Atrium's Seafood Buffet: A Culinary Delight
This evening, I, "ภรรยาหา สามีใช้," invite you to embark on a culinary journey to Atrium, the renowned buffet restaurant at the Landmark Bangkok Hotel. Renowned for its exceptional seafood selection, Atrium's dinner buffet offers a symphony of flavors that will tantalize your taste buds.
From the succulent flesh of mud crabs and blue crabs to the creamy richness of egg-laden crabs from Khlong Don, the seafood spread is a veritable feast for the senses. Plump, juicy prawns and fresh oysters complement the array, while an assortment of delectable raw fish completes the picture.
Atrium's commitment to freshness and quality is evident in every bite. The seafood is sourced from the finest waters, ensuring an unparalleled dining experience. The chefs' meticulous preparation and artful presentation further elevate the culinary journey.
Whether you're a seafood aficionado or simply seeking a delightful dining experience, Atrium's dinner buffet is an unforgettable treat. Join me and my wife as we explore the depths of this culinary treasure and savor the exquisite flavors that await.
The Atrium restaurant is located on the L floor of the Landmark Hotel, next to the lobby. Upon entering the hotel, turn right to find the restaurant.
Getting to the hotel is easy, especially for those taking the BTS Skytrain. The hotel is only 50 meters from Nana BTS Station. For those driving, keep an eye out for the Sukhumvit Soi 6 sign. The hotel is located between Sukhumvit Soi 4 and Sukhumvit Soi 6. If you miss the hotel entrance, don't worry. Follow the map, and you'll find a way to turn around and get back to the hotel entrance.
No need to worry about parking, as the hotel has ample parking space.
Note: For those who drive, you can stamp your parking card at the restaurant. You can park for a total of 3 hours. However, if you use the service for more than 3 hours, you can inform the staff at the restaurant. They will take care of it for you.
Let's take a look at the food line at the Atrium Restaurant. I visited on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, between 6:00 PM and 9:30 PM. However, the restaurant will be adjusting its prices slightly in November 2017, so I will be listing all food prices as of the new price list.
Food Prices (Updated November 2017)
Lunch: Monday - Saturday
Price: 1,600 Baht/person (net)
Sunday Lunch: 2,700 Baht/person net
Dinner Sunday - Thursday: 2,200 Baht/person net
Dinner Friday - Saturday: 2,500 Baht/person net
The price quoted is net. For meals other than Sunday Brunch, tea and coffee are included, but bottled water and soft drinks are not. Bottled water is available for 65 baht per bottle, or you can opt for a water and soft drink refill package for 150 baht per person (net).
Note: From now until December 31, 2017, Atrium Restaurant is offering a "4 for 2" promotion, and several credit cards offer a "2 for 1" special. I believe these promotions are very attractive because they allow us to save half the regular price.
Our culinary journey begins with the Seafood on ice and Japanese food stations. Indulge in a delectable array of Blue crab, King crab, Sea snail, Oyster, Black mussel, Newzealand mussel, Red shrimp, Salmon, Tuna, Giant squid, Crab stick, Takoyaki, Salmon soup, and Miso soup.
The seafood on ice and sashimi were of exceptional quality, earning a top rating from both my wife and me. The freshness of these dishes places this restaurant among the best we have experienced. The sashimi, in particular, was of such high quality that it could easily compete with specialized Japanese restaurants.
The seafood dipping sauce was excellent, spicy and flavorful. It's perfect for those who enjoy fresh, delicious seafood with a zesty dipping sauce. However, the restaurant could improve this line in two ways. First, they could refill the seafood on ice more quickly, as it took the staff a while to replenish it during our visit. Second, they could offer a less spicy seafood dipping sauce option for those who are not tolerant of spice.
The next line features a tempting array of salads and sandwiches. This line boasts a variety of delicious-looking salads, including ham salad, pomelo salad, lamb salad, and veal sausage salad. The salads and sandwiches are equally appealing, with a wide selection to choose from. Additionally, cheeses, smoked salmon, smoked pork, and cold cuts are available.
In this line, I only tried a few dishes. In my opinion, the most outstanding dish was the smoked salmon, which was delicious and flavorful. The vegetables were fresh and of high quality. There was a wide selection of salad dressings, including olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Thousand Island, Caesar, Japanese sauce, tartar sauce, and vinaigrette. I tried two types of salads: pomelo salad and veal sausage salad. The taste was average, not particularly outstanding or spicy.
The sentence is already in English and does not require translation.
The next line that impressed me was the Grill Station. This line offers a variety of grilled seafood and meat options, including shrimp, mussels, squid, white pomfret, oysters, chicken satay, and beef satay. To order, simply bring your table number to the station. Once your food is cooked, a staff member will bring it to your table.
The quality and freshness of the seafood I had on the day of my visit was excellent, especially the squid, which was particularly delicious.
The Exquisite Crab Feast at Atrium Restaurant
The highlight of my dining experience at Atrium Restaurant was undoubtedly the crab feast. They offered an all-you-can-eat selection of steamed horse crabs, blue crabs, and Klong Kon egg crabs. The freshness of the crabs was exceptional, with large, meaty bodies and a delightful sweetness. For those who adore crab roe, the Klong Kon egg crab was a true delight, boasting an abundance of rich, creamy roe.
Note: Steamed crab, sea crab, and crab roe will only be available until October 31, 2017. From November 2017 onwards, the restaurant will replace steamed crab with salmon on the buffet line.
In addition to the steamed buns, this line also offers noodles, pasta, baked mussels with cheese, roasted beef, Salmon Coulibiac, and Iberico Kurobuta pork. I was most impressed by the Salmon Coulibiac, which resembles a large pie with a salmon filling in the center. The bread on the outside was perfectly crispy, and the salmon filling inside was delicious and easy to chew.
Other impressive dishes included mussels, spaghetti, and meatballs from the noodle stall. The dish that impressed me the least was the pork leg, as the meat was not tender enough, making it difficult to eat, and the flavor was not spicy enough.
Moving on to the next line, the Thai food line. This is another food line that surprised and impressed me. It features a variety of hard-to-find Thai dishes from other hotels, including green curry with pork, northern Thai sausage, crispy catfish salad, sago with pork filling, crispy rice pancakes, nam prik long ruea (sweet chili dip with vegetables), nam prik kapi (shrimp paste chili dip), fried dumplings, stir-fried squid, stir-fried seafood with garlic, and fermented rice noodles with coconut milk.
In terms of taste, I would rate it as average to good. My favorite dishes were the crispy rice pancakes, tapioca dumplings with pork filling, northern Thai sausage, and stir-fried seafood with garlic. The least appealing dish was the fermented rice noodles with fish curry. However, I believe the variety and interesting nature of the dishes in this buffet would likely impress those who bring foreign guests to dine here.
The savory line concludes with a selection of soups and snacks. This line is located at the end of the dining room and features bitter melon soup, tomato soup, baked black mussels, and teriyaki chicken. I must confess that I did not try anything from this line, so I will refrain from commenting on the taste.
Having explored the savory dishes, let's move on to the dessert and fruit offerings. These are further divided into two subcategories: cakes, fruits, and ice cream, and Thai-style desserts.
The dessert selection, including cakes, fruits, and ice cream, was visually appealing and tempting. The menu on the day of my visit featured Caramel Custard, Chocolate duo, Hazelnut cake, Peach tart, Pistachio cake, Blueberry cheese cake, and Banoffee. The taste of the food was average to good, but not exceptional. In my opinion, the standout dish was the Banoffee.
The fruit and ice cream selection was extensive, featuring dragon fruit, cantaloupe, watermelon, guava, and pineapple. The presentation and taste were excellent, making it difficult to resist grabbing a piece.
The ice cream comes in three flavors: vanilla, raspberry, and green tea. The taste is good, especially the raspberry, which has round chocolate chips mixed in, giving it a nice crunch. However, I would like to see an improvement in the coldness, as the ice cream is quite soft, making it difficult to scoop and not very appealing.
And now, it's time to conclude with the Thai-style dessert line. This line features a variety of traditional Thai sweets and desserts, including thong yip (golden threads), hong yot (coconut milk drops), luk chup (sweetened mung bean balls), caramelized bananas, sticky rice with black beans, cantaloupe sago, grass jelly, lod chong (green rice flour noodles), crispy taro balls, salim (sweetened egg yolk threads), and longan.
For those with a sweet tooth, this dessert selection would be a delight. However, after sampling the sweets, I opted to save my appetite for the seafood. While the desserts were of good quality, the freshness and flavor of the seafood were far superior. Therefore, my wife and I decided to prioritize the seafood, given our limited stomach space. ><
Alright, after reading this lengthy review, we have now reached the conclusion of our review of the Atrium Restaurant at the Landmark Bangkok Hotel. Let's go through each point one by one, as before.
Dining Experience: October 4th, 2017
Date: Wednesday, October 4th, 2017 Time: 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM Number of Guests: 2
Food Quality: The majority of the dishes were of excellent quality, particularly the seafood. My wife and I were especially impressed with the freshness and flavor of the seafood, ranking it among the best buffet experiences we've had. The sashimi selection was also of high quality, surpassing many other establishments. While other dishes varied in terms of taste, the overall standard was good, with some exceeding expectations and others falling slightly short.
Atrium Restaurant Review: A Seafood Buffet Paradise in Bangkok
Food Variety: The buffet boasts an impressive selection of dishes, with a strong emphasis on Thai cuisine. This focus on local flavors is a unique selling point, offering a variety of dishes rarely found elsewhere, such as Sai Oua (Northern Thai sausage), Khao Kriab Pak Mor (crispy rice pancakes), Saku Sai Moo (tapioca dumplings with pork filling), Nam Prik (chili paste with vegetables), and Khanom Jeen Saow Nam (fermented rice noodles with coconut milk).
Cleanliness: The restaurant and its spacious dining area are impeccably clean. The high ceilings, wide tables, and ample seating comfortably accommodate 150-180 guests.
Service: The staff provides prompt and attentive service, ensuring your drinks are always topped up. The efficient service is likely due to the moderate number of guests during my visit, with an estimated 40-50% occupancy.
Accessibility: Conveniently located just 50 meters from Nana BTS station, the restaurant is easily accessible by public transportation. For those driving, ample parking is available. However, be aware of the notorious traffic congestion on Sukhumvit Road, especially during weekday evenings.
Value for Money: While the food quality is excellent, the full price of THB 2,200 per person for Sunday-Thursday dinner (including tea, coffee, but excluding water and soft drinks) might seem steep. However, attractive promotions like "2 for 1" (credit card offer) or "4 for 2" (hotel offer) significantly reduce the cost to THB 1,100 per person. At this price point, the buffet becomes an exceptional value, especially considering the fresh and delicious seafood. With such enticing promotions, I would definitely return for another visit to savor the delectable seafood offerings.
Conclusion: The Atrium Restaurant at the Landmark Bangkok Hotel is a must-visit for buffet enthusiasts, particularly seafood and Thai food lovers. The extensive selection of dishes, impeccable cleanliness, attentive service, and convenient location make it a compelling choice. While the full price might seem high, the ongoing promotions make it an exceptional value for money. If you're looking for a luxurious buffet experience with a focus on Thai flavors and fresh seafood, the Atrium Restaurant is an excellent option.
