to try them because my wallet wasn't ready even though my heart was. T____T

Let me share with you some of the restaurants that will be participating in the event. If you're interested in seeing the full list, you can search for more information online to see if there are any restaurants that you'd like to try. From what I've seen, there are not only famous restaurants, but also a wide variety of cuisines, including Japanese, French, Italian, hamburgers, and even restaurants in 5-star hotels. So, there's quite a lot to choose from.

As you can see from the picture, the starting price of each restaurant is different. However, when participating in this project, the price must be the same, which is 499 baht/person for lunch and 699 baht/person for dinner.

Upon a cursory glance at the information, if we are interested in the specifics of what we will be able to eat for the price we are paying, we can simply click on the name of the restaurant. For example, in this image, I clicked on the Lunch Set of Man Ho Restaurant at the JW Marriot Hotel. This will bring up a detailed breakdown of their appetizers, main courses, and desserts. We will be able to choose one item from each category (we will choose the menu items on the day we go to eat, not now).

If you like what you see, you can click "Buy". The website will then take you to this page, where you can select the quantity you want and fill in your information, including your email address, phone number, and payment method. Then, click "Place Order".

For those who have a special price code or want to use any discount, you can see it at the bottom right. Oh... One very important thing is that the price mentioned as 499 Baht for lunch and 699 Baht for dinner is not the net price. There will be additional Vat and Service Charge. Therefore, the actual price we have to pay is 587.32 Baht/person for lunch and 822.72 Baht/person for dinner.

Once you have placed your order, you will be notified via SMS on your mobile phone and via the email address you registered with us. To use the coupon or deal you purchased, you must use the Wongnai application. Therefore, on the day you use the service, you must bring your mobile phone or tablet with the Wongnai application installed. Otherwise, you will not be able to use it. T___T

After spending a good 2-3 hours agonizing over which restaurant to try, I finally decided on Cielo sky bar and restaurant. The reason for my indecision? Well, there are just so many tempting options out there, and with the recent price drops, I'm itching to give them all a shot. So, after much deliberation, I settled on Cielo, and that's how this post came to be... haha, what a longwinded introduction!

After I chose a restaurant, bought a coupon, and finished everything, the next step was to call and reserve a seat in advance. Because the day I was going was a Sunday, I was secretly afraid that it would be very full - -“

Date of consumption: Sunday, May 1, 2016

Time: 5:00 PM – 8:15 PM

Number: 2 people

When the day arrived, I set off for W District, Phra Khanong, where Cielo is located. Cielo is on the 46th floor of the Skywalk condominium in W District. The opening hours are from 5 pm to midnight.

For those who have never been to W District before, I recommend observing the 2 statues in this picture. They are located near the BTS Phra Khanong station, so they shouldn't be difficult to find.

For those who are driving, you can park your car on the 5th floor of the building and take the elevator up to the 46th floor. But for those who are not driving, you can walk in on the 1st floor and there will be a sign like this in front of you.

As we walk in, we will see the reception counter on the right-hand side. In front of us, there are chairs for waiting, along with a large sign with the shop's name.

At the counter, the receptionist will have 3-4 signs, including food price signs, dress code requirements, photo contest activities, and information about Bangkok Restaurant Week 2016. For those who purchased coupons or deals, Cielo will not be able to issue receipts because the name on the issued receipt will be wongnai. Therefore, anyone who is interested in purchasing coupons for this activity to use in their company's business and needs to claim a receipt will not be eligible. T___T

After the staff checked my name against the list of people who had made reservations, they took me to the elevator to go up to the 46th floor. The staff had already called ahead to the floor, so when I got off the elevator, there was a new set of staff waiting to greet me and call my name correctly.

As I arrived quite early, around 5:10 PM, the sun was still quite strong. The staff suggested that I sit in the shade for a while, so I took the opportunity to walk around and take some photos.

The Cielo restaurant is divided into two main sections: Indoor and Outdoor. Most guests who come to dine here prefer to sit in the Outdoor area. On many days, the restaurant is quite busy and may even be full. On the day I visited, there were only a few outdoor tables left. When a large group of about 20 foreigners came to dine, they couldn't all be seated. In the end, the group had to wait a long time for a table to become available.

Let me show you the indoor zone first. It looks like this. There are both sofas and chairs. In this indoor zone, almost every table has no view. This is why not many people sit inside. ^^

In this indoor zone, there are a lot of wines on display. I don't have any expertise in this area, but a staff member came over and gave me a brief explanation of what makes each bottle special. They even mentioned that some of the bottles are so expensive that they cost millions of baht! @____@

Let's take a look at the outdoor zone. This zone has chairs arranged in both large and small tables according to the number of guests who have made reservations. There is also a section with a counter bar. The first picture is of the table where I will be sitting. As you can see, the sun is still quite strong in this area. Those who arrive early may have to sit in the shade like me first.

For the table next to the glass fence, it is considered safe and strong. The height of the fence is very high. It is so high that short people like me have to tiptoe a little to put the camera on the fence when they want to take pictures.

The view from Cielo is a very wide and beautiful panoramic view. You can see both the city view and the Chao Phraya River view, as I posted in the topic header. Most importantly, you can also see the sunset. On a beautiful day, it must be very romantic. But unfortunately, the weather wasn't very good on the day I went. T____T

Oh... for all seats in the outdoor zone, if it rains, you won't be able to sit at all. Everyone, every table will have to move to sit in the indoor zone. Because the restaurant does not have a roof for the outdoor zone at all.

In the outdoor zone behind the bar counter, there is a short glass walkway, about 10-20 meters long, which allows you to look down and see the garden below. I'm not sure if the garden I saw is on the 1st floor, but I know it's very high. Looking down, I felt a little dizzy. When I first walked past, I was startled, but after I got used to it, I could sit and look down.

Okay, now that the sun has set and the wind has calmed down, my wife and I walked to the table that the restaurant had reserved for us. The table had a sign that said "Reserved" with our name written on it. When we arrived at the table, the staff immediately came over to take care of us, including pulling out the chairs for us and putting down a bib. I have to say, the service was excellent.

After I finished my meal, I informed the staff that I would be using a Wongnai coupon. The staff then asked to see the coupon in the application and proceeded to stamp "void" on the usage right. After the staff stamped the coupon, a code appeared after a while. Don't close the application immediately, as the restaurant needs to note down this code.

Once the staff has noted down this code, they will bring us a menu of dishes participating in this project to choose from. Each person can choose one item per category.

The item that I had the most trouble choosing was the Main course, because I wanted to try all 3 of them. Whether it was the roasted duck breast, the salmon steak, or the Kurobuta pork chop, I wanted them all. But in the end, I chose the following:

My Set

**Appetizer:** Beet salmon carpaccio, roasted beetroot, honey mustard

Main course : Grilled Kurobuta Pork Chop

Dessert: Ricotta cheese

Wife's Set

Appetizer: Duo Tiger Prawn, Tiger Prawn, Bacon Bits, Melon Caviar, Orange

Main course : Pan-Seared Norwegian Salmon (Salmon steak with mashed potatoes)

Dessert: Frozen Chocolate Mousse

The menu provided by the restaurant displays the full price of each dish, which can be quite high. It's important to note that each Wongani coupon can only be used for one order. For example, if you are dining with two people, you will need to purchase two coupons. Once the staff has stamped the coupon in our application, you will receive a notification via email and SMS to the registered mobile number. This is a great security feature.

Another thing to note is that this set does not include drinks. We have to order them separately. I'm not sure if other restaurants offer free water, but at Ceilo, we have to order it ourselves. The types of drinks available are the same as those found in most bars. The prices of smoothies, cocktails, and mocktails are also standard for rooftop bars like this, around 200-300 baht per glass. I ordered a "Lychee Smoothie" and my wife ordered a "Mai Thai" cocktail. The drinks arrived within 5 minutes. The taste of both drinks was normal. I don't know how else to describe it. @_@

I sat sipping water, admiring the beautiful view before the sunset for a while. Then the staff brought both Appetizer dishes to serve. What will it look like? How will it taste? Let's see together.

The first dish was Beet salmon carpaccio, Roasted beet root, Honey mustard, which is raw salmon marinated with spices. This dish is served with beetroot and honey mustard. The presentation is beautiful and the taste is well-seasoned. The raw salmon is delicious, and I finished the dish in no time.

The next dish is Duo Tiger prawn, Tiger prawn, Bacon bits, Melon Caviar, Orange, or black tiger prawns prepared in 2 ways. This dish is the one I think the chef has arranged the most beautifully on the menu tonight. The two prawns are cooked in different ways on a dark black plate.

The first shrimp comes with crispy fried bacon bits, while the other shrimp is coated with fried rice puffs. Both pairs look quite strange, I've never seen anything like it before. The dish also includes sago melon, bread, and Chinese celery. Since I thought this dish was incredibly beautiful, I'm posting several pictures of it.

In terms of taste, this dish is delicious. It has a unique flavor, with fresh and large shrimp. The sago, melon, and pomelo have a slightly sweet taste that complements the dish well.

After finishing the appetizers, while waiting for the staff to serve the main course, I would like to take a moment to show you all the beautiful view. Because right now the sun is setting perfectly. The wind is also blowing cool and comfortable, plus the music playing is international music that is very relaxing to listen to.

Well, I have to say, with an atmosphere like this, anyone who brings their girlfriend here to propose or brings their fiancee here to propose, they're definitely going to say yes.

After enjoying the beautiful view, let's get back to our main course. The first dish is the "Kurobuta Pork Steak". It's a large piece of pork chop served on a black plate, drizzled with black pepper sauce, and accompanied by vegetables and mashed potatoes.

The taste of this dish is good, but not amazing. It's up to the standard of the price and the premium steak restaurant. But the mashed potatoes are very strange, they are coated with something green and crispy. It's a strange taste.

Moving on to the Main course, another menu is "Salmon steak". The fish is very thick and the chef cooked it well. The meat is moist and not too dry.

After I finished the main course, the waiter came to clear the plates. I told him not to serve dessert yet, as I still wanted to enjoy the view and needed to get some documents from my car.

As for the surrounding view, it's getting dark now. The lights in the city buildings are starting to turn on. If it were a weekday, the lights in the buildings and on the streets would be brighter and more beautiful.

In less than 10 minutes, the sun had almost disappeared and the city's colors began to play. This picture gives you a panoramic view of what I could see from my table.

After watching the sunset, I went to my car to take care of some things for about 10 minutes. When I returned to my table, I found that two plates of dessert had already been placed there. I was a little disappointed because they had started to melt and didn't look as good anymore. I had specifically told the staff not to serve them yet because I was worried about them melting, but it happened anyway. - -“

The first dessert is "ricotta cheese". The dish also includes raspberry ice cream. The taste is delicious and very satisfying.

The second dessert was chocolate mousse. I only had a small taste because I don't like chocolate. Every time I eat it, it tastes bitter to me. - -“

For this dish, my wife said the taste was okay. It passed the test.

After finishing dessert, it was time to settle the bill and head home. I informed the staff, and they promptly brought the bill. The bill included the cost of the food set that we used the coupon for, which was 699 baht per person in my case. There were also two glasses of water, bringing the total to 1,998.27 baht, including VAT and service charge. There was a handwritten note on the side stating that the actual amount I needed to pay was 600.27 baht. I'm not sure if this is how the billing system works in every restaurant or if they can deduct the value of the coupon used from the bill directly, making it easier to understand.

Okay, so we've reached the final part of this review, the summary. I'm going to divide the review into two main sections: the first section will be about the Bangkok Restaurant Week 2016 coupons, and the second section will be about Cielo Sky Bar and Restaurant.

Story 1: Bangkok Restaurant Week 2016

Roughly speaking, I think this is one of the best campaigns for gourmets. Because each restaurant or dining room that participates in the project is considered to have a good reputation and reputation. Especially for people like me who have a restaurant in mind that I want to eat, but haven't eaten it because it's expensive. This campaign makes it easier for me to eat. But in terms of usage, I think it's still a bit cumbersome to have to show the application, stamp the usage, and fill out documents at the restaurant. If it can be made easier to use, such as using only a mobile phone to notify the code without going through the application, it might be better. Another thing is that I would like the price advertised next year to be the net price. For example, 555 baht/person for lunch, 799 baht/person for dinner, something like that. It will make it easier for buyers to understand, know the exact price, and not have to deal with VAT and service charges. And it will make them confused and feel bad.

Story 2: Cielo sky bar and restaurant For this story, I will separate it into sub-topics as follows:

Food Taste: Overall, the taste of the 6 dishes was good and passed the test. Some dishes were normal, while others exceeded expectations and were beyond expectations. The presentation of all the dishes was beautiful, making you want to take pictures and eat them as soon as you saw them. As for the 2 drinks, they were normal according to the standards of general bars. Perhaps it was because I ordered basic menu items, so I didn't feel anything wow.

Culinary Variety: As I dined on a set menu this time, I can't comment much on the variety of dishes available. However, the beverage menu is quite diverse, which is understandable given the restaurant's origins as a bar. From what I overheard the staff discussing with a nearby table, Cielo has only recently begun operating as a restaurant and hasn't yet had a grand opening or significant promotion.

Shop cleanliness: Clean and tidy, no issues in this area.

Service: My experience with the service was a mixed bag. Overall, the staff was attentive and took good care of us, from pulling out chairs to laying down protective cloths and using polite language. However, there were a few things that left me disappointed. Firstly, the staff wasn't fully informed about the restaurant's promotions. Secondly, they served us dessert without informing us beforehand. Most importantly, the restaurant's handling of a large group of foreign tourists who hadn't made a reservation and for whom there weren't enough tables was inadequate. This group ended up standing around our table and talking loudly for an extended period. I believe the restaurant should have separated or designated specific areas for such groups. Additionally, the dress code policy displayed on a sign wasn't enforced at all. Many people were wearing shorts, which, if Cielo is going to be lenient about this, the sign shouldn't be there. It makes the restaurant seem less credible.

Transportation Convenience:

W district is a conveniently located area, being very close to the BTS Phra Khanong station. You can practically walk there without breaking a sweat. For those driving, it's easily accessible as the entrance is right on Sukhumvit Road, no need to navigate through any sois. As for parking, although the lanes in the building's parking lot are a bit narrow, there's ample space available.

Value for money: If you look at the food prices on the menu, you have to say that the prices of each dish are a bit high. But part of the reason for this is probably because the prices include the cost of the view and the location. Because you have to admit that in this area, Cielo sky bar and restaurant is probably one of the restaurants with the most beautiful views. Many people might think that a view from the 46th floor wouldn't be that great, but it's actually the perfect height. You don't see other buildings that are too short or too small to make out what they are. And the fact that there are no other tall buildings blocking the view of Cielo means that you can see a panoramic view of the city, the Chao Phraya River, and the setting sun in all its beauty. It's so romantic! As for those who bought the Bangkok restaurant week coupon for 822.72 baht/person (excluding drinks), it would probably make the value in your hand even greater.

Summary: Cielo sky bar and restaurant is another rooftop restaurant in the heart of the city with a great atmosphere. The music is good, the view is beautiful, the staff is polite and the food quality is good. There may be some minor complaints about the staff, and the food prices are a bit high when you only consider the cost of the food without the view. But if you have a girlfriend or are trying to impress someone, and you're tired of the Baiyoke Tower, you want to be romantic but not like everyone else, I recommend this place as one of the good options. As for the Bangkok Restaurant Week coupons, they are a good way to save money for people who want to take their girlfriend out to dinner, for those who have a limited budget, or for large families with many members. If you're interested, try searching for more information. I think they only sell coupons until May 15th. As for those who have already purchased coupons, they can be used until May 31st.

That's all for this review. If there are any omissions or errors, I apologize. This review is just my personal opinion from the day I used the service. Each person who has the opportunity to use the service may receive different service or taste. And if anyone likes my review, you can follow or suggest more here: https://www.facebook.com/amazingcouples

Thank you all for reading until the end. See you again in the next review. May everyone enjoy their meals and not miss out when entering a restaurant.
