Hello everyone, today I, "Wife Finds, Husband Uses", will take you all to relax at "Wora Bura Huahin Resort & Spa", or as many people call it "Worabura". This resort is one of the resorts in Hua Hin that I have dreamed of trying to stay at for a very long time. And finally, my dream has come true. The things that impressed me the most about this place are:

  • The beautiful colonial-style resort, which is a Western art that came to Thailand during the reign of King Rama V. Some Thai elements have been incorporated.
  • All 77 rooms are large, beautifully decorated, and the cool thing is that each room is named after a province in Thailand (excluding Bueng Kan province). Plus, one special name, Hua Hin. Inside each room, there is also a decoration that has the scent of that province according to the room name.
  • This resort has a strong Thai atmosphere from the reign of King Rama V-VI. From the building structure that imitates the architecture of 3 places: Phra Ratchawang Mrigadayavan, Phra Ratchawang Ban Pun, and Phra Thinang Wimanmek, including the decorations and the dress of the resort staff.
  • Delicious food
  • The resort is located next to the beach and the sea. You can go for a walk anytime.
  • The swimming pool is large and beautiful.
  • The spa is large and has many courses for us to choose from.
  • There are many activities to do within the resort, such as dressing up in Thai costumes for photos, doing daily workshops, playing with the kids at the Kids Club, or going to read a good book in the library.

Having discussed the highlights and overview of Worabura, let's delve deeper into its core. For those who prefer a concise approach, feel free to skim through the images and jump to the final paragraph. ><

The journey to Worabura is not difficult, especially for those with private vehicles and frequent visitors to Hua Hin. After passing the Hua Hin Market, head towards Khao Takiab and look for the "Soi Hua Thanon 23" sign on the left-hand side. This soi is conveniently located between Cicada Market and Tamarind Market. Once you find the soi, turn in and drive for approximately 300-400 meters. You will encounter a sign directing you to turn right. Continue driving for a short distance, and you will be greeted by a beautiful hotel sign and staff in traditional Thai attire.

Upon entering the gate, you will be greeted by a beautiful colonial-style building and a parking lot that can accommodate approximately 30 vehicles.

After parking the car, it was time to check in at the lobby. The lobby exudes a distinct colonial style, with staff dressed in traditional Thai attire from the reign of King Rama V. Even the welcome drink, a refreshing lemongrass water, is served in period-appropriate containers, creating a cohesive and immersive experience.

Accommodation at Varabura

Varabura boasts 77 rooms, each named after a province in Thailand, with an additional room named after Hua Hin. These rooms are categorized into five types:

  • Deluxe Room: 48 rooms, 44 sqm each.
  • Grand Deluxe Room: 24 rooms, 50 sqm each.
  • Suite: 2 rooms, 86 sqm each.
  • Villa 1 Bedroom: 2 rooms, 115 sqm each.
  • Villa 2 Bedroom: 1 room, 130 sqm.

The room I stayed in was the Grand Deluxe Room, named after Nakhon Pathom.

The Grand Deluxe Room I stayed in was spacious and comfortable, with a full range of amenities, including a TV, DVD player, refrigerator, sofa bed, telephone, and an electrical control panel conveniently located next to the bed. The balcony was also spacious and offered a beautiful view of the garden.

For movie enthusiasts, the resort offers a complimentary DVD loan service with a regularly updated selection.

The bathroom is a spacious "Sexy Bathroom" with large wooden shutters that can be opened or closed for privacy. Inside the bathroom, there is a shower box, a bathtub, and a clear separation between the wet and dry areas. The shower pressure is good, and the water is strong and comfortable. Next to the toilet, there is a bidet and a telephone installed.

The bathroom amenities were comprehensive and exceeded expectations, including bar soap, liquid soap, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, shower caps, cotton buds, cotton pads, and a sewing kit. While the bottles were not overly large, they were sufficient for a comfortable one-night stay. The bar soap was generously sized, enough for a 2-3 night stay. I suspect the bar soap contained lemongrass, as I detected a faint scent while showering.

Moving on to the wardrobe, it's not just an empty closet like many other places. Instead, it's fully equipped with amenities such as a sun umbrella, a photo-ready umbrella, a storage bag, a safe, a hairdryer, slippers for walking in the room, a shoe brush and shoe rack, a bathrobe, a weighing scale, and most importantly, a pair of slippers for walking outside the room. It's safe to say that they've provided everything you could possibly need.

The room is decorated with items that represent the province. Each room has different items. For example, my room, Nakhon Pathom province, has a painting of Phra Pathom Chedi and stories about the province, including a Muay Thai model. Other rooms will have items or animals related to that province.

Note: If you are interested in any of the items in the room, such as toiletries, snacks, soap, or other items, you can contact Worabura to purchase them and take them home.

Having thoroughly explored the Grand Deluxe room where I stayed, let's take a quick peek at the other room types available at this hotel. This will provide you with valuable information if you're considering a stay here.

The first room we visited was the Deluxe room, which measures 44 square meters. At first glance, this room is very similar to the Grand Deluxe room I stayed in. The main difference is that the wall patterns are not perforated and the room is slightly smaller, which means there is no sofa bed. However, the balcony and bathroom are the same size. For guests staying on the first floor, the balcony is open, allowing direct access to the hotel's garden.

Note: Both Deluxe and Grand Deluxe rooms offer the option of either a single or double bed. The double bed in these rooms is exceptionally large and comfortable, exceeding the standards of many other accommodations.

The Suite room boasts a spacious 86 square meters, nearly the size of two Deluxe rooms combined. The Suite is divided into a living area and a bedroom, with a large bathroom accessible from both zones. The balcony extends the length of the room, offering ample space for relaxation and enjoyment.

Overall, I was very impressed with this room. The spacious layout, large balcony, stunning views, and expansive bathroom were all highlights. Additionally, the room was equipped with amenities that surpassed those found in the Deluxe and Grand Deluxe rooms. If budget is not a concern, I highly recommend booking this room for a relaxing stay.

Moving on to the final two room types, the Villa 1 Bedroom and Villa 2 Bedroom. The 1 Bedroom Villa has only two units, Phuket and Chiang Mai, while the 2 Bedroom Villa has only one unit, Bangkok. During my visit, I had the opportunity to view the Phuket room.

The Allure of Villa Accommodations: A Tranquil Oasis by the Sea

Nestled amidst lush greenery and offering unparalleled privacy, the three Villa accommodations stand as secluded havens, each boasting a prime location near the shimmering sea. The Chiang Mai Villa, in particular, enjoys an enviable position directly adjacent to the beach, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the soothing rhythm of the waves.

Stepping inside, one is greeted by a meticulously designed layout, featuring distinct areas for relaxation and rejuvenation. From the inviting living room to the serene bedrooms, each space exudes a sense of tranquility. The thoughtfully appointed dressing rooms and luxurious bathrooms, complete with both indoor and outdoor options, cater to every need.

Beyond the walls, a private garden awaits, adorned with a spacious jacuzzi, beckoning guests to unwind and soak in the tropical ambiance. This idyllic setting provides the perfect backdrop for couples seeking a romantic escape or a rejuvenating retreat.

Note: In my personal opinion, the garden and jacuzzi areas of the Phuket and Chiang Mai rooms lack a bit of privacy. There are angles where outsiders can easily peek in. If Worabura could address this and make these areas more private, it would be much better.

We have now explored all the rooms. Let's move on to other interesting areas of the resort. I will start with the swimming pool and spa.

The resort's centrally located swimming pool boasts an impressive size and multiple depth levels, inviting guests to enjoy a refreshing dip. Its proximity to the beach allows for a seamless transition between poolside relaxation and oceanfront adventures.

The resort's spa is another notable feature, conveniently located near the lobby and spanning two floors. Its spacious layout boasts numerous treatment rooms, typically divided between floors, with the upper floor designated for men and the lower floor for women. However, private room bookings are available upon request.

The Warapura Spa offers a wide range of services, including steam baths, saunas, jacuzzis, body scrubs, oil massages, Thai massages, herbal compress massages, and much more. If you are interested in using their services, please contact them. They are open from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. It is recommended to book your appointment at least 3 hours in advance.

In addition to the swimming pool and spa, Varabura offers a variety of other amenities. Let's take a look at each one in turn. Starting with the fitness room, which is located next to the spa. The room is of medium size, but the equipment is new and in good condition. The opening hours are from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm.

Next is the Kids Club, a play area for children. This room is located on the lower floor, with access near the Spa and Fitness center. The room is relatively small. The opening hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Across from the Kids Club is the Library, also known as the Business Center. This room offers a wide selection of books and computers for use. I appreciate the room's design and layout, particularly the large windows that provide natural light, create a spacious feel, and offer views of the surroundings.

This room will be open from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

The three activities that impressed me the most during my stay at the resort were: attending the morning alms offering ceremony, participating in the daily workshop, and taking photos in traditional Thai attire from the reign of King Rama V.

Those interested in these three activities can inquire at the lobby for more information. However, in general, every Sunday at 7:00 AM, monks will receive alms in front of the Rak Talay Restaurant. We can purchase a set of offerings prepared by Worabura for 159 baht per set.

The daily workshop begins at 3:00 PM. Participation is free and can be reserved at the lobby. The activities vary each day, including Thai dessert making, flower arranging, soap making, making "bu-nga" (a type of Thai garland), and towel folding. On the day I visited, which was Sunday, the activity was towel folding. As a man, I quickly opted out of this activity and sent my wife to participate instead.

Note: The duration of each activity may vary depending on the difficulty and the number of participants. Typically, the resort accommodates no more than 10 participants per activity, with an estimated duration of 1-2 hours.

And now, for our final activity, we will be putting on traditional Thai clothing for a photoshoot within the resort. You can borrow Thai outfits for free at the lobby, which will be open for borrowing during the following times:

Morning: 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM

Evening: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.

No need to worry or panic if you're unfamiliar with wearing a chong kben. Our staff are experts and are more than happy to assist you in putting it on.

For those who do not wish to change into Thai attire or arrive outside the costume rental service hours, fret not! The resort boasts a plethora of picturesque photo spots, including the garden, swimming pool, and even the beach. While the beach offers ample space during the morning hours, the tide rises significantly in the evening, leaving little room for strolling. Therefore, it is advisable to check the time and water level before venturing into the sea.

A Culinary Escape: Savoring Delights at Rak Talay Restaurant

As the day winds down and fatigue sets in, let us embark on a culinary journey to Rak Talay Restaurant, a haven nestled by the serene embrace of the sea. This waterfront dining destination offers a captivating ambiance, especially during the golden hour as the sun bids farewell.

Rak Talay boasts a diverse seating arrangement, catering to both indoor and outdoor preferences. Whether you seek the comfort of air-conditioned interiors or the allure of al fresco dining, the choice is yours. The restaurant's operating hours extend from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm, ensuring ample opportunity to indulge in its culinary delights.

The dishes I enjoyed during that meal included:

  • Classic sea bass (250 baht)
  • Grilled pork with spicy dipping sauce (280 baht)
  • Seafood pad thai (250 baht)
  • Yen ta fo with crispy toppings (380 baht)
  • Shrimp with tamarind sauce (450 baht)
  • Fresh orange juice (141 baht)
  • Lime soda (141 baht)

The price of the food includes VAT and service charge. The appearance and taste of the food are excellent. The sea bass is fresh and large, fried to perfection with crispy skin and tender flesh. The spicy sauce adds a delicious kick, making this dish a real treat.

The other menu items are equally impressive, starting with the grilled pork with jaew dipping sauce, which features tender pork and a spicy dipping sauce. (For those who prefer beef, Worabura claims that the grilled beef with jaew dipping sauce is even more delicious than the pork.) The seafood pad thai is also a large portion, generously packed with squid, shellfish, and shrimp. Not only is the portion generous, but the seafood is also fresh and bouncy. The pad thai noodles are cooked to a soft texture and topped with large dried shrimp. In conclusion, for those looking for a hearty single-dish meal, this is the perfect choice. It's sure to satisfy your hunger and taste buds!

Let's take a closer look at the crispy-fried seafood and vegetable "เย็นตาโฟ" (spicy fish ball soup), which I found to be the most unique dish of the meal. This was the first time I had ever seen or tasted this dish, and I must say, it was absolutely delicious. To enjoy it, you pour the hot "เย็นตาโฟ" broth over the crispy-fried seafood and vegetables that are served on a separate plate. The plate includes shrimp, clams, imitation crab, and various vegetables. It's a truly unique and satisfying culinary experience.

The tamarind shrimp dish was the least impressive to me. I'm not sure if it was because I took too long to take photos, which may have caused the dish to miss its prime.

Following our delightful dinner experience, let's move on to the final aspect of our review: breakfast. Breakfast at Worabura is served at the Chulalongkorn Room from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM.

The Chulalongkorn Restaurant has a capacity of 120 people, with 90 seats indoors and 30 seats outdoors. This comfortably accommodates the majority of guests, considering the 77 rooms available. The buffet offers a moderate to large selection of dishes, including an egg station, bacon, ham, potato gratin, stir-fried noodles, stir-fried pork with garlic, bacon sausages, salad, rice porridge, pork bone soup, bakery items, yogurt, fruit, and Thai dishes such as fried eggs with sweet and sour sauce, chicken massaman curry, and pork stew.

The overall taste of the food was good to excellent. The dishes that my wife and I enjoyed the most were the bacon, potato gratin, and bacon-wrapped sausages. It's rare to find a hotel or accommodation that offers bacon-wrapped sausages, and it was a truly delightful and memorable experience.

Other noteworthy food options include salads with fresh vegetables and a variety of toppings such as water chestnuts, croutons, and bacon bits. The bakery offers a wide selection of sweet and savory treats, including croissants, danishes, soft rolls, banana cakes, coffee cakes, and traditional Thai desserts like "alua" and "wun krob." While the latter may appear intimidating with their vibrant colors, they offer a surprisingly pleasant and not overly sweet taste.

The other three food items that I found interesting are yogurt, drinks, and fresh fruit. Yogurt is available in plain, coconut jelly, strawberry, and Mouselli flavors. Toppings include cornflakes, cocoa crunch, oatmeal, raisins, dried papaya, dried mango, dried carrots, and resin ban. Yogurt lovers who enjoy adding lots of toppings will be impressed.

The breakfast buffet offered a variety of beverages, including orange juice, lychee juice, guava juice, milk, tea, and coffee. The quality of the fruit juices was excellent. The fresh fruit selection was also impressive, featuring bananas, apples, papaya, oranges, watermelon, cantaloupe, and dragon fruit.

This is my experience staying at the Wora Bura Huahin Resort & Spa from July 23-24, 2017. For easy understanding, I will summarize the review as follows:

Design: I love the design of the resort. My wife and I are fans of colonial-style architecture, and we were impressed by the way Wora Bura has incorporated this style into its design. The resort is beautifully designed and well-maintained, and I would give it full marks for its design.

Cleanliness: I walked around the resort taking photos, and I didn't see any areas that were dirty or unkempt. The common areas and the rooms were all very clean.

Amenities: The resort offers a wide range of amenities, both inside and outside the rooms. Inside the rooms, guests will find DVD players with free movie rentals, convenient light control panels, bathtubs and shower boxes, umbrellas, weighing scales, and much more. Outside the rooms, guests can enjoy beautiful photo spots, a swimming pool, spa, fitness center, kids club, library, workshops, and free Thai costume rentals for photoshoots within the resort. The Wi-Fi signal is also excellent, with good speed and stability. Guests can connect up to four devices per room.

Accessibility: Most accommodations in Hua Hin are accessible by car, so the location of the resort outside the city center should not be a major issue. The resort is well-signposted, with clear directions and easy access. The resort also provides ample parking space.

Sleep Quality: The beds and pillows are not as soft as in other resorts, but they are still comfortable and do not affect sleep quality. The air conditioning and water pressure are also good.

Staff Service: This is another area where Wora Bura excels. The staff is generally friendly, helpful, and always willing to go the extra mile. They are also very attentive and always smiling.

Breakfast: The breakfast buffet offers a good variety of dishes, including some unique and interesting options. The food is also of good to excellent quality.

Conclusion: Wora Bura Huahin Resort & Spa is one of the first resorts that comes to mind when I want to relax in Hua Hin and don't mind being a bit further away from the market or city center. With its colonial-style architecture, delicious food, excellent staff service, and a variety of interesting activities, this resort is likely to appeal to many people. This includes international travelers, couples looking for a romantic getaway, families on vacation, groups who want to enjoy the beautiful surroundings without large tour groups, and photography enthusiasts looking for stunning backdrops for their profile pictures. However, this resort may not be suitable for teenagers looking for a trendy and lively atmosphere with exciting activities, or for budget-conscious travelers.
